Meeting Adar Tallon

The inside of the old fort is comfortable and homey. Elegant yet simple furniture show a woman’s touch. Repairs and maintenance have not been neglected. Driven forward by the lizardman you enter a chamber full of strange alien instruments but dominated by a massive pipe organ. The chamber has a high domed ceiling and lavish furnishings. The musical instruments stand silent as a Tera stands surrounded. In front of her an old man dressed in plain black tunic sips from a long glass. At his side is the battle armoured Gand, a female human and a male human in a long cape.

At the sides of the room and with guns trained on Tera are two more humans, a man and a woman. As Oglo and Lyla move to stand beside Tera the Trandoshan stepped into the room to block the exit them.

“Your companion” the old man points to Tera “Imperial Officer Inkari tells me you bring a message. What it is that Emperor Palpatine has sent you to tell me?”

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

"If you know I'm an officer, then you know enough to know I was a medical officer and no longer part of the service. Do you really need to continue this?" Tera waved to the others as they arrived "Not to mention the fact that Oglo is Ilthorian and Lyla is Twi'lek. I doubt the Empire with its xenophobic stance would let me work with them, if I were an agent. The 'well, but maybe that's what they want me to think' argument is not one that can be argued against. No matter what behaviour or proof is available that I'm no longer part of the Emperor's forces, you will take it as proof of my complicity with them." Tera frowned "It's more than a little unfair."

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

As they were led into the room, Lyla took in the scene. Too many goons, too many guns, too many pointed at Tera, and now her and Oglo. Crap. She listened to the argument between Tera and the guy purported to be Tallon. "This is as far as you got in ten minutes, Tera?" Apparently, Tera's background had worked against her. Lyla regretted not going in her place.

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

Oglo felt disappointed and just a little miffed.  It took all his effort to keep himself under control so he doesn't reach out and strange Tera.  Ironically, such an action might bring him more in favor with Tallon.  Mostly he was disappointed.  He really expected better from Tera.  She seemed so confident earlier.

"We waited ten minutes out in the broiling suns and this is what you accomplish, Tera?  Ten minutes and all you've done is kill your credibility?  You're so ashamed of what The Empire did with your work.  So why can't you extend that to being ashamed of what you were?  A little humility can get you a long way.", he rants out hastily.  So much for playing dumb.  He then stands still and breaths hard.  Such a long and speedy rant took all the air in his lungs to belt out.

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

Tera raised an eyebrow "I'm not ashamed of my service to the Empire. My role was as a medic, Oglo. I saved people's lives. The Empire is not an artificial construct where everyone in it is filled with spite and hatred and xenophobia. There are many good people working in it. When you come from Corellia and are from a poor family you do not have many options in life. I joined the Navy and had my training paid for. Not everyone in it is evil. I just had my eyes opened only after they modified my work. I might still be there today, if I was less thorough in my investigations." Tera made a very rude gesture in Oglo's direction. "When encountering someone who has access to Imperial records, anything and everything I say equates to...'she's an Imperial spy'. Most can get over that, but apparently not General Tallon."

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

Ares heard Tera talk about growing up in a poor family and joining to help get a better life struck close to home with him. He remember back to when he was a kid on Coruscant having to beg, borrow and steal for his family to survive. He remembers joining the Republic Army as soon as he could to escape that life. Then, when the Emperor came to power and Ares was forced to do things he didn't believe we're just, he deserted. These people are on in the same ship as me... he thought. Perhaps it was time to start taking what they say seriously...

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

For an alleged pacifist, the Ithorian sure could be passive-aggressive. "Leave it, Oglo, it's not the time." she snapped as he stretched her own incredulity into an insult. They didn't need to be bickering among themselves in front of the guy they were purporting to rescue.

She turned to 'Tallon'. Was it really him? Finally? She wanted to punch the old git in the face for being so much trouble to find, to get to, for all those killed by bounty hunters trying to reach him. He better be bloody well worth it. "And stuff your Emperor!" she retorted hotly. "We're from the Rebel Alliance, and so's Tera, and we're here to help you. The Empire knows you're alive and on Tatooine and they sent a fracking army of bounty hunters to get you, and a star destroyer isn't far behind. They know you're here and they're getting closer."

OOC: Perception (Spot) 22: is this really Tallon? Does he match the photo?
Perception (Sense Motive) 27, rolled a 20: checking to see if Tallon and his lot will speak truthfully
Fringe Savant: if this counts as an encounter, then gain 1 free FP

I moved part of my earlier post here where it now makes more sense.

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

To all that Tera said Adar nodded “many times I have identified the actions of the Emperor and his Empire as unfair. It has made be cautious for myself, for Kay” he indicated his wife beside him “and my friends. Quist, Jungen, Shrike, Ares and Tol” he continued as looked to his many companions that filled the room.

“If I accepted the word of every being that approached me I wouldn’t be alive now to talk with you” he justified his actions. It was then as Tallon spoke that something in the room beeped. The caped man who Tallon had named Quist pulled his hands from beneath his cloak. One hand is missing and in its place is a gleaming blade. He pressed a button on his armband and the beeping stops. He then pulls his blaster and aims it at Kay Tallon “I’m sorry commander but there’s no other way” with that the door swings open and armed bounty hunters enter the room.

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

Well, Tallon — and it was Tallon, ageing the photo she'd studied a few decades — seemed to be accepting their story. Plus, it seemed no one here had actually seen what she'd done outside the fort earlier, so things were going well.

So she wasn't surprised when it all turned to crap. Again. Lyla watched events unfold with incredulity. "Oh, for frack's sake." she muttered, more annoyed than anything else. Apparently, no one was keeping watch in this bloody fort after all. Her efforts to scout it out had probably been pointless.

She swung her blaster rifle around to a position of self-defence, pointing it at the twit in the cape. "So, I'm guessing you're the one that spilled the beans to Captain Parian, right?"

Tera was completely unarmed thanks to surrendering her blaster pistol to the brute with the repeater. There wasn't really much of anything she could do. She raised her arms walking towards the one that was addressed as Quist.

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

Oglo wondered why the bounty hunters would wait so long to strike if they had been inside the fortress for so long.  Could it be they were waiting for all their targets to come together into one place?  If so then he regretted his decision to come inside.  He had walked into a trap.  Even so, if he had remained outside then there was little he could do to help.  Then the opportunity to recruit Commander Tallon to the Rebel cause would be lost.  He knew though that by waiting so long to strike, this Quist has revealed his greatest weakness: arrogance.  That trait alone, Oglo felt, was the worst undoer of people who might have achieved great things.  They try to accomplish too much all at once.

The end of his blaster pressed against the wife of Adar Tallon’s wife’s head Quist nods his head to the invading bounty hunters and battle ensued as the three forces were set upon each other.

Jodo Kast Attacks

OOC Roll Initiative if you beat 33 you can act first. There are plenty of musical instruments, typical furniture i.e. chairs, small tables and smaller personal items like drinking cups and bottles in the room as the battle has so many participants I kept the background to a minimum.

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

Quick to act and take advantage of their invasion Jodo Kast and Zardra opened fire. Much faster than anyone else in the room the dark haired woman took her time before aiming a shot at Jungen. The gruff Trandoshan had been taken by surprise and her shot hit but the lizardman was made of stern stuff and his tough scales reduced it to naught but a glancing blow. He huffed in anger but moments later the brightness in his eyes faded slightly as Jodo Kast fired a dart from his wrist launcher. The small projectile sunk into the soldier’s arm and its effect was easily noticed as Jungen’s posture slumped. He fired a volley of blaster fire back from his blaster fire but he fired wildly and has sting was lost. From the back of the room the battle armoured Gand fired but his bolt missed its target too. Chaos continued to spill across the room as the female soldier, Tol fired her pistol. The shot accurate enough to go clean through the skull of one of the bounty hunters.

OOC It’ll be a bit of muddle here but everyone post your actions and I’ll post a summary after.

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

So much for talking. And now, after so much struggling and hunting, here they were face to face with Jodo Kast and that black-haired cow. Lyla snatched the smoke screamer off her belt, pressing the timer. "Hey, Jodo! Say hi to Puggles for me!" She tossed it a short distance, letting it bounce and roll right under the bounty hunters, hoping to catch that bitch who'd assaulted Oasis.

OOC: Throw smoke screamer into the bunch of bounty hunters. I don't know the stats or area for it. Obviously trying to include the most bad guys, but especially Zardra.
Move: take smoke screamer from utility belt
Standard: throw screamer
Ranged attack 20

Swift: switch blaster rifle to auto-fire

Ares leveled his repeating blaster at the group of hunter go barged through the door, bracing the weapon against his hip slightly to help steady it. He let loose of volley of blaster fire but he lost control of his weapon spraying blaster bolts everywhere except where he wanted to.

2 swifts: brace autofire only weapon for -2 instead of -5
Standard: Autofire attack on Zandra and hunter 2

07:46, Today: Ares Kendet rolled 3 using 1d20+2. Autofire on Zandra and Hunter2.

Figures I would roll a 1 on the opening combat round of the big finale fight...I'm pretty sure the dice roller is laughing at me right now.

Re: Meeting Adar Tallon

Oglo was no regretting coming inside the Fort.  He figured all the bounty hunters for dead.  He was wrong though because he didn't know bounty hunters from Tallon's loyal soldiers.  From Oglo's perspective, they all seemed to be the same type of person.  And those are violent persons; definitely not like Oglo.

He was in the middle of a fight that was none of his business.  He was the target of the bounty hunters, although he was in their line of fire.  His pacifism demanded that he only attack if attacked first.  His friends put no such limits on themselves.  Even though he personally didn't like Tera and found much fault in the way she thinks of herself, he still saw someone who had generally good, although misguided, intentions.  So he didn't consider her a threat to him.  Nor was she much of a threat to the bounty hunters without a weapon.  So Oglo opened up his holster and pulled out his Sporting Blaster Pistol.  But he didn't hold it the way you would to use it.  Instead he handed it over to Tera.

OOC: Move: Draw Weapons
     Standard: Hand Weapon to Tera
