Last Thread: The Endgame

"I suggest we simply hit the enemy with what we have," hissed Water Hornet without taking his eyes off Urgarho, "the power of Nexus, the Brotherhood magic and anything else we can muster."

The young Magnakai glanced to Sun Snake. "On your go..."

OOC: Just a suggestion that Raven might use the Lightning Hand spell? I don't know if it might not be counter-productive (powering Urgarho's Entrapment Rod instead), but perhaps using many different 'power sources' (Sun-Shard blast + Nexus push + Left-handed magic + Battle Magic) would make it more difficult for Urgarho to counter...?

Also, letting Snake orchestrate the strike.

Sun Snake shook his head. "I am sure you can sense the rythmns of this creature better than I, and orchestrate us. I have something to ready..."

So saying Sun Snake quickly fumbled with his pack to withdraw the glittering sun shard he had taken from Swift Fox.

Water Hornet can step up and get us to kick it's... whatever it has!

Swift glanced back at Hornet, his comment of hitting the creature with everything they had drawing an eager grin from her.

Suddenly looking back at the Urgarho, she broke into a run towards it, holding the mirrored shield in front of her body.
As she drew closer, she turned the shield aside slightly to expose the blade of the Jade Spike behind it, drawing the weapon back as if in preparation to strike.

Suddenly, however, she skidded to a halt and made an odd gesture...

OOC: Faking a charge attack to try to draw the Urgarho's attention away from the others, hopefully making their attacks more unexpected.
Assuming nothing nasty hits Swift, she'll also add a wind push to try to knock it off-balance too.

Really hoping the requested roll is a combat one, 'cos I just got a zero!

Last Thread: The Endgame

The Urgarho had been ready for a charge from Swift Fox, and thus was completely taken off-guard when the girl stopped at the last minute to blast him in the face with a sudden gale of wind. The attack was not so powerful as to make the creature collapse, but it did pushed it back a step; and that was when Sun Snake unleashed the glow of the sun shard, which caused the creature to let out a powerful shriek of pain as it writhed in place for a moment.

Said moment was exactly when Sun Fox and Water Hornet struck, their twin blasts of wind hitting home together in perfect coordination as if it was a long trained thing, smashing the creature into the low wall surrounding the roof; and for a moment, that seemed like it would be all, but then Sabre Fox unleashed his own power, the Urgarho's body creaking mightly even as the stone behind him was simply cracked open by the power of the hit, sending the creature tumbling down and past the roof.

There was a moment of silence as the group considered what to do next, until Dawn Sword pointed to the energy cage where the Agarashi was trapped and asked, worried:

"Is it supposed to do that?"

The cage now looked to be wrapped around a perfect oval stone instead of the creature which had been there before, and the stone itself has a number of spiderweb cracks slowly spreading across its entire surface.

Water Hornet's gaze was transfixed on the gap in the balustrade wall behind which the enemy disappeared. Upon Dawn Sword's question he turned in the indicated direction.

"The Agarashi is trying to free itself by creating an imitation of an egg and then breaking free from it," forewarned Hornet, worry in his voice, "we better stay clear!"

The young Magnakai raised his shield and began retreating from the magic cage.

OOC: I don't know what it will result into, but the Agarashi is attempting to break free by creating a cocoon for the magic cage to latch onto it and burst through it afterwards.

Swift glanced towards the entrapped Agarashi as Hornet called out.

Quickly slipping the Jade Spike back into her sleeve, she raised the mirrored shield, holding it facing towards the Agarashi as she hurriedly backed away towards the others...

"Unless it's also going to create something that psychically shields itself, we should still be able to destroy it as needed," said Sun Snake, though whether he knew for sure or merely hoped was another issue.

"How long until the Kraan arrive?" he asked Water Hornet.

He then looked as if to check the ground far below.

Is there anything still left on the ground to taunt and address just before we leave?

Last Thread: The Endgame

As Sun Snake looked down below, he could see that the eruption was still in progress and, in fact, appeared to be gaining steam - where before the ground had been cracking as either pulsing jets or slow waves of molten rock emerged from it, now it was an almost literal lake of lava down there, with many buildings having already been swallowed by the magma flow while others were slowly crumbling into it, the searing hot temperature melting the mortar while the flames themselves eat into the stone itself and, where present, triggred magical traps into brief flash of fireworks that caused the lava itself to scatter around in deadly projectiles.

What few survivors there were - mostly people wearing the black armour of the drakkarim, with only the occasional Giaks - where either taking refuge atop the tallest buildings or trying to escape the city by running through the cracked walls and into the forest, unaware that it was just a matter of time before the shakes reached the volcano behind the fortress to cover the entire petrified forest into an deadly storm of burning ashes. And even the security of buildings was swiftly proving scarce as one of the kraans roosting tower, speared throught by a sudden jet of lava, collapsed into the burning lake below, dooming those who had took refuge atop it, while the vibration of Gazad Helkona's central tower itself were now so pronounced that the dome next to the Magnakai started to vibrate with the unmistakable sound of glass about to break due to excessive vibrations.

No one still around seems interested in taking you down anymore, and none of you has died from the harsh conditions... yet. :)

"Not long; a couple of minutes at most," replied Water Hornet, still watching the Agarashi and moving backwards, away from it. "Though that might seem like an eternity in our current situation," he added dryly.

OOC: The next round the Agarashi breaks free; two rounds later Kraans arrive.

Aww, I wanted to address the Drakkarim and so on using Nexus to augment the speeches and have us all be 'hah, look at us!' but I guess we were too good at killing everyone :( Not even a Helghast to throw the Agarashi at :(

Sun Snake looked back to the Agarashi. "Is there any indication the cocoon is protecting its mind?" he asked Water Hornet.

Water Hornet shook his head: "No, it should be just as sensitive to our psychic powers as earlier. And I see where you're going: now seems to be the moment to dispose of this Agarashi's creation. We just might want to wait a little longer until we're sitting safely on Kraans' backs, perhaps?"

OOC: As a player I think we should now destroy the Agarashi - Urgarho's been neutralized and the Agarashi is the very next biggest threat, so let's kill it until something goes wrong. As a character, though, I think we should make sure our Kraans arrive and there is no airborne adversary against which we might need Agarashi's help.

Water Hornet gave Sun Fox a nod. "Good; the flying beasts should be here in several minutes - ten at the very most." 'I hope,' added Hornet to himself.

He glanced towards the Agarashi and then addressed Silver Raven. "Should we perhaps signal the Skyrider, for the crew to prepare themselves to a hasty departure?"

OOC: I don't remember exactly, but the Skyrider is anchored within the volcano's 'killzone', isn't it? I don't say it necessary needs to take off immediately, but it sounds prudent to bring them to full readiness.
Or maybe we do want the ship up in the sky? (I'm just worried it gets attacked by any stray Kraans.)

A brief moment after Sun Snake had spoken, the cracks that had been formed into the stone the Agarashi had wrapped itself into suddenly stopped spreading, and while it had not looked like it was moving before, it somehow seemed more immobile now.

Silver Raven let out a long breath after that and commented, relief in his voice:

"Well, at least we won't have to worry about that thing coming after us now. That's a weight off my mind, if I can be honest about it."

Water Hornet had reacted to Sun Snake's request merely by giving the older Magnakai a short glance and a bow of his head.

Hornet sighed.  And smiled.

"Indeed," he echoed the other two Kai Masters.

Dawn Sword moved closed to the now immobile egg, as if curious about what it was, even as she shelved her own bow; as she did this, she realized she still had two arrows left, and hurried back to Swift Fox, offering them back with a short nod.

"These are yours, Master Swift Fox - in the end, I didn't need to use them."

Swift gave a sigh of relief and returned the mirrored shield to her back, looking around at the surrounding scenery.

At Dawn Sword offering the arrows, she looked up at her with a smile.
"You sure you'd rather not keep them?  You seem to have more skill with a bow than me."

OOC: Letting Dawn keep the arrows if she wants.  Though if she doesn't want them, Swift will accept them back readily enough. :)

If you don't want them, I can have Dawn Sword carry it - I just thoought that, since they were magical and in the end they didn't need to be fired, you might have wanted them back. I know you only ever use your other, rather more magical arrow, but you can never know when you're in the situation you have to fire a bow while knowing you'd not be getting the arrow back, isn't it? :)

Dawn Sword chuckled at that.

"I don't know that it's me being good - when holding this bow, it lamost felt like it was directing my aim, tell me where to put the arrow, how to draw the string, when to let fly. I'm not sure I'm that deserving of the praise, Master Swift."

The young woman ran her hand over the white curve of the Silver Bow of Duadon with care, then pointed to the bow Swift Fox herself was carrying, and the quiver in which now only a single arrow stood, and added:

"Besides, you're an archer too - wouldn't you feel silly if you had to use your bow, and didn't have any arrows to use it with?"
