Last Thread: The Endgame

As the group was climbing the well's spiraling staircase at a fast pace, Sun Fox had a thoughtful expression on her face, as if thinking something over. Then she turned to Silver Raven and asked, sounding hopeful:

"Say, can you use the Brotherhood's lifting spell?"

The platinum aired Magnakai's answer was accompanied by a negative shake of his head.

"No, I haven't learned that one yet. Why do you ask?"

Sun Fox let out an annoyed huff, then explained:

"Because we have to make it to the top of this place, and I was hoping for something to make that climb to the roof a bit faster."

Silven Raven looked thoughtful as he answered:

"I see, something like what Frost Ferret did in Argazad with the Pillar spell. But I don't know that one either, and besides, we'd made the ceiling cave in on us there to do that, which here we haven't."

Sun Fox chuckled.

"If you lot could do it there, don't you think it'll only be easier for us, seeing as you now also have along two specialists like myself and Sabre to handle the demolition?"

She then frowned, and continued:

"Although, if you don't have the spells, I guess we can't do it... oh! What of your freezing spell? Couldn't you use that to create a pillar under us, or create a floating platform we could push with Nexus, or something like that?"

"As I said before, that's not how the magic works; I can neither control nor create the ice, only freeze the water I'm touching. I can summon water, yes, but it'd just fall to the ground and then I'd freeze it to the floor, nothing more."

Sun Fox seemed disappointed to hear Silver Raven shot down her suggestions to hasten their ascent.

Sun Snake will take one of the sun shards then, just to make sure we don't leave one behind! If anyone wants it, yell :)

Sun Snake had initiated the link with Water Hornet, to allow the younger Kai to direct their erstwhile aggressor. He walked with his eyes closed, and head bowed, yet still seemed to be aware enough of the surroundings to move normally and even silently.

"You can try to combine your minds and magics," suggested the Kai to Sun Fox without looking around. "Sun Fox, you have combined battle magics and Nexus flawlessly, one to destroy an agarashi, another time in the battle against Starfire. There must be ways to use that, and use those facets in everyone. Even if we cannot use it now, it might help us later in the aerial battle to come."

Nexus + Battle Magic + Huntmastery = Force Jump :p

As she left the chamber with the others, Swift had quickly drawn out the Jade Spike and reattached the mirrored shield to her left arm again.
Other than an occasional brief glance around to make sure the others were keeping up, she had remained mostly silent, clearly concentrating on the escape and watching for enemies in their path for now...

OOC: So how many of the group decided to take a Sun Shard with them?
Need to know how many I have left out of the 6 I had after the fight.

In case anyone missed it earlier, they can do this:

Sun Flash:

- Only useable if the shard is charged, turns it discharged.
- Restore 5 END, 5 WP and 1 lost CS to all Kai within range.
- Inflict 5 END damage to Undead/Darkspawn within range.

Out of curiosity, do Agarashi count as Darkspawn for the purposes of that last one? :)

OOC: Hornet is not taking a Sun Shard, then (as we discussed previously).

Water Hornet's breath was somewhat uneven as the group was ascending. From time to time it seemed he had to consciously focus on walking up the stairs.

'Naar's blood!' cursed Hornet inwardly as he almost missed a step. Again. He started growing accustomed to the mind-link that Sun Snake created with the Agarashi, but it turned out there were still many perils of such feat. It felt like having the beast on a solid leash; like the creature was at the end of a pole he was holding - the Magnakai could shove the beast forward, but each time he would be drawn after it. And it was made worse by the fact it happened on the psychic level - at the fringe of Hornet's consciousness alien thoughts swirled.

He could see the dark shapes.
He could hear the whisper.
And he could feel the evil.

Hornet was currently unarmed, the shield and the sword resting on his back and belt ("I won't be able to fight while controlling the Agarashi," he had curtly explained previously), but in his one hand he carried the High Priest's mask, the grip on the item growing stronger and being released periodically.
"Vashna's arse!" Hornet exclaimed, genuinely annoyed, as he hit the tip of his boot against another stair and almost tripped. An attentive observer would notice a hint of fear flash in his eyes, though.

After a while, the Magnakai Primate wiped sweat from his forehead, but there was a slight smile to his lips.

"But we can control water," interjected Hornet, raising the Priest's Mask in his hand. Before anyone could react , the young Magnakai put the mask over his face, giving him again a somewhat savage appearance. His voice now a little muffled, he continued: "I'm not sure if it'd work...but the Mask does allow oneself to control water..."

OOC: And that's the question: if we could summon enough water, could the mask's manipulation ability allow what Sun Fox suggested? o_O

At Sun Snake's question, Sun Fox quickly answered, with a self-assured tone:

"Nothing to worry about, Sun Snake, if we need firepower, I'll provide all that we could possibly want. They've never seen something like the fireworks I'll show them, trust me on this."

Then, when Hornet spoke, the Kai Lady turned to look at him in surprise, then glanced back to Raven.

"What do you say, could that work?"

Silver Raven frowned.

"It's possible, I guess, although I'm worried a Nexus push could break the ice..."

Sun Fox interrupted, patting him on the shoulder strong enough to make him stumble:

"Don't worry about that, leave it to me!"

She grinned to Water Hornet and added:

"Good idea there, Hornet - you're as smart as ever."

Finally, turning to Sabre Fox she asked:

"What do you say, Sabre Fox, any trick you have that we could use to cut a path to the top of the citadeĆ² that doesn't require us to walk over who know how many stairs?"

"Well it's actually something we could both do" Fox grinned "we could use a Strength spell to carry someone running up the stairs and back. With double speed and my agility I should do it easy" he winked

Sun Fox pursed her lips.

"Hm. I was thinking of something more destructive, so that we could just smash the ceilings one after the other and avoid the stairs entirely... though using Strenght so that we can actually make the jump from one floor to the one above would be a good backup plan if the ice platform doesn't pan out."

The girl grinned at everybody, clearly enjoying the thought of just cutting her way out of the citadel, and looked around:

"Anybody has other ideas?"

Swift tucked the Jade Spike back into her sleeve and reached back to remove the green dagger that had been used to grow a tree bridge over the lava pit before.

"I suppose we could use this to grow a giant tree up through the fortress so we could climb up.  Though I'm sure that's the kind of thing that would draw everyone in the place to us.  Also, I'm not too sure if the building can handle that kind of damage without collapsing on our heads."

She glanced towards Silver Raven, as if looking to his knowledge of crafting in regard to the structure of the building they were in.

Raven thought it over for a few moments, then answered:

"It could handle it, but I can't guarantee it will. It really depends on the tree hitting only ceilings, and no walls, on it's way up; if all the walls stay standing, then the building won't collapse, or at least, not fast enough to matter to us."

Water Hornet nodded to Sun Fox's praise, the accompanying smile hidden by the mask. It appeared he wanted to add something, but reconsidered and remained silent.

Water Hornet gasped, as he yanked the mask off, his face covered in sweat.
Giving a long look to the item in his hand, he looked at Swift Fox, before saying: "You could do that...? That does sounds like a possible solution to our problem."

Sun Fox offered a friendly smile to Hornet, commenting:

"Well, if Swift's trick with the tree works, I'm sure we'd be able to find other uses for the water manipulation, Hornet - it's a pretty unique power, after all."
