Re: First Twilight Get-Together

"I can handle a speeder." Mallox offered confidently, "Who else needs a ride?" He walked over to the landspeeder, "How much for the day?"

Spaceport Speeders

Over at Spaceport Speeders the salesman’s eyes shine at the arrival of more patrons. Once Labria discovers your lack of transportation he waits on the roadside mounted on his bike, a flask in his hand which he habitually drinks from. On the forecourt the group of three male quarrens are acting like offworlders, probably here for the bounty although they seem inept and inexperienced as the salesman is set on selling them the old Mobquet for four thousand credits! The other customer, the tall dark haired woman greets your arrival with a chilling smile; she seems to have the salesman at a disadvantage having gained his agreement to purchase the Ubirkkian for a price of only eighteen hundred credits.

“Hundred credits a day” he replied when asked for rental prices and he pointed to a SoroSubb landspeeder “best thing to see the sights all round Mos Eisley or for getting into the wastes” beside the SoroSubb there are a couple of Aratech speeder bikes, a sign above them advertises daily rental of thirty-five credits each.

Oglo and Zerrek head back into the docking bay whilst the others check over the speeders. Zerrek’s speeder is where he left it. In the ship Klyn is still busy with repairs and Oglo busies himself with his hydroponics in the cargo hold.

Re: Spaceport Speeders

Speaking quietly, Lyla suggested "Maybe someone should go with Labria, in case he plans to lead us into a trap?" She wasn't going to trust anyone around Mos Eisley, the famed capital of scum and villainy. Of course, she wasn't going to offer herself to go with Labria.

"How much for just a couple of hours?" Lyla asked the dealer, conscious that their funds were likely running very low. They'd have to take up bounty hunting for real soon. "We only need it for the evening."

Re: Spaceport Speeders

The repulsorlift dealer was flush with his two sales the quarren taking the Mobquet for the asking price. The woman confidently closes the deal on the Ubrikkian jumps in and jets off, sending a spray of dust and sand over everyone. So when Lyla makes her offer he’s obliging “as it getting late I’ll cut you a deal. Take the SoroSubb but have it back here for First Dawn, clean and ready for tomorrow then I’ll let you have it for it for sixty credits. You could hardly charge it up for less” he nodded vigorously trying to seal a quick deal, a hand outstretched for the credits.

Re: Spaceport Speeders

"Ah, just a moment to confer, please?"

Lyla gathered her allies into a group. "Do you want to check the engine or repulsorlifts, see they're reliable? Does it sound a good deal to you? If we each chip in 12 credits, we can get it." Funds were getting too low, by her reckoning.

"Sounds good." Mallox replied, "I have enough funds to cover sixty credits." Mallox stepped to the dealer, "Here's the sixty credits. We'll take the deal and the repulsorlift."

Mallox climbed into the driver's seat, "Let's go."

Tera was relieved someone had sixty credits. The lack of funds was proving to be something of an issue. "Thank you" She flashed a smile at Mallox, before sitting in the back and putting on as seatbelt. Mallox looked as though he might drive a little recklessly.

"Well, aren't you lovely?" Lyla said to Mallox, genuinely thankful. She waved and said "Thanks." to the dealer then hopped into a passenger's seat. "I call shotgun!"

Re: Spaceport Speeders

Zerrek grins at his bike, he did love that bike, even if it was slightly used. Waving to Klyn as he walked past with his bike "We'll be back later, I'll stay in touch." He told him quickly, not wanting to be left behind, not even letting him ask about the cut on his chest. He walked it out into the streets before jumping on and doing his normal checks, grabbing a pair of goggles around the handlebars which he wore when he was riding. He quickly powered off to get back to the others to find that they had rented a speeder, raising the goggles off his face as he pulled up next to him "Cool, we all ready to go then? Lead on, Labria" He gave a thumbs up as he sat back, the engine still running, ready to move on the go.

Re: Spaceport Speeders

The traffic on the streets and alleyways of Mos Eisley was as busy now as it was during the days. Speeders roar passed as Labria drunkenly weaved ahead taking them to the outskirts of the city. Toward Tower Ridge. Tower Ridge was the first subspace transmission antenna constructed on Tatooine. It is now unused. When the devil-faced drunk reaches it he turned his bike around "this is as  far as I go" he explained then zoomed off.

As Labria's bike kicks up dust the rusted ruins of the transmission tower cast a shadow across the ridge complex. The silo itself rests atop a square metal building, with double doors set in one side. One door rocks open in the evening breeze. An old speeder is parked behind the silo, and a control box is attached to a side wall.

Re: Spaceport Speeders

"Hey!" Lyla shouted angrily after Labria, annoyed to be so dumped. They needed the Devaronian to introduce them to Slag Fats. Else why would the Ithorian talk to just anyone coming in off the street? "Damn it, I knew one of us should have sat with him."

She took a moment to look over the old silo, not liking what she saw. While she could expect gangsters to operate out of an apparently abandoned building, she would have expected more speeders. "I've got a bad feeling about this."

Tera jumped out of the speeder. "We'll be fine." Tera looked at the building and then lifted ehr blaster out of the holster to make sure it's functional. "Uh...might just want to double check weapons...just in case."

Tera hoped Slag was in touch with her boss, her ex-boss often enough that she could recognise her. Given she was a minor underworld figure, things had the potential to go wrong here.

Willmar nodded with Tera's suggestion.  She was wise to be cautious, he thought, and he hefted his blaster into his arms in response.  "I suppose we should knock," he added.  "We don't want to linger long on the doorstep."  The soldier waited for the others to prepare themselves as he strolled over to the nearby walls to see if he could get a peek inside the abandoned building through a window or crack or something.

"Don't worry." Mallox said as Labria rode away. "We're here. That's all that matters." He check his weapon as he approached the old speeder bike. "Anyone know how to rig this so it can't go as fast? You have 10 seconds to get it done. Let's go."

Mallox turned away from the old speeder bike as he didn't know what to do himself.

Re: Spaceport Speeders

Lyla didn't know how to sabotage the speeder short of shooting it up, so she left it.

"Just wait here a mo. I'll go check it out quietly."

With that, Lyla scanned the building and silo for any hidden spotters, her keen Twi'lek hunter's eyes cutting through the shade. Then she moved stealthily up to the open door, keeping to the shadows cast by the setting suns.

Examining the Water Silo

The landspeeder was typical of the type found in Mos Eisley, battered and well used, carrying a pilot and four passengers. All is quiet as you search around.

Examining the Water Silo

Lyla considered the signs she found. Repulsorlifts blow-marks in the sand showed that this had been a busy place not so very long ago. But now... Noting the dereliction inside, Lyla backed away from the door for the now, and decided to make a circuit of the building, just to check for other entrances, to peak in windows and such, before she risked entry.

OOC: Are there any windows or other doors? Lyla will go around the building, peak in the windows and slink under them, and see what else there is.

Examining the Water Silo

The water silo was built as a storage building. It has no windows and  except for the large double doors there are no others entrances in sight.

Sighing, Lyla found herself back the doors again. She backed away until she was out of earshot, then tapped her comlink to whisper back to the group "Looks derelict inside, but a bunch of speeders came through not long ago. No other entrances. I'm going to have a sticky-beak inside."

Returning to the door, she peaked around and peered inside, her eyes picking up more light in the dark and resolving the shapes.

Cruk. "Looks like dead bodies inside." she commed back, her mood dropping. This could not be good. Joining up the clues, she could see some rival gang arrive on speeders, massacre those inside, then ride off again. They were too late.

"Can someone go check that control box, maybe put the lights on? I don't want to step in something I shouldn't."

Raising her blaster rifle before her, she stepped fully into the doorway, casting her eyes and rifle sight over the scene. She was worried the killers might still be around.

Zerrek groaned at the mention of dead bodies, the cut on his chest throbbed at the memory of the last battle, drawing his own blaster out as he followed the others in, turning his bike off and worried about their safety as well as his bike's. "Let's just be careful...we don't need to end up like them.." He reminded the group, despite the fact he knew they had no desire to do so.

As nobody stepped forward to check the control box, Mallox stayed outside to do just that. Though not a mechanic by any means, he knew how to flip some switches. "Light? Let's see if this works. How about this?"
