Re: Warm Reception

After a moments more wriggling and crawling the three of them came out at Engineering Deck 3. T3-M8 was able to locate a computer port and jack in without any difficulty. The droid was able to confirm the suspicion that they were in hyperspace. He was also able to pull up a full read out of the gunship. Deck One Engineering, Parts & Supplies, Armoury, Light Equipment Storage, Heavy Equipment Storage, Ship's Stores and Computer Control Deck. Deck Two Engineering, Crew Quarters & Lounge and Bridge. Deck Three Engineering, Sublight Systems  Control, Sensor & Communications Control, Science & Medical Labs, Turbolaser Power Generator, Sickbay, Weapon Systems Control, Emergency Repair Facility, Shields & Screen Systems Control, Hyperdrive Systems Control, Environmental Control and Power Distribution Control. Deck Four Engineering, Engineering Maintenance, Auxiliary Systems, Droid Storage & Maintenance, Equipment Storage, General Maintenance, Speeder Hangar & Repair Shops, Escape Pods, Security Hold/Brig and Forward Hold. Deck 5 Engineering, Storage, Belly Hold and Speeder Launch Bay.

Re: Warm Reception

Betting that imperials were still devoting a significant percentage of there attention to running the unfamiliar ship and sorting out all it's unique quirks along with any troubles caused by the hasty start up and high speed exit of the planetary system T3-M8 opts for the subtle approach.  Rather than doing anything that will trigger alarms immediately the crafty little droid focuses on the purely digital environment into which humanoids have no direct access and begins a conversation with the ship's computer, befriending it in the way only other computers are likely to be able to do.

15:30, Today: T3-M8 rolled 20,20,24 using 1d20+15,1d20+15,1d20+15. Use Computer.  As the process can take multiple rolls I figured I would throw out a few to shorten the posting delay, feel free to assess them in order one roll per round in 'Improve Access' actions.

Re: Warm Reception

Klyn took some time to get the plan of the ship well in head. Now that they were in the hyperspace, the others either had managed to protect themselves, or they were dead.
It came as a relief to hear from them.

Klyn quickly checked where the had entered the ship.

"Good to know. We were afraid we lost you.  We had some time to do a little digging, ship's plan and other data.  T3 is currently courting the ship's computer.

There is my suggestion:I think we should approach things by two angles. We are already on deck 3 where the communication control are. You are Deck 5. The hyperdrive controls are on deck 4. You should try to make your way there.  I suppose Rynn has some skills with those, as a pilot.

We will go and destroy their communication center, in case we can't stop them soon enough.
What do you think?"

He finished, both for 'his' team and the others.

Re: Warm Reception

The Handree's computer has no reason to challenge T3-M8 or feel any threatened from the droid so chats freely with the one eyed droid.

OOC You can treat the Engineering Computer as Helpful.

Re: Warm Reception

With the computer's alliance secured T3-M8 goes about battening down some of it's digital hatches.  Disabling all the software required for a humanoid to communicate with the computer, input and output devices other than the direct digital interface, effectively barring access to the computer from any organic creature unable to directly link minds with the machine world.

Once the computer is locked down T3-M8 initiates a full diagnostic of all the ship's systems, which will require any system without a local backup operation status, like life support, to be shut down for the duration of the digital inspection.

As the DC for disabling software on a helpful computer is lower than the net bonus of skill and the computer's own bonus I figure rolling is pointless as even 1s pass the roll, but if there is something else blocking any particular effort feel free to roll or let me know.

Re: Warm Reception

Lyla responded 'Yeah, disabling communications is good. That'll stop them getting a message out. And if we run into an Imperial ship, maybe they'll attack us instead. That should keep the ISC off the main space routes and away from Imperial bases, slow them down a little.'

'If you can cut the engines too, that'd also help.'

'And yeah, taking the controls is good. We should find at least one of them there.'

'There's four of them: Pilia Tonth, captain; Ishale Meahonon, astronavigator; and two gunners, Rengor Talke and Sona Lerenga. You've seen the descriptions. They'll probably hang by the bridge. The engineer and pilot died on the Wanderer, so we've got that over them. But be careful. We're starting to suspect there's some kind of commando on the team, or else a traitor among the Rebels. They've been very clever and well equipped so far.'

'Lyla out.'

Re: Warm Reception

It was the work of only moment as the droid and Engineering computer talked. By the end of the quick conversation access to the friendly Engineering computer by anyone bar T3-M8 was off limits and then the computer shut down as commanded. The computer console went blank and the Engineering computer was effectively out of operation. With the console shut down T3-M8 had no access to any of the ship's other systems. To run a diagnostic he'd need to go physically to see the systems he wanted to check or access a different console. The Sublight Systems Control was the next nearest section of the gunship and would have it's own computer and access.

Re: Warm Reception

Noticing T3's work Klyn commented a bit dryly
"Well, you could have been a bit less restrictive you know? We don't want all of the system down : we are going to need to bring the ship back and who knows what could happen...

Anyways, let's go and find the communication center. Let me open the way"

With this, he began to walk toward their destination, based on the ship's plan he had seen.

Re: Warm Reception

The only thing between them and the Sensor and Communications Control was the Sublight Systems Control. Corridors cross the length and width of the starship. Klyn tread carefully as he sneaked along the corridor. Apart from the hum of the engine to their rear they was no sounds of crew, passengers or the Imperial scouts. The Sensor and Communications Control is easily found. The Control room has all manner of computers and displays.

After politely disconnecting from the engineering computer, with a  promise to return, T3-M8 rolls along after Klyn in the direction of the communications system.  Veering off to the sublight control system well before they arrive at the communications system T3 plugs in there to repeat the earlier process of discussion and arrangement of future plans with the next computer on his list.

Splitting up T3-M8 went and shut down the controls at the Sublight Systems Control. While Klyn went to the Sensor & Communications Control. Klyn shut down the controls and easily as T3-M8. By about the same time they both had jobs done.

"Armory in on Deck 1, Far above you and us both.  We just disabled communications and put the brake on the sublight engines.  We are now moving to make them jump out of hyperspace... This might take a bit longer to do it safely, though."

He then ask T3 if he can send them the map.

Once it is done, they move forward to the hyper drive system. They will first make a stop to the medical bay, just in case a member of the other team was wounded and treated there.

"Oglo, T3, if you have some suggestions, they are welcome."

Re: Warm Reception

Both Klyn and T3-M8 completed their task and returned to the ship's corridor. Going around the Science Labs they found the Sickbay empty much like the rest of the starship. Walking the full length of the ship took them about three minutes in total. Then they reached the Hyperdrive Systems Control. Examining the Hyperdrive only brought bad news. Someone on the Bridge had trashed the Nav Computer so the Hyperdrive could no longer be affected by it. The only way to stop the Handree would be to switch off the engine. A 'Stop Dead' manoeuvre would risk total destruction of the ship and all its passengers as they became a cloud of fine powder floating through space. T3-M8 calculates the probability of destruction at 83% for such a proposel action. With damage to the Nav Computer their destination was unknown but perhaps on the Bridge it might be possible to retrieve the information.

Re: Warm Reception

T3-M8 pipes the map through the com system once the talking is over to ensure the static such a wide bandwidth of digital information inevitably causes will not bother the organics using the thing.  With that task complete he heads off to the emergency repair station to do one last bit of digital sabatage to ensure that there is almost no way to fix the ship quickly enough to allow the imperials the ability to do anything even close to completing their mission.

Klyn grunted as they reached the hyperdrive section.

"Damned, I knew it was too easy.  Good thing we managed to scramble their communication.  Well, T3, unless you brought some kind of miracle, I'm afraid we will have to go to the bridge..."

Getting his com unit he announced the bad news

"Guys, we have some bad news: they sabotaged the hyperdrive nav system before we reached it.  No chance of getting it working from here.  T3 told me the computer are all responding to the main unit on the bridge, so that's our new destination. Try to get there as quickly as possible. I'm afraid we might encounter some resistance."

Re: Warm Reception

Not really particularity interested in the humanoid's interface tools T3-M8 simply plugs directly into the Hyperdrive engine itself, bypassing the damaged Nav Computer with his own astrogation protocols.  Running through the quick version of a safe shutdown procedure with the same sort of habitual ease that a soldier would render weapons inoperable T3-M8 executes his original design purpose as a backup astrogation computer with only a brief glare at the broken Nav Comp for the disrespect it forces on him by being broken, although through no fault of it's own.

23:37, Today: T3-M8 rolled 34,22,32 using 1d20+15,1d20+15,1d20+15. Use Computer. Improve Access twice, and Astrogate.

Re: Warm Reception

Directly interfaced with the Hyperdrive T3-M8 bypasses the Nav Computer. The Hyperdrive informs the droid that the jump will end in 11 hours and 39 minutes. Even with T3-M8 as a standby the damage done to Handree will prevent any further astronavigation or hyperjumps without repairs. A well equipped repair facility or a week in the Handree’s machine shop would be needed. The Hyperdrive disconnected from the Nav Computer can not tell T3-M8 their destination.

Re: Warm Reception

Well aware of the risk to at least the rebellion's efforts in the area, if not the entire goal, T3-M8 does not hesitate for a moment longer than it takes to put in what safeguards he can manage to shut down the Hyperdrive in as close to a normal manner as possible, only then does the little droid disconnect from the now relatively useless and mostly burned out drive system to accompany Klyn through the ship to the bridge.

Re: Warm Reception

On their way through the gunship from aft to fore T3-M8 systematically shut down as many systems and computers as he could. The Handree would when it came out of Hyperspace it be out of control and floating wildly in space.

Access to the Bridge from the Hyperdrive was from a ramp at the fore of the ship. Klyn and T3-M8 made their way up onto the Bridge. Stars out of the view port are solid streaks of light; the gunship was racing through hyperspace. A red-haired Imperial scout is crouched by the nav computer, a clump of wires in her hands. The woman looks up to see Klyn and T3-M8 but ignores them, continuing her work.
