Intro Thread: Leela

This was INTOLERABLE!!!

Here they were on Pluto, and what had been a curiosity concerning the state of the planet had turned into yet another dreadful mess. So far, Leela had been taken hostage, shot at, captured, and now she was tied up in a straightjacket, and dumped in this stupid cell. She hadn't had the chance to stab anybody for these indignities, and her temper was frayed to breaking point.

She was waiting to be steamed, whatever that was. That ugly little goblin of a Collector had sentenced her to die. Well, they would see exactly how a warrior of the Sevateem could die - in company! She struggled and twisted as best she could, but there was no breaking out of that restraint. She was able to stand up and hop about a little, but short of breaking out by bashing a hole in the wall with her head, she was going to have to await rescue. Which would be a long time coming. The Doctor had disappeared - again - and she was left to her own devices.

Or, she had been. Unexpectedly, a vortex of swirling white light opened in the middle of the room. It wooshed and swooshed and seemed rather out of place. And then, unexpectedly, it spoke.

"Mistress?"

K-9!!! What was he doing in a vortex? Had the Doctor sent him to rescue her? About time!

Intro Thread: Leela

It's not that she was afraid!

Leela was a warrior from a tribe of warriors, all specifically bred for strength and courage. It had been embarrassing to feel afraid in the tunnels earlier, but K-9 had told her that was just something in the air. What she was was angry. It would be too much to die without the chance to wipe the smirk off the face of that guard. She'd give her right arm for the chance... it would only take a minute.

It wasn't that she didn't trust the Doctor. He'd be working to make everything right. But he never did anything predictable. No knives for his enemies; just some new trick from his endless selection of what he was suspiciously insistent wasn't magic. Who was to say what he would do, or when?

She struggled fiercely against the straightjacket for a moment. It hadn’t done any good so far, but even when futile, Leela would always prefer to struggle and fight to the last rather than give up. She studied the walls of the cell, hoping against hope there was something she had missed.
At the sudden woosh sound, she whirled lightning-quick to face the flash, ready to fight-as much as she could under the circumstances-but instead smiled when she heard a familiar voice. She hopped awkwardly towards K-9. "K-9? How did you-" No, that wouldn't do any good. There was too much danger K-9 would tell her, and there was no time for that even if she could understand it. It was science-magic, and that was that. "Where is the Doctor? Did he send you?”

There was a whirring noise, as K-9's unseen ears rotated. "Doctor-Master is in grave danger! He has vanished from time! I have been sent to escort you to Gallifrey to help locate him! Imperative! Universal collapse imminent! Your assistance is urgently requested, Mistress!"

None of which sounded exactly good, but some of those words were entirely new to Leela. But K-9's tone was unmistakably one of urgency.

"The doctor is in danger? Let's go then!" Leela said bluntly. "Let his enemies beware!"

A somewhat more reflective and considerably less brave person than Leela might have thought about how she was in this situation in the first place because she'd tried to rescue the Doctor. But while Leela was quite intelligent, that was a completely alien way of thinking. She wasn't worried about danger; she was dangerous. Anyways, it was a matter of honor.

She hopped her way into the Vortex with K-9. She wasn't entirely sure what 'universal collapse' meant or how one could vanish from time, but it sounded bad. The doctor could get into such trouble when she wasn't there to watch his back; they hadn't been apart for that long. Hopefully, it would be the kind of problem she could stab; she could use the chance to vent.

Hopping along into the vortex was not exactly dignified. But it did the job. The result was being swirled around in every possible direction until it was really impossible to know which way was up. But the end of the trip came quickly, and she found herself in a little room. One door. Nothing else in sight. Just some pinkish-grey walls, the smell of a lot of food from nearby, and harp music. It also had a quite calming atmosphere, which was a very nice change after the anxiety agents in the air of Pluto.

Nowhere to go but out, though the door might be hard to operate without hands...
