A runaway on a desolate planet in the Outer Rim Terrotories

Since escaping to Tatooine Tera had kept a low profile. Where possible she’d taken on any work as long as it wasn’t medically related so as to avoid detection. It often meant doing low paid and menial work. So her current employment in Heff’s souvenir shop was ideal. Tera had found herself a room for rent in Mos Eisley although it was small it was cheap.

It was now mid-morning and the streets were busy. Tera was scheduled to start her shift at the shop this afternoon, until then so had a few hours spare to do her own thing.

Re: A runaway on a desolate planet in the Outer Rim Terrotories

Tattoine. The desert planet...and Mos Eisley. The very definition of the term "hellhole". Since she'd been here, she'd almost been mugged twice. The only thing stopping it, her blaster pistol and faking like she knew how to use it effectively. So far, life had been tough, though she had been making enough to get by and enough to get some downloads through an intermediary to enhance her knowledge while she sat things out waiting for the galaxy to pass by and forget her.

Taking a look at the clock and the distinct lack of credits available to buy anything, Tera was disappointed, but the only thing available to pass the time might be to read over some of the journals she'd bought.... or she could get up and head outside to experience the Tattoine heat.

The Tatooine heat was not yet at this zenith so a trip out might be hot but endurable. The alternative to stay put would be less bothersome but perhaps more boring.

OOC Whilst Tera’s at home I’ve nothing planned. If you’ve nothing you want to do we can fast forward to her shift at the store. Let me know what you want her to do.

Re: A runaway on a desolate planet in the Outer Rim Terrotories

Tera decided that perhaps some rotten fetid air and maybe a good rumour or two might make a significant difference to the rest of her day. Mildly unhappy that she didn't have a larger number of credits and the last of her remaining money was slowly dwindling away. She decided that staying inside was not a prudent idea on this day. Putting her boots and more importantly her cloak on. She covered her face with her mask, ostensibly to keep out the dirt and dust, but it also served a dual purpose to keep her hidden from public view.

Tera decided to head to the marketplace. She might spot something interesting.... and it was the most common gathering spot for people new in town. Some nice rumours to be spread might get her more in tips.

Re: A runaway on a desolate planet in the Outer Rim Terrotories

As was typical of Mos Eisley the streets were busy and everyone was hurried to do their own business. The market was no exception to this and Tera saw all kinds of wares and artefacts on display. She also noticed rather quickly the distinct lack of locals in the streets. It appeared that Mos Eisley had been overrun by visitors still Tera last came to market. Some of the strangers looked calm and quiet as their wandered around market. Whilst some acted excited and noisy. It wasn’t long before Tera was growing tired of being pushed aside or almost run over by landspeeders full to overflowing. It was obvious why the usual locals were staying out of the way.

Tera instantly grew wary. The presence of so many off worlders was something to be afraid of. She wondered if anyone had tracked her down here or even if it was her they were after. It seemed to her as though the best place to get more information might instead be the Starport Cafe, rather than the market.

Keeping a low profile, Tera set off for the cafe. She needed to find out more about why the town was now inundated with foreigners. A dock worker or off worlder might know more. In any case, the strangers would likely say more in a peaceful setting like a cafe, as opposed to the wild and free environment of the market, or worse, the drunken ribaldry at the cantina. She kept a watchful eye out on the newcomers, she needed to know why they were there.

On the way to the Dockside cafe the streets were crowded with people. The Spaceport Hotel on the opposite side of the road from the cafe was the sort of dilapidated and rundown building common to Mos Eisley. As Tera sat in the cafe she saw the hotel clerk, a sullustan dressed in what she was supposed to be some kind of uniform although it was grubby and covered in a layer of grimy dust and sand kept busy as lots of space travellers came and went.

The cafe was busy too. A wide variety of beings were crowded into the small building. The cramp cafe was full of chat in human and alien tongues. Two names that seemed to recur among the various conversations Tera overheard were Jodo Kast and Adar Tallon.

Seeng someone she recognised, Tera headed to sit down beside him. She had enough to pay for a coffee, and because she'd been on planet for long enough, she was beginning to be recognised as an onworlder.

She moved to sit by the hotel clerk. Sullustans in her experience tended to be chatty and well informed. "Hi there. Mind if I sit here?" as she moved into the seat nearby "I don't think I've ever seen Mos Eisley so busy. You know what's up?"

Re: A runaway on a desolate planet in the Outer Rim Terrotories

The sullustan nodded to Tera in a friendly another manner but had few words to say “a tough crowd even in these parts. Bounty hunters by the looks of them. Best to not ask too many questions miss, ‘cause it looks like there’s goin’ to be trouble” the hotel clerk’s taciturn response seemed typical of Mos Eisley, trouble was common so most locals just kept their heads down when the storm hit.
