The day was hot and dry, a typical day in the Jixuan desert. Lyla stood and looked across the desert, a heat storm was approaching. It approached almost too quickly to follow. Lyla turned to escape, then she saw her mother and father. The pair stood out in the open desert obvilious to the imminent danger. Then it came and Lyla watched as her parents bodies were consumed in fire!

Little Lyl'arahn did not know why the western sky had gone all wobbly and white, or why the air was so windy and warm. But she did know it was bad. Really bad. The skin on her lekku felt all prickly, and she felt funny and afraid, deep inside. And very soon the fear rushed up and took her over, and made her arms shake and her legs run and her mouth scream.

Then she saw her parents, just standing out there in the desert. Why were they there? Why didn't they see? She needed them! 'Nianna! Narkka!' she cried out, for mother and father. But then they were gone, turned to fire, and to ash, and to smoke. The scream that ripped out of the girl cut through the roar of the heatstorm.

The sight of the heatstorm was terrifying and its blistering heat even from afar made Lyla skin itch however Lyla felt the dream, or was it a nightmare, slip away. She remembered that she was in a cave, in an ocean world of all places, not a desert.

Lyla remembered the Anguillans, the black cave and the drugged seaweed. The Twi’lek was in a dark cave, the only light the stick and phosphorescent seaweed in her hand.

The cave was full of stalactites and stalagmites. Lamar and Klyn helplessness stood entwined in the tentacles of a ferocious beast. The creature was almost three metres long with a powerful tail. Its head had a very small mouth surrounded by eight short tentacles and a pair of curved tusks. It was in the process of dragging its helpless victims closer to its mouth.

OOC Yes Lyla will gain a temporary Force Point.

She woke up in a panic, thrashing through the water, madly trying to strip her suit off, thinking she was on fire and trying in vain to slap the flames out. But she slowed and realised where she was just in time. 'Cruk.' she swore through her breather. The seaweed was a hallucinogen, and had hit hard and fast before she knew it.

She found her makeshift torch, the bone with phosphorescent seaweed, drifting by and caught it, and panned it around, peering for the others in the light behind. Then she saw them, and saw they weren't alone. Reacting on the fight-or-flight instinct and the adrenaline still pumping through her after the dream, Lyla kicked against the stone cave floor and torpedoed across the cave, right at the creature's face. 'Hey!' she roared, her suit's emitters hopefully broadcasting her voice underwater. Using the only thing she had to hand, she waved the torch back and forth in front of the creature's face to get its attention. The Anguillans had to have known it was in here. Was it past of the test, or part of the trap? Either way, they didn't agree to get eaten. 'Hey! Stop that!' she demanded angrily, and if it didn't stop that, she would make it by shove the bone in its little mouth.


OOC: Attack 11, plus 1 from a force point, for attack 12. Sad, but hopeful. I don't know what to roll for damage, but I treated it as a knife, 6 damage.

The creature seemed intent on consuming the paralysed Lamar and Klyn so paid no heed to Lyla as she swam toward it and screamed. The creature did not pause its attack on Lamar and Klyn. Neither did her shout seem to make any change to the helplessness of the pair.

However when Lyla struck the creature in the mouth it bled and let out a yowl. In retaliation it attacked with its tusks but missed the more agile Lyla.

With a yelp, Lyla released the bone in the creature's mouth so she could quickly paddle back and out of range of its tusks before they gored her. As she drifted and spun, she frantically unslung her blaster rifle and raised it at the tentacled thing and fired, though it was hard to steady her aim underwater and with nothing to stand on. But she was done playing nice with the Anguillans and their pet.

Once she'd recovered her bearing, she activated her comlink and screamed down the line 'Hey, wake up! WAKE UP!'

The underwater environment similar to zero gravity was not unknown to Lyla but she still found it difficult to move and fight. Her blaster shot hit the creature and its squirmed in pain but did not release its victims from its grasp, instead it propelled itself toward Lyla and its tusked mouth bit her. She felt her spacesuit lose pressure and besides her own blood she felt the wetness of the toxic waters of Alluuvia on her skin.

Lyla's call to her companions appeared to have no effect on the pair as they lay helplessly in the creatures tentacled grasps. Both were clearly still alive as Lyla saw changing looks of fear and anger etched on their features.

OOC Lyla gets bit for 8 damage. The integrity of the spacesuit was damaged by the bite but the breathing apparatus continues to function. Lyla feels not adverse effects at this time.

With a burst of bubbles through her breather, Lyla snarled in pain and anger – she hadn't expected the damn thing to bite so hard with such a small mouth. She shoved the creature off of her, then spun her rifle around for another shot, blaster fire sizzling water and flesh together. 'I'll show you crukkers who's worthy!' Briefly, she considered trying to grab and shake Lamar and Klyn awake, but the battle had to be shaking them enough already and it wasn't working. No, she had to end the threat first, then work out how to revive them.

The creature squirmed and thrashed as Lyla continued to fire a barrage of blaster bolts at it. It tusks came dangerously close to tearing more holes in Lyla’s spacesuit but either Lyla was quick enough to dodge out of the way or the creature was suffering badly from the wounds Lyla had inflicted.

Seeing how many tentacles and tusks it had, and how dangerous it was to get close to, Lyla stayed on the move – kicking off the cave wall, twisting to turn and fire as she drifted through the water, and then swimming frantically for cover or to get behind the beast before it could recover and retaliate. Cruk! She'd scored some good hits, but how long could she keep this up for before it caught her too? How long before it decided to just chow down on its meal while it still could, or whatever the drugs had done to Lamar and Klyn became permanent?

'Klyn! Lamar! Come on, wake up, damn it!' she shouted pleadingly, hoping by the Goddess to be heard.

As the creature was blasted again by Lyla she saw its eyes widen and it's grip on its victims, Lamar and Klyn loosened. It was no longer aggressively fighting Lyla but now fighting for its own survival as it tried to chase Lyla through the cave and rake at her with its tusks. The creatures blood flow freely and the dark cave became murkier.

The grip on Klyn remained steadfast but the tentacle holding Lamar was too weak and Lamar wriggled free. Released Lamar saw the three metres long beast for the first time. It did not have the initial ferocity that Lyla had seen it was now an injured and frightened animal fighting for its life.

Enraged Klyn stood up the Stormtroopers. Surprised the Stormtrooper staggered as Klyn stabbed. Grappled by Klyn the Stormtrooper thrashed about but was overcame by the teenager.

As the Stormtrooper died Klyn eyes opened to see that he was in the deep cave and he was gripping tightly the thrashing tentacle of a sea monster with its sharp tusked mouth menacingly close to him.

"What the heeeeeellll?" he yelled, letting the tentacle go, an huge amount of bubble briefly surrounding his head.

Then came the pain, lots of pain...

Breathing should not be that painful.  What did the monster do while he was out?
And how did they get there? A betrayal?


He looked around, dumbfounded, and spotted Lyla, then Lamar. Then the tusked mouth reminded him of the situation and he scrambled for his weapon.


OOC: didn't we kept some water proofed blaster from a previous adventure?

Propelled by the pumping of her long legs and by the looping of her arms in a desperate breaststroke, Lyla evaded the tusks and fangs she knew were gnashing at her heels. Her heart and lungs were pounding, her limbs were aching where they weren't already bitten and bleeding, she was out of her element and fighting for her life and the lives of her friends – and yet she was somehow also in her element, and feeling more alive than ever. She'd been doing this since she was a girl, since the heatstorm, since the desert and the lylek. Maybe that was why the hallucination had failed.

With dark water growing murkier with blood, she crashed into the stone wall, scrabbled against it to turn herself her around, and risked a glance back at the beast and the others. And was relieved to see them waking up, throwing off the slackening tentacles. 'Welcome to the world of the living!' she called out over comms, an edge of relief and joy in her energised voice. She snapped her rifle back up, as fast as she could in the dragging water, and fired at the creature before it could crunch down on Klyn.

The wounded alien was shot again by Lyla. It’s death throes shook the dark cave and stirred up the sea. From behind the Rebels they heard the call of the Anguillans and light shined to lead them out of the cave.
