Prequel - Ares Kendet

It had been a long time since what Ares remembered as the glory days of the Clone Wars. A time when Ares Kendet had friends he could trust and a Republic he believed in. Far away from the home on Coruscant he grown from Ares now dwelt on the Edge of the Empire. A rough and a wild place. A rogue outlaw with barely the means to get by, hiring his gun to settle petty territorial disputes at best or as a strong-arm for criminals and other villains at his lowest.

Ares could see no way home or a way forward. Even here at the Edge stormtroopers were becoming a common sight with a garrison on nearly every planet. The stormtroopers brought with them fear and the harsh rule of the Empire, neither of which offered Ares any solace.

Forced to keep on the move and go where the credits were Ares. He had taken up employment with Nood Dins, a Zabrak that called himself a merchant but Ares knew from the way that Nood operated that he was more like a smuggler. Nood had currently taken up residence in the Kwenn space station, at the far end of the Rimma trade route, a regular refuelling spot and supply point before the Outer Rim Territories. All Ares had to do was keep an eye on the shop and make enough of a threat to stop anyone trying to rob Nood. Nood’s shop was really nothing more than a large shipping crate in an empty loading bay on one of the lowest decks of the space station from which Nood sold his stock of contraband of death sticks, liquor, holovid and cheap clothes.

It was as Nood was shutting up his shop, the Zabrak had heard a report that the Star Destroyer Relentless was scheduled to dock and he was keen to move on, that Ares noticed a short and stocky person in a heavy cloak making his slow progress along a lower walkway toward them. The rumours of an Imperial Star Destroyer arriving had sent everyone scurrying into their holes so apart from the approach of the unknown the loading bay was empty and quiet.

Re: Prequel - Ares Kendet

Once Ares noticed the cloaked being moving towards them his hand instinctively gripped the handle of his blaster rifle. You can never be too careful out here in the fringes of the galaxy, or in any part of the galaxy these days. The glory days of the republic had indeed faded into memory and it seemed that the Empire was beginning to show its teeth everywhere. He took his gaze away from the small person for just a moment and glanced over at Nood to see what his reaction was to this newcomer heading towards them. "Where do you suppose that little fella is off to??" He wasn't to worried about the cloaked figure posing any sort of threat, at least not until whoever it was got closer to him and Nood. Ares continued to keep his eye on the cloaked figure but also was checking out the surrounding area with scrutiny to see if there were others around that were less noticeable.

OOC: keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. Also trying to identify the race of this cloaked figure if possible.

Re: Prequel - Ares Kendet

The Zabrak looked over his shoulder at Ares’s query. He shook his horned head and turned back to sealing up the transport crate “probably going to ground, the same as the rest of us. No-one who’s up to any good comes this far below the commercial section of the station” Nood checked the lock on his shop a last time then began to shuffle away, a man trying to act casual when his nerves had been rattled. In the circles that Ares now frequented no one liked it when a Star Destroyer was in the Sector.

Re: Prequel - Ares Kendet

There was definitely something about approaching the being, Ares could tell as he kept his eye on them. The first thing Ares deduced was that he was wasn’t human, the next thing that the reason he was wearing a cloak was to hide the battle armour he was wearing underneath. As it got closer Ares could see that it was also wearing a helmet which made identifying who or what it was almost impossible. The flickering and poorly maintained lights of the lower levels didn’t help either but Ares picked up the movement of the being’s hands as they seemed to be manipulating something under the cloak as it walked.

Re: Prequel - Ares Kendet

"You want me to check him out Nood?" Ares asked his employer. The cloaked alien was making him even more nervous with every second he watched him which is why his grip on his repeating rifle got tighter and tighter. He was always nervous of anyone he thought was suspicious which was, more often then not, pretty much everybody he met these days. Being an Imperial deserter would probably mean a death sentence for him should he be caught so Ares felt like everyone was out to get him. The only reason he may have an inkling of trust for anyone at this point was when they paid him credits and paid him those credits on time. Which is something Nood was good at. So for the time being he trusted him.

OOC: Does the cloaked alien seem as though he is heading right for us? Or is it just passing by?

Re: Prequel - Ares Kendet

As he waited for Noods reply, Ares slowly started to walk towards the cloaked figure, trying his best to look as intimidating as possible. "Hello there friend...you...ahh...looking for someone?" Ares winced slightly at his own words as they came out of his mouth. He didn't really have a way with words. He never had to really...most encounters he had were solved with his rifle.

Re: Prequel - Ares Kendet

The battle armoured being was intent on reaching them it seemed as it began to walk up a ramp leading to the loading bay occupied by Nood’s store of contraband goods. When its clear to Nood that they have a visitor whether welcome or not the Zabrak shakes his head to Ares “you can if you want I’m getting out of here” the Zabrak then with the characteristic ease of an experienced smuggler makes himself scarce.

By this time the cloaked figure had made its way up the ramp. It stood impassively at the top and examined Ares. Three fingered hands continued to play across the combination old-style computer and sensor array around its neck. Breathing apparatus connects to the helmet and swirling gases can be seen within the visor.

“Ares Kendet” it answered. It was then momentarily distracted as its fingers moved more rapidly “we must go” it then turned to toward a ramp leading upward.

OOC Sorry for taking a few days to update, there’s lots to do with adding in all the new players.

Re: Prequel - Ares Kendet

Ares held out his right hand palm facing the alien gesturing for the alien to stop. "Whoa there pal. You can't just waltz right up to someone and tell them to come with you. I'm not going anywhere until you tell me who you are and what you want from me! And keep your hands....or whatever you have where I can see them!" Ares was trying to wrack his brain to try to identify this beings species. He thought it may be Gand but wasn't exactly sure at the moment.

OOC: Trying to at least remember basic knowledge of the aliens species
