Re: City on Alert

'So why were all these people out here?' Lyla had asked as they were escorted through the gate, gesturing to the crowd of civilians milling around the entrance and now being directed away. It seemed an odd choice of nightspot.

Hearing the sudden pew-pew-pew of blaster fire, Lyla cursed under her breath and ran to where she heard it coming from. Hopefully they'd found their quarry already.

"Lyla? They are scouts. Not stormtroopers. They work independantly and creatively. The blaster fire is probably a diversion." Tera frowned "Or it would be if it were me doing this."

Re: City on Alert

Rynn drew his blaster and looked at the group as the Twi'lek took off after the blaster fire. "We gonna follow her?" he said staring at the running woman. He looked around for the nearest communication box, and moved toward it. "Any user this net, this is Grey Nine." He said using the call sign for the ship he knew was buried and not in use. "Hearing blaster fire, anyone have eyes on?"

"True.  Only a fool... hrmmm... opens fire in daylight... hrmmm... inside a city.  Yes, must be to draw... hrmmm... guards away from... hrmm... somewhere close.", thought Oglo out loud.  He then asked Rynn, "You live here?  What sensitive near here?  Communications?  Hangers?  Tractor Beam?"

Re: City on Alert

Rushing toward the sound of blasters Lyla ran down the side corridor away from the tubolift they had been heading toward. Rynn followed behind in a search of the nearest com-box. The side corridor turned sharply to the left. On the corner was a com-box. The Ubese stopped to report gun fire on Ralmathen Corridor.

Further down the corridor Lyla saw two guards on the floor, dead or unconscious. Beyond the bodies, the door to a cargo lift elevator was opening; stepping into the lift was a large, brawny man, a small woman with short black hair, and a tall woman with red hair tied in a braid.

At sight of Lyla they whirl around and raise their blasters to cover a handsome young man who is hastily manipulating the turbolift controls. All four wear civilian clothes. The small woman's eyes meet Lyla's and she smiles.

OOC Lyla roll Initiative beat 11 and she can act first.

Re: City on Alert

Still running up to the lift, Lyla recognised the two women from the droid's holo-projections. Lyla smiled back.

Then she bowled Puggle's last smoke-screamer straight into the elevator.

As the canister exploded in stinging smoke and ear-splitting noise in the confined space of the lift, Lyla veered sharply left to seek cover.
Lyla dashed to cover, shouting 'We got hostiles!', hoping her companions had actually followed.

Running Attack: move closer to elevator to get in range.
Attack: Throw smoke-screamer into elevator. Ranged attack 20.

Re: City on Alert

At first it seemed they had arrived before the imperials and had some time to plan a watch out. But the blaster fires proved they were wrong.

As much as Oglo and Tera's comment were sound, Klyn decided enough people stayed here - guards and the like - to at least warn them if it was really a diversion.

He followed - with some delay - Lyla and Rynn.

Lyla's warning proved she had found them, and he quickened his pace.

"The Imps are on the lift for the star port... LOCK IT DOWN." Rynn said, moving toward the lift, and drawing his blaster. As Lynn threw the smoke at the confined lift, Rynn waited to see bodies start spilling out and onto the ground.

Re: City on Alert

On the com-box Rynn reported the location of the infiltrators. Central security sent guards to exit on the starport level and began measures to override the turbolift controls.

The young Imperial at the turbolift controls finished his work and dived into the turbolift as the doors slammed shut.

Re: City on Alert

Lyla shouted a string of foul curses as the turbolift doors slid shut, whisking the Imperials away. 'Crukking damn it! What was the point of that?' Returning her unused smoke-screamer to her pocket, she broke from cover and raced to the doors, hoping to see where the lift was going and jabbing the call button hoping she somehow bring it back.

"Does the ohters levels have the same layout?" asked Klyn
should the answer be positive, he will run toward the A lift.
"We might be able to intercept them!"

otherwise, he will run toward the second lift, hoping to reach it and have the time to stop it before they get out off it

Re: City on Alert

Racing to try and get to the turbolift before the Imperials escaped Lyla dashed out from her cover and sprinted the last twenty-five metres. It was fruitless however. The lift door was sealed shut and the control panel showed the elevator was going up.

Corporal Tessus nodded to Klyn "yes both turbolifts have exits on the starport level" he said. On the com-box the Central Security told Rynn that they were sending guards to the turbolift exit.

Knowing full well that even the fastest speed possible for the motive device he had equipped could not hope to match running, or even jogging, humanoids T3-M8 simply heads for the unoccupied turbolift.  Rolling inside and jacking in to properly manipulate the thing and perhaps turn off some of the speed or security safeties to allow the car to start as soon as everyone is on board rather than waiting for silly things like the doors shutting, or comfort driven acceleration guidelines.

08:56, Today: T3-M8 rolled 33 using 1d20+15. Use Computer.

Re: City on Alert

Everyone rushed to get to the other turbolift intent on pursuing the Imperials. The six of them crammed into the elevator. The droid T3-M8 extended an appendage and plugged into the controls. With a whir and a shwoosh the elevator doors sealed and the turbolift began its ascent.

The journey to the top took only moments but knowing they were chasing the ISC agents had everyone on edge. Hot on trails they came piling out of the turbolift and into the starport. The starport was a huge bowl-shaped opening dug out of the Neskroff mesa. The walls and the floor of the starport are made of the same crystal as the rest of the city. Numerous armed guards patrolled the starport, watching carefully for the Imperials. However, there are even more places to hide than there are guards: huge pieces of machinery, docked starship, storage areas, and lots of piles of crates.

Above looms the huge shadow of the Corellian gunship Handree, the original object of their mission which seemed to be going astray again. It hovered above the starport, attached to the planet's surface only by the glowing beams of several repulsorlifts. A maintenance crew has just finished loading cargo into the ship's forward hold and they are descending via repulsorlift beam.

Heading toward the other turbolift they arrive before it does but when it reached the starport the door slides open but it is empty!

OOC Perception checks.

Oglo didn't use his eyes as Tera did.  Rather he depended upon The Force to warn him of danger.  In this case, he expected the Imperial scouts would leave a grenade or similar such booby-trap behind in the elevator.

Lyla didn't waste much time gazing around the starport, but ran straight to the other turbolift — empty! She scrutinised the lift and the area, even looking around for tracks. Could they have gotten off at another level, or arrived well before them?

Inside the turbolift car looks similar to the one they had travelled up to the starport in. The car is empty. Rebel guards alerted by Rynn’s call on the com-box coming running over, so that a crowd begins to develop at the doorway of the elevator.

Re: City on Alert

Lyla stared at the scuff marks on the walls, the signs that the ceiling hatch had been jimmied open - and the bomb on the floor. Something wasn't right here. 'They got out through the roof! But why leave a bomb? They'll be trapped in the shaft with the shockwave... Is that thing actually active?'

OOC: Questions: Can the elevator go any higher? Is the bomb actually active? With a little blinking light or a countdown timer maybe? Can Lyla easily reach the lift controls?
