Re: Inside the silo

Lyla couldn’t find any other exit and from the inside there are no visible controls for the main door or a control to unlock the magnetic seal.

Slag Flats’s datapad seems belligerent to Tera’s probing and apart from the obvious message that Arno is in danger nothing else can be gleaned from her investigation.

OOC I have posted Lyla’s attempt to call Mallox and will work as an intermediary to pass on any response.

Re: Inside the silo

Zerrek jumped down, annoyed that despite his great effort they were still stuck inside. He looked pisssed off after hearing about the attack outside as well, he marched towards the door, drawing his pistol. "I don't need to see them to know where they are!" He said to no one but himself as he aim his blaster at the door. Judging by the shot earlier it should go through easy. With a squeeze of the trigger he let the bolt fly at one of the corners of the door, aiming for a hinge. Planning on blasting the door off.

22:46, Today: Zerrek Lyell rolled 12 using 3d6+1. Blaster Pistol.
22:44, Today: Zerrek Lyell rolled 17 using 1d20+8. Sense Surroundings.

"Don't let them get the speeder! We don't want to pay for it!" Lyla yelled back at Mallox.

Following Zerrek's lead, Lyla raised her rifle to the door as well, aiming at the hinge. She fired — and put the bolt in the wall instead.

OOC: Shoot at the next hinge, attack 5 (corrected to include PBS), rolled a 1, automatic miss
Damage, just in case: 18

Leia: Put that thing away, you're gonna get us all killed!

The noise of battle outside and frustrated from being trapped in the silo Zerrek, Lyla and Willmar began to blast the door. As soon as the firing started the silo was filled with blaster strikes bouncing from wall to wall, searing scorch marks across floor and walls. The noise created was deafening and chaos ensued as everyone had to leap out of the way or make themselves small and hope that the Force was on their side.

Willmar was either very slow or very unlucky as Lyla’s rifle blast ricocheted off the door to strike him. The reflected blast however was weaker than direct fire so Willmar didn’t suffer too much from it.

OOC Like the garbage disposal aboard the Death Star the silo chamber is magnetically sealed and protected against blaster fire. I gave a very small chance that some got hit and unfortunately Willmar is hit for 9 damage.

Lyla swore in shock as her blaster bolt reflected into Willmar. "Cease fire! Willmar, you okay?"

"Damn it, we can't keep shooting at. I don't suppose any of you brought cutting equipment?"

Re: Inside the silo

The sound of blaster fire outside ceased and there was no more communication with Mallox via the comlink but the overhead door clicked open. The relief of being free to escape was tempered by the fact that the water held in the upper chamber of the silo was pouring through to flood the sealed chamber they were in trapped in.

"Mallox!" Lyla shouted back, fearing the worst.

Worse yet happened as water rushed in and flooded the chamber. "Out of the way!" She stared in horror at the scene, shocked and dismayed beyond their current danger. "Bastards! Who'd waste this much water on Tatooine? ...Well, at least now maybe we can swim our way out."

Re: Inside the silo

"Son of a..."  Willmar cursed, but bit his tongue.  "That stings like hell."

He regarded his shoulder where the blaster had caught him from a ricochet.  Nothing he could do about it at the moment though; and the soldier was trained to ignore such inconveniences as being shot.  It would take more than that to stop him, he thought... and then remembered that they were still trapped.  Yup.

quote:
"Mallox!" Lyla shouted back, fearing the worst.

Willmar closed his eyes in silent dismay.  But for only a moment.  Right now, the water was their biggest concern.  "We'll have to stay on top of the water line until we can swim up and out of this thing."  Sure, he was stating the obvious, but he wanted everyone to remain focused.  The trick of getting out might not even be as difficult as the trick that would follow... getting down.  Wordlessly, he looked to the others to try to gague if they would be up to the tasks.

Re: Inside the silo

The torrent of water gushed down through the trapdoor to hit the floor, it rushed outward in it’s desire to fill the chamber. The force of the water pushed and pulled at everything. Bodies and furniture were lifted and moved about to crash into each other and anyone standing was soon knocked about to or lost their footing altogether. It didn’t take long for it to not matter whether anyone was standing because the water was too deep and everyone had to swim just to keep their head above water.

OOC Swim checks required from everyone DC15, if you fail the check by 5 or more you go under, you may reroll the next round. It will take 5 rounds for the chamber to fill up enough so that you can swim to the trapdoor and climb out. Also after 5 rounds the water will have calmed down so the DC to swim will decrease to 10. Armour check penalties apply to all rolls. You don’t need to make posts round for round; you can just make as many rolls as you need to get out that is unless anyone fails them all and starts to drown.

So 1 success, then he goes under, then not a success, then ge goes under again, then not a success.

Is there anything on the walls to help us hold on (so that we don't go under)?  Also, how for long can we hold our breath?

Re: Inside the silo

Lyla had though herself rather fit, but she'd rarely had to cross water and she wasn't a strong swimmer, and this was very strong water. As it lifted her off the ground, she paddled well to remain upright. Then a floating table crashed into her and she lost her buoyancy, pushed beneath the surface. She found herself suspended in dark water, lekku waving freely, shaken by the muffled roar of water. She struggled to propel herself back up, but couldn't get the strength.

OOC:
08:37, Today: Lyla Rahn rolled 16,7,7,14,3 using d20+2,d20+2,d20+2,d20+2,d20+2. swim.

Tera panicked as soon as the water rose. She wasn't made to do this. Water was not a way in which someone could traditionally die on Tattoine. She wondered if the pathologist would call in students to see the bodies of some people dead by immersion in water.

Flailing frantically, Tera manages to breach the surface enough to be able to keep breathing, but is having big problems trying to keep afloat.

Re: Inside the silo

Zerrek groaned as water started filling the room "....We have some rotten luck...." He states as the room continued to fill up. However Zerrek was a strong swimmer, pushing every muscle in his body to it's limit as he kicked and maintained his head above. However he felt his strength start to leave him as he quickly was swallowed up by the liquid. Hating the feeling, he soon shot out of the water again, staying above the water, watching helplessly as some of his team was dragged under.

OOC: Since it's a check each round, that means I can use Extreme Effort with my two swift actions!.

21:09, Today: Zerrek Lyell rolled 13,10,18,21,17 using 1d20+7,1d20+7,1d20+7,1d20+7,1d20+7. Swim checks (Extreme Effort).

Zerrek will come after anyone who needs help.

Re: Inside the silo

As his companions struggled with the sudden flood of water Zerrek was able to keep his head above it. Swimming to the now open trapdoor he was able to pull himself through. The upper chamber was roughly spherical in shape; the walls and floor were still wet as water flowed now in small trickles to make its way downward to join the large mass of water below. A closed access hatch was set in a wall, apart from that there was nothing else in there.

OOC Everyone else can continue rolling or take ‘10’ to join Zerrek in the top chamber.

Re: Inside the silo

The in-rushing water had a powerful current, and that was straight down to the floor and then to the sides. Lyla had a hard time swimming against it, and found herself pushed to the floor, lost in a dark void of distant, throbbing noise. She could swim against the current, so instead she went the Twi'lek way, to go with the flow, and was swept across the floor and into the wall, where the water began to almost push upwards. She got her head above water, for a snatch of breath, before going under again.

Finally, the waterfall slowed and finally halted, and the current eased. Lyla was now able to swim in the right direction, paddling as best she could for the hole. But boots made it difficult, and her lekku and coat added drag. Eventually she got through the hatch and burst out of the surface, gasping for air. Shuddering and slippery, she climbed through into the upper chamber.

Tera felt like a drowned rat as she managed to pull herself up and into the next chamber. She wasn't best pleased at the immersion and her boots squelched every time she stood on them. Sitting down she rested for a few moments to get her strength back. "Ok....so how do we get out?" she panted.

Re: Inside the silo

The sudden temperature switch from a warm Tatooine first twilight to the relatively cold water had set Lyla—desert girl that she was—to wild shivering. Some of that was due to shock at the near-death experience, she knew. It was a delayed reaction after that surge of adrenaline. But trapped underwater, corpses floating out of the dark at her, the desperate struggle for life—now it all came flooding at her... Flooding. Poor choice of words.

She sighed, tried to still and calm herself and let the fears slide away with the water now streaming off her. She wasn't out of the desert yet. She tipped water out of her blaster rifle, shaking her soaked-through clothes and flapped her lekku. She was still cold, wet and with clothes clinging uncomfortably and suggestively. "Huh. If I'd known there'd be a wet t-shirt contest, I'd have worn something different." she teased, joking away her worries.

OOC: Where's this access hatch? Is it at our level, or some way up?

Willmar looked worse for the wear.  The burn to his shoulder had obviously made the swim difficult for him, but he didn't mention it.  Rather, he moved to the hatch Lyla mentioned and wordlessly hoped that there wouldn't be climbing involved on the other side of it.  "I've got a rope in case we need it."

Re: Inside the silo

The hatch opens easily, the magnetic seal broken when the trapdoor opened and filled the lower chamber with water. Although only one sun remains in the sky the brightness of outside is dazzling enough to blind Willmar and Lyla for a moment, it did not hamper their hearing though as they heard the roar of a repulsor engine fading away but they were free.

OOC The climb down will not be difficult especially with Willmar’s rope. I’ll allow you to post your own efforts and methods. Move to Arno’s Next.
