Re: Pirates Ahoy

"I'd put your hands where I can see them right now or we will have problems, 'friend'." Ares said coolly and calmly as he kept his rifle trained on the stranger. "Now who are you and what have you come here for?"

Re: Pirates Ahoy

“That might be difficult” the bearded man chuckled. Slowly he shifted his shoulders to draw his cape back. He held both his arms out front. True enough he was able to show Ares a hand, his left one. His right arm however ended in a knife blade, the hand missing.

“I’m Quist” he answered Ares first question “and I’m here to see an old friend Adar Tallon. His name is suddenly hot news, I’m here to help” he responded to the second.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

"Quist eh? I've heard of you. Nice touch with blade. You're some sort of pirate right? Well, I'm not going to just let some pirate waltz right in here..." Ares turned his head slightly so the others could hear him better. "Somebody get the Commander on a com and let him know that the infamous Quist is here to see him." He turned back to Quist. "Once the Commander says you check out we will let you inside. You understand the precautions, I'm sure."

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Someone, somewhere behind Ares commed Tallon and let him know the identity of their latest guest. In the meantime Quist nodded and smiled at Ares “it is handy” he jested, making a demonstration swipe with his right arm before tugging it back out of sight beneath his cape “I’ve been in a few tight scrapes. Some of them with the Commander.”

“Sure you have too. We all served the Republic one time didn’t we? You heard about the Dalchon incident, that was me. All in this together. How many we got?”
the pirate asked.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Plugging into one of the ubiquitous scomp links from his concealed position T3-M8 makes use of the base's hardline intercom to project the conversation he is witnessing for Commander Tallen's own benefit, simultaneously recording the commander's response over the same com system, which at the commander's discretion can be projected by his own on board holoprojector around the corner to where Ares shouts down at the man on the ground.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Ares lowered his rifle to his side and dragged his fingers of his free hand across the scars that crisscross his face, an ever present reminder of how mortal he really was. "I've been in some tough scrapes myself. I'm sure all of us here have. Served under the Commander during the clone wars. Brilliant tactician that one. I have heard of the Dalchon incident. Pretty barvy stuff. Ares stopped and looked around briefly when Quist asked how many of them there were. "You make ten. Plus a model T-3 droid. You'd probably like him. Kinda looks like one of those old timey holovid pirates, eye patch and all."

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Mention of the T-3 droid was accompanied a whirring and a flickering of light as a hologram of Tallon appeared facing the pirate Quist.

The Commander appraised the pirate silently for a moment then smiled “good to see you old friend. Come to join us? Myself I’m tiring of hiding” the hologram of Tallon then began to fade; before it vanished completely it gave a final order “let Quist into the hangar.”

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Issuing the necessary instructions to the Hanger door to open for the speeder T3-M8 takes the internal path down to the ground floor to meet up with the new arrival, and begins inspecting the speeder for both damage and subterfuge.  After opening and closing a few supposedly 'secret' compartments inevitably found on any pirate craft that apparently hold nothing of significant concern or interest T3-M8 flags the craft as secure which allows it into the repair section of the hanger, and removes any heightened security measures from the list of procedural requirements that any of the other droids on the base would need to bother with before interacting with it.

By this time the organics have had plenty of time to sort out their own security quarantine procedures to their variously designed hearts delight.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Ares nods to Quist as if to say come come in. He then makes his way back inside and down to the hanger. Hearing the commander speak about growing tired of hiding brought a jolt of excitement to him. And he hoped that, perhaps, this famous pirate has brought more than just himself to join the forces already present here.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Gathering in the hangar Quist’s Mobquet A-1 is scanned and searched by T3-M8 and declared safe and of no further interest. Quist left the landspeeder next to Tallon’s own speeder; the hangar was roomy enough that it could fit another four easily. This was as well as the four old starfighters. Despite their apparent age the starfighters were in good condition. The hangar had plenty of machines, parts and tools.

Still chewing his SoroSuub chew Quist allowed himself to be checked. His personal possessions being little more than a blaster pistol and plenty more chew. Smooth, friendly and courteous in a roguish way Quist soon had himself settled with the Commander, his wife and the other soldiers. Tallon was pleased to have Quist arrive and to all that observed it was as if Quist was to be the last arrival as the Commander now began to plan their next move. Ordering the checking of supplies and maintenance of equipment, weapons and the starfighters.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Ares followed orders and began checking his gear. He was a little low on power packs and a spare medpak couldn't hurt either. He spent some time asking some of the other soldiers if they knew where he could get his hands on these basic items and possibly some armor. He then took to doing maintanence on his rifle. After he was done with that, he made his way to the hangar to see if he could lend a hand with repairs and maintanence of the star fighters.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

The imminent departure from the fortress had everyone on alert and the stores were open for all to take what they could. Unfortunately there was no great hoard for Ares to plunder. Rather he managed to scrounge a three power packs and a medpac from the fort’s stores before all had been distributed amongst the small force of Tallon’s rebel force.

His own familiar rifle was given a thorough overhaul and maintenance. The old starfighters were unfamiliar to Ares and offering to help he was more in the way than helpful.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

After he gathered all his gear, cleaned his rifle and saw that he was more of a burden in the hangar than a help, Ares decided to head to the main living area to get some grub and R&R while he awaited the order to move out. I hope we go somewhere that's a little less hot.. he thought to himself as he tried to get comfortable, his combat jumpsuit a little damp from perspiration. The sooner I get off this blasted rock, the better...

Re: Pirates Ahoy

More time went on within the confines of the fort. Bounty hunters were spotted coming into Tusken Canyon but Tallon sent some of the soldiers out to deal with them. Tol and Gample came back cheered with the exercise and their success. They had ambushed the bounty hunters and defeated them without any serious injury to themselves.

Another day passed then Tol came into the hangar and called over to Ares and T3-M8. She spoke with the confidence of her previous victory still in her voice “Imperial spies have entered the canyon and approached the fort. Tallon wants to meet them. We are all to move toward the music room and wait for him to have his audience with them.”

Ares hefted his rifle up and let it rest on his shoulder as he began to exit the hangar on his ways to the music room. "Imperial spies? Here? I wonder if they might be defecting to the alliance as well. If that's the case they could be very useful. At any rate, letting them leave here would be a bad idea." he said to Tol as she turned and left the hangar. He looked down at M8. "Well, lets go see what they have to say."

Offering what is now easily identifiable as a bleep of assent T3-M8 whirs off down the hall to a small service hatch which he activates and slides through into the silence of the wall, disappearing into the darkness at full speed into a passage way to small for any human to stand upright in, and thin enough that many could not even crawl through it, surely not in any sort of armor.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

In the music room Commander Adar Tallon is attired all in black and sits beside the pipe organ as it plays a melancholy tune. With him is the caped pirate Quist, chewing a stick of SoroSuub. Both are talking amiably as Ares and Tol walk in. Beside the music room is a power shed a small chamber housing the power generators that supply the energy that runs all the equipment in the fort. It is a very small room with ample sockets and controls for a T3 unit to squeeze into and monitor everything that occurs within the fortress.

Tallon smiled at Ares and Tol “wait in the garden. I wish to speak with the spies before we detain them. My signal to enter will be when the music stops” the garden is next to the music room.

Ares nods his head at the Commander and exits the music room into the garden and closes the door after Tol. He then turned his back to the door and leaned up against the door frame. "Do you know how many of these spies there are, Tol?" he asked as he checked to make sure the safety on his rifle was disengaged.

“Jungen says they have been creeping about for a while. Two of them have approached the fort but he reckons at least another two are also hiding in the ruins in Tusken Canyon” the soldier answered Ares.

In the garden a clear-domed roof lets sunlight in. Plants from many different worlds adorn the garden. It is a tranquil, idyllic setting. In the very centre of the garden is a statue of Adar Tallon, wearing an Old Republic naval uniform. A stick of SoroSuub Chew lies discarded on one of the paths.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Looking around at all the beauty of the various plants from all over the galaxy, he took this rare opportunity soak in all the peaceful tranquility. The statue of Tallon in the middle of garden caught his eye. "It's been a while since I've seen Tallon dressed like that. Brings back memories, good and bad." he said as he walked slowly up to it. Then, the stick of chew came to his attention. It seems like a shame to litter in such a nice place he thought as he walked over to the discarded chew. Once on the path the chew was on he stooped down, picked it up and gave it a quick look before he put it in his pocket to be thrown away later. Ares stood and began to walk further down the path to see what sights this path had to offer, listening for the break in the music that would signal Tallon was ready to detain the spies.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Monitoring the fort’s sensors and the music room T3-M8 tracks a single unidentified lifeform within the complex. The lifeform is human. The human lifeform entered the music room and eavesdropping the conversation the droid picks up these words “I am Tera Inkari. We've been looking for you and unfortunately so have all of the bounty hunters on Tattoine. A nasty one by the name of Jodo Kast first and foremost among them. I don't think you're safe here any more. I'll call my friends to come in now. An Ilthorian, a twi'lek and a human. Anyone else appears you may strongly wish to shoot them. Do one of you have a comlink I could borrow?”

A quick cross referencing the name with holonet records reveals Tera Inkari as an Imperial Navy Medical Officer. The designer of a biological weapon that killed thousands giving her the moniker the Butcher of Bokur.

Ares heard the music stop and hurried to the door next to Tol."That's our cue!" he said. He opened the door and allowed Tol to enter the music room first and followed close behind her. Once inside the room he leveled his rifle on the unknown persons and stood ready to apprehend the Imperial spies once the order was given by the Commander.

Rather than roll into the room T3-M8 picks a more effective way to pass the time, tapping into the fort's com system the droid makes sure it is set up to record the next few conversations that take place both locally and through the com net, in addition to the on board recordings from it's own sensors.

Re: Pirates Ahoy

Listening over the fort’s com system T3-M8 hears the female biological say “I was an officer of the Imperial Navy at one point in my life. I have not been in the Navy for quite some time. I cannot profess to know what the Emperor wants as I do not know or care what he wants. If you know my second name, then you know what the Empire has accused me of. It is a fabrication. A lie. A convenient way to rid themselves of an officer with a conscience. I tried to fight it within the system and failed, failed to the point I ended up here hiding like yourself on a backwater planet which the Empire does not pay much attention to. I was an officer in the Imperial Navy, medical corps if you care to look. I was a scientist, not a ships officer, and my research was suborned to create a horrific weapon. I am not your enemy, nor the Emperor's pawn. The rebellion put me here to put me somewhere out of the way where I wouldn't be found, but I fear that all the activity on the planet with bounty hunters looking for you, has made this place no longer safe for me either.”
