Klyn did his best to try to outsmart the tie, but something didn't feel right. Maybe he still had some remaining condition from the stun grenade or the explosion somehow altered the commands...

Anyways, this was not his best day.

Re: Blast off from Mos Eisley

The TIE fighters came screaming toward them, their laser cannons firing. Arcs of energy whooshed by the Alabak's Gold as the lead TIE lined up it's shot. The Force was with the rebels however as although the TIE pilots were well drilled and used expert tactics the laser beam skimmed across the bow of the starship leaving no more damage than a little carbon scoring.

OOC Ok everyone is up. The TIE are at medium range and trying to close. You can try to run, charge at them or stand still. It's up to you.

Don't forget you can use skills to Aid Another i.e. sensor operator can Use Computer DC10 to grant gunner +2 bonus, vehicle commander can grant +2 to attack roll DC10 Knowledge (tactics) as well as any normal starship actions.

Re: Blast off from Mos Eisley

Dropping the mike, Lyla held tight to the seats as the Gold swung back and forth, trying to dodge the TIE fighters. Crap! It was too late to summon some cover now, and there wasn't much she could do to help get them out of this.

Making a choice, she jumped into the gun turret, settling her bum into the seat and grabbing the controls. How do I work this thing? She'd been given some instructions and practice when they first got the ship, but they weren't at the forefront of her mind right now. Lyla swung the cannon to face the nearest TIE fighter and sprayed hot laser fire in its general direction, more of a distraction than a serious threat though.

OOC:
Swift: go in the gun turret
Standard: attack nearest TIE fighter
Attack: −5 for range, −5 for non-proficiency, +2 from ship
Attack 1, damage 30
16:04, Today: Lyla Rahn rolled 11 using 1d20+6. laser cannon attack

Tera peered over the assistance the T3 droid was offering let it take over as it seemed to be doing a much better job than her. "Good. Here, let me help if I can." She glanced and realising no-one else was going to take the second gunnery position headed for it herself. "Uh, this is Tera, what are we shooting at?". Seeing something moving fast on teh corner of the screen, Tera reached out for it and with a spark of intuition figured out where it was moving towards. Her fire lanced out towards it as she fired on it.

OOC: I am sure someone else has a higher BAB than me and can take over the shooty position

And then....just when I think the die roller is biased against me....a Nat 20
19:35, Today: Tera Inkari rolled 20 using 1d20. shoot tie fighter. +3

Re: Blast off from Mos Eisley

Klyn curses in tense low voice as the TIE's beam barely misses his precious ship.

Hoping the gunners will be able to follow... and all the others are either fastened or holding something, he begins a few maneuver to make it harder for the TIE fighters to lock on them while still trying to run as fast as possible.Of course, this might make things a bit harder for the gunners too...

But there is definitively something wrong with the controls...  A check up might be needed, if they get out of trouble, that is?

... I'm cursed...

Oglo stood by as others rushed around the ship getting to guns.  He was really out of his element now.  Not only was the violence disagreeable to him, but all this use of technology made his head spin.  "Ummm.... Oglo go make... hrmmm... fertilizer in the refresher.", he said to no one in particular because no one had the time to listen.

With the sensors online T3-M8 turns his focus to the question of navigation, putting a few helpful hints where they can be of use to the pilot, and or fixing a few ill considered commands before they get from the pilot's controls to the ship's systems the little droid does what it can to streamline things.

Re: Blast off from Mos Eisley

Flying by formation the TIE fighters closed in on the larger and slower Calamari jumpship. Green laser beams arced through the blackness of space. Klyn flew by guts and instinct, rolling the ship to evade all the incoming fire. In the gun turrets Lyla and Tera scattered a serie of red lasers beam. Lyla shot went wide by Tera's beam pierced a hole clean through one of the fighter's wings.

OOC I'll be kind considering the amount of 1's you have all rolled and say Klyn was Fighting Defensively then. It means Tera still hits but will be enough for the TIE fighter to miss.

As the Alabak's Gold is alot slower than a TIE fighter the range has decreased to Short. The TIE hit by Tera is -1 CT. So you can post attacks easier the TIEs has REF 15, the damaged one 14. Short range -2 to hit or if Klyn crazy enough he could fly into Point Blank to offset that.

The TIE fighters closed in, laser beams raining past them. Screaming wildly, Lyla jerked her controls around trying to track them, but the TIE fighters moved up and down and they were moving too fast and the Alabak was swooping side-to-side dodging them and she was barely familiar with a big clunky laser cannon. She was completely lost and out of control. This wasn't at all like hunting womp rats.

Wait. Calm the frack down. Ride the storm. Be the hunter. Seeing Tera tag one, Lyla noticed the damaged wing, a lean to the left. She tracked it, led her target, fired. The laser beam lanced across space and struck the damaged TIE fighter. 'Yah!' she yelled, feeling victorious.

With the fighters closing in, Klyn let go any idea of outrunning them : they didn't have enough of a head start to counter their quickness.

The only thing to do was to buy time until T3 gave them the go for starting the hyper drive.

"Get a hold on something, this might get a little rough..." he warned the others.

With the immediate threat of the TIE fighters apparently under control, or at least drawing the focus of enough organics that it should be soon T3-M8 turns his attention to the next stage and tries to coax the nav-computer into more effective action in plotting a quick jump away from here to anywhere unlikely to be instantly fatal rather than focusing on some meaningful objective that may take longer to calculate.

Re: Blast off from Mos Eisley

Sensing easy prey the pilots of the TIE fighters closed in and began to circle the slow moving Alabak's Gold green laser shots criss-crossed the starship's path. Klyn was one of the best pilots the rebels knew but as much as he rolled and jinxed the ship he couldn't avoid such concentrated fire. The ship bucked and shook as a blast of green laser burned through her shields.

Tera and Lyla swivelled and twisted in their gunnery seats replying to the TIEs fire with their own bright red lasers. For a moment Lyla had the damaged TIE in her gunnery computer sights but as Klyn yanked hard to starboard she lost her target at the last moment.

Jacked into the nav computer T3-M8 began the calculations to plot a course. The nav computer's memory banks had a chart for the Isis system but it was going to take time to find a safe course.

OOC I took the liberty of moving the combat on as Tera had already rolled her attack.

The TIE have closed to Point Blank Range and sticking there.

They scored a hit and the Alabak's Gold has taken 34 damage and her shields are reduced to SR10.

T3-M8 begins plotting a course for the Isis system, they will be able to jump to light speed in 6 rounds.

Lyla swore as her sights were yanked away from the damaged TIE fighter, then the Gold was peppered with laser fire. 'Damn it all.' But at least the fighters came in closer — close enough to hit the Gold, but close enough for her to hit them back. A bit. Finding an undamaged fighter circling past, clear as day, Lyla switched targets, led the fighter, then fired off a solid laser-bolt.

Oglo went back to the cargo hold to keep an eye on his hydroponics.  If the ship was going to be rocked around a lot, he worried more about injury to his beloved plants than to himself.  When the ship was hit though, he saw that only a little water sloshed out onto the deck.  That was a relief.  When a lot of water gets sloshed out, then you know the ship is about to go down.  Oglo had no desire to crash land in the desert.  He had had enough of that dry, desolate place for one day.

Re: Blast off from Mos Eisley

Even pushing the Navcomp as hard as it can go T3-M8 has a little bit of spare computational power and devotes it to coordinating the ships less obvious, but equally important systems, beginning with the fluctuations in the shields in an effort to prolong their usefulness.

Standard Action: Navigation.  11:55, Today: T3-M8 rolled 27 using 1d20+10. Use Computer.
Move, Swift Actions: Start up Recharge Shields. 11:56, Today: T3-M8 rolled 33 using 1d20+15. Mechanics.
It is unclear if multiple system operators can combine actions for shield recharge or if you can work faster at a higher DC so I rolled anyways, if not then the roll will kick in next turn with the third swift action.

Re: Blast off from Mos Eisley

Just as the TIE fighters had the Alabak's Gold surrounded another starfighter came hurtling out of Tatooine's dusty atmosphere. The fighters came directly at them, bursts of red energy firing from it's triple blaster cannons. It was one of Tallon's old Z-95 Headhunters. On the intercom came the familiar sound of Mallox's voice "hey guys you didn't think I'd leave you did you? Now hit that button and make that jump to hyperspace. You look after the Gold for me. I'll meet you at the base"

Spinning the old starfighter Mallox started his attack run and his strafing shots destroyed one of the TIEs. The Imperial ship exploding in a burst of sparks and debris. The other two saw the threat and veered away from the Calmari jumpship to retaliate. Green lasers arced across space but Mallox had his fighter under control and weaved passed every shot.

OOC The first TIE has been destroyed. The second was badly damaged by Lyla but not quite destroyed. The third is undamaged.

Mallox uses Born Leader as a swift action so Tera and Lyla get +1 to attack.

T3-M8 is one swift action away from Recharging the Shields back to full power.

Lyla whooped in joy as she scored a solid hit on the TIE fighter, feeling like she might do this and live after all.

She was also glad to see the other fighter join the battle, and gladder still to hear a familiar voice from it. 'I was wondering where you got to.' Lyla commed back. 'Stay safe. We'll be away in a bit.' She cheered as Mal destroyed one of the TIEs. Things were looking up.

'Thanks, T, I see it.' Lyla jerked the targeting reticule around to the untouched TIE and fired a spray of laser bolts across Tera's, cutting across the TIE's path. There was nowhere to escape. 'Eat hot laser, bitch!' Lyla yelled, full of adrenaline and the sweet taste of victory.

Mallox's 'just in time' intervention removed a lot of pressure from Klyn's shoulder.

And his gunners apparently didn't wand to be overshadowed.  Suddenly their situation looked a lot brighter.

But they were not out of trouble yet, so he kept a defensive flight plan.

Oglo paced back and forth in the cargo hold with nervous energy.  There was nothing he could do the effect the outcome... and outcome he very much suspected would result in his death.  It was like being in a deathtrap waiting to die.

By instinct, he spoke to his plants, though sadly his plants never spoke a reply.  There was a side of him like a memory from a past life that told him that the plants should reply.  "It'll be alright, my dears.  I have complete faith in Lyla and Klyn.", he lied.  He was then immediately disturbed by just how easy it had become for him to lie.  Before he had known there was no point in lieing when the only people around to lie to was himself and his plants.  They all knew the truth so there wasn't any point in lieing.  Now there was a point.  The point being making himself feel better.  But knowing he was lieing made him feel bad in an entirely new way.  At least it somewhat kept him mind off the fact that he is about to die.

Dog fighting the two star fighters screamed toward each other, a cascade of green and red laser fire unleashed from both of them. The TIE fighter scored a hit against the Z-95 Headhunter. The shields of the old starfighter flickered but Mallox kept the fighter under control and his returning fire turned the TIE into a ball of flame. Mallox then turned away and rocketed off into the stars as he made the jump to hyperspace.

It was only moments later that the "Alabak's Gold punched it's own way out of Tatooine.
