Breaking and Entering

Getting dirty and greasy in the engine room was no chore for Klyn. The rebel engineer enjoyed the task and was confident that when the others returned with or without Adar Tallon he would be able to offer them a quick getaway. It was a matter of pride for Klyn. Something however could not be fixed by mechanical genius alone. The harsh desert atmosphere of Tatooine had burned out various EAU (Equalising Amplitude Units) through out the Alabak’s Gold. Klyn had been able to salvage some from non essential controls panels; there were some he couldn’t replace however. He didn’t have the credits to buy more so he’d have to think of something else.

Klyn knew that on every planet with an Imperial Office there would also be an Imperial store of ship parts to maintain the Imperial Fleet whenever it passed by. The Imperial Government Office was here in Mos Eisley near to their docking bay, so the Imperial stores could not be far away. Could he steal the parts from the Imperials? Would he dare? If not he’d have to confess to the others that he was unable to repair the ship.

Re: Breaking and Entering

Throwing one of the dead circuit away with a few curses, Klyn once again checked his options.

First one was not even remotely possible: they needed a way to get the hell out of here and failure wasn't allowed.

Second was a good one... if it suddenly rained credits.

Last one was the only was.  Not that he didn't like the idea of stealing from imperials : that was in fact a very entertaining idea, but it would not be easy. And capture might put the others in trouble.

Checking his gear he leaves a small note in the ship, just in case.
'Went shopping at the Office's store' with 'shopping' in italic.

Then begins the journey toward the imperial sector for a little recon walk.

Re: Breaking and Entering

Outside Docking Bay 94 the twin suns of Tatoo I and Tatoo II beat down on Klyn fiercely. The streets are busy with many humans, droids and aliens of all kinds moving through the crowds. Their pace hurried as landspeeders roar by, uncomfortably close. A swarm of rancid smelling Jawa jostle passed. A more wretched hive of sum and villainy you’ll not find elsewhere.

The Regional Government Office was a short walk through the centre of Mos Eisley. The office was administered by Prefect Orun Depp. Behind the office is the Mos Eisley militia, a mixed force of local militiamen and stormtroopers. Next door is the Dewback stables. Unfortunately if it is nearby the Imperial Store is not signposted.

Re: Breaking and Entering

Stopping, Klyn sighs and looks around.

'Well, I didn't expected it to be easy... I would have liked easy'

His next step involved finding a terminal and try to get some plans. Not even recent one, but plans of the building - even before the imperials arrived- could give him some insight on where to look... and how to get there.

Re: Breaking and Entering

The Mos Eisley Inn is on the other side of the Regional Government Office from the Dewback Stables. The inn is rundown and dilapidated but actually the better of the two hotels available to space-weary travellers. The inn has its own café which Klyn could use if he wanted to sit down and watch the office, it also has terminals with holonet access available to rent. Inside the Imperial Office Klyn can see a reception desk and terminal in the lobby as well as several doors leading to other rooms. All the doors are presently shut and a stormtrooper stands in the lobby.

Re: Breaking and Entering

Klyn has no wish to attract attention by staying for too long in sight of the guard.

He walks casually to the inn, asking to access to the holonet and inquiring about the price. Of course, he needed the access, so he would pay but there was maybe a chance to spare a few credits.

Re: Breaking and Entering

The clerk at the Inn a typically gruff resident of Mos Eisley and after taking the small charge from Klyn for a cup of caf and the rental of a terminal he paid no mind to the greasy engineer as he went to sit himself down by a clear plastoid window. Drinking his caf, which was weak and warm rather than strong and hot, Klyn was able to watch the Imperial Office and also obtain a read out of the floor plans. From his observations and the building plans Klyn learns that as well as the public front lobby entrance there is access to the building from the rear. The doorway is used by the Prefect, his militia and the Stormtroopers. Reports say that the total contingent of the Imperial presence in Mos Eisley is the Prefect, four locally hired militiamen and six Imperial Stormtroopers. Although the rear door is in regular use Klyn estimates he could work out a time when he would expect it to be unused for fifteen minutes, if he wanted to try and get in that way. He can see that it is locked and fitted with security he would have to bypass.

From the plans of the office Klyn can be sure that there is not enough room to store any serious amount of Starship parts there. The stores must be either somewhere else or underground. Considering the small number of men the Prefect has at his disposal and the lawlessness of the Outer Rim however the Prefect has kept the exact location of any valuable resources under wraps. The only way to find out for sure where they are would be access the Prefect’s computer, follow him or question him.

OOC Buying a cup of caf and renting a terminal for an hour wouldn’t even cost 1cr so at the moment we’ll skip any costs and accept that Klyn paid with whatever loose change in had in his overall pockets.
