Arno's Next

Their rented landspeeder and Zerrek’s bike are where they left them but Mallox is slumped unconscious beside the silo control box. A discarded stick of SoroSuub Chew on the sand beside him.

Re: Arno's Next

Zerrek climbed down the rope that belonged to Will, which make decsending the silo child's play for him. He was glad to see that the speeder and his bike were still there but that was until his eyes landed on Mallox "Crap! Mallox is down! Where's the Doctor lady?" He asks as he pulls out his pistol, ready for any sort of ambush left behind. Just in case.

OOC: I'm taking 10 if a Climb check is needed.

Re: Arno's Next

Lyla tried to descend the rope quickly, but wet hands made it hard to get a good grip, and she slipped a bit. Thereafter, she went down more carefully. She jumped the last two feet, drawing her rifle and ran to the speeders and fallen Mallox.

She stood over, scanning the area and ready to defend, but their attackers seemed to be long gone now. What the hell was going on? Starting with the dropped stick of gum, she examined the immediate area for prints and signs.

OOC: Climb 4, meh, so I'll Take 10 for 12.

Re: Arno's Next

Tera's head popped out of the hatch after Lyla's. "I'm still here and well, to be honest, people around here think of me as the street vendor lady, not the doctor lady." she frowned as she looked over to the place where Mallox lay "Be down shortly. Is he still breathing? Look for darts."

Willmar remained up top for a few moments, hearing the commotion below and thinking it better to take a good long look out from this high vantage point.  Perhaps he could see to where those responsible for the attack had gone.

OOC:  Taking 10 on Perception = 16

Afterward, he took his time climbing down the rope.  No need to hurt himself any further.

OOC:  Taking 10 on Climb = 12

Re: Arno's Next

Apart of the stick of chew there’s little that can be discerned from looking around, obviously someone was here but they were now gone. Mallox is breathing but has suffered a large blaster burn to the side. There are no darts protruding from his neck unlike the other victims that have been found. From his high vantage Willmar can not spot anything unusual.

OOC Everyone safely descends the rope.

Re: Arno's Next

With the coast clear, Lyla turned her attention to Mallox, now allowing herself to be concerned. This mess just got worse and worse. "No dart, just a blaster shot in the side. He's breathing." she called back to Tera. She crouched over and pulled out her medpac, her last, and left it ready for the doctor to use while she laid him out in the recovery position.

"Come on, Mallox, wake up. We're here now." she urged, gently shaking him, patting his cheeks. Finally, killing two birds with one stone, she leaned over and wrung her shirt over him, hoping the cool water would refresh and startle him awake.

Re: Arno's Next

As Tera reached Mallox, she opened a medpack, seeing what she could do to help him. Always cautious she looked around before she crouched to see what she could do to help. "Blaster burns implies there's someone around who has a blaster. See anything to indicate where and who they are?"

Willmar tried to help Tera with Mallox, but seemed to be getting in the way.  So instead of press the issue, he kicked some rocks and muttered under his breath something about 'stupid magneticly sealed walls.'

10:43, Today: Willmar Sutherland rolled 7 using 1d20+6. Aid Another (Tera's Treat Injury).

Re: Arno's Next

Lyla did what she could to help, "Just tell me what to do." but she was untrained and inexperienced at treating blaster burns. All she could do was pass things to Tera, but Mallox's injury seemed to be bad and getting worse.

Re: Arno's Next

Lyla, Tera and Willmar worked desperately in an attempt to revive Mallox, their efforts were poor but not fruitless. Weakly Mallox coughed and stir back to life.

OOC: Mallox succeeded his Constitution check so he moves +1 step on the condition track, regains consciousness and 2 hit points. Mallox can now act normally and if he wants take a Second Wind and also if he rests for 4 rounds he will move himself back up the condition track.

Re: Arno's Next

Lyla breathed a sigh of relief as Mallox recovered. First Zerrek, and now Mallox. She wasn't sure how long they could scraping through and suffering these kinds of injuries. She gave him a little water — from a bottle, not her shirt — and asked "Damn, Mal, are you okay? What happened?"

Re: Arno's Next

Not knowing what to say Tera looked puzzled and pointed to the wounds "Uh....he got shot....by a blaster." Tera looked around at the bunch of newcomers "You know something....you guys sure go through a lot of pain. How about I tag along with you. Only known you for a few hours and already two of you have been shot."

Willmar adopted an innocent look in response to Tera's observation.  "Well, in my defense it weren't no punk that tagged me.  Apparently I'm the only one with good enough aim to hit me... so far, anyhow."

Re: Arno's Next

Lyla looked askance at Tera. "I mean, how did he get shot? ...And Zerrek was axed. You know, you might not want to hang around us. You might be next." she warned, though it wasn't a threat. It was dangerous, and Tera wasn't one of the Rebels, so she was a risk to their cover. But it was looking like they'd need the doctor along if they were to survive this.

"Come on, can you get up?"
she asked Mallox, gently helping him to his feet when he was ready.

Re: Arno's Next

Mallox got up gingerly. He leaned on Lyla. "Why are you wet?" He took several breaths and looked around.

"Four guys jumped out and ran for the old speeder. It's too bad that we didn't know how to rig it. But they got away. I managed to tag on but the other three carried him to the speeder. I looked away for a second in order to unlock the door, but I got hit with a lucky shot." Mallox took several breaths and nodded his head. "I think I'll be ok."

Re: Arno's Next

"I'm just glad to see you're alive, Mal." Lyla grunted in response. "Did you get a good look at any of them? Did they say what this was about?" She wanted to know if there some reason for this, and whether it was related to their mission or not. Perhaps they'd get lucky for once and get a clue.

Tera looked over Mallox with concern, fussing over his wounds. "They took our rental speeder, or another one? We could try chasing them...."

"The other one." Mallox said. "Anyone have a something to see things at a distance? We can see if they left a dirt trail and try to follow them." Mallox waved his hand in the direction of the desert.

"Only a rifle scope, but I can track anything." Lyla declared, the sort of bold statement that would inevitably be proven wrong, but oh well. "Come on, let's get on the road." Helping Mallox along if he needed it, Lyla headed to the rental speeder.

Zerrek patted Mallox lightly on the shoulder "Nice to see you're still among the living, Captain." He teased before heading off to his bike, getting ready to move with the speeder "Let's head back to town....We need to get fixed up..." He suggested after the rather unpleasant events they had just had.

Re: Arno's Next

Tera agreed with Mallox. "Look these people...they're the only lead we have to find Arno. Find Arno...find your dead general or bits of him....now actually thinking about it. If there was anywhere in the universe that someone could be lost without anyone finding them...Tattoine would be a good bet. I guess he could be alive...pretending to be a jawa dung herder. In any case, our only lead is the people that raided this place."

Re: Arno's Next

Despite her earlier declaration of her skills, Lyla wasn't exactly in favour of applying them. Being half-drowned had that effect on her. "Look, this is just a bit of gang warfare: nasty and stupid and unlucky, but none of our concern, and we're best staying out of it before it gets us killed."

"Who the frack is Arno anyway? He's not our mission. Tallon isn't even our mission, and our trail to him is dead—literally. He's safe, he can look after himself. No one can find him on Tatooine; those who could are now dead. We should just get back on the trail to Polmanar. Real people need us there, now."
She'd never fully agreed with this side-trip mission, and doubted Tallon's usefulness as a figurehead and a strategist, and his potential loyalties. People would be dying on Polmanar now, they needed the medical supplies, and that was a mission she could agree with. "Let's just go, deliver the codes, and get that sorted before we lose them or get ourselves killed. We can rest up, get credits and medpacs, then come back and poke around for Tallon at our leisure. He'll keep." she suggested, and quite reasonably she thought.

Re: Arno's Next

Willmar didn't like to admit it to himself, but Lyla's words made sense.  They didn't seem to be of much use here on this god-forsaken rock anymore.  Though he had before fought to come here, much had changed since then that might necessitate a change of direction.  He didn't speak, but nodded slightly at the suggestion.

Tallon, if he even was here, would have to wait for rescue.  Arno and the rest of that mess... well, Willmar figured that they just weren't his problem.
