Re: Locked In

Provided with new orders by Nessquik the droids all trundled off to do their duty. Their capacity for engineering would be up to the tasks the Quarren gave them but their behavioural Inhibitors might prevent them completing all he asked as anything which could harm or allow harm to come to any sentient living being would override any other programs.

Exploring Lyla circled around some of the other areas on Deck 4. The Twi'lek did not find anything amiss, any more crews members or the Imperials in General Maintenance, Equipment Storage or the Brig.

Re: Locked In

Rynn stayed with the Quarren, not fully trusting him yet. "If it wasn't clear before... I'm the Rynn supposed to be guarding you." He said, still holding his blaster in case there was any danger. "If the controls have been sabotaged we can always radio back and wait for help to arrive to fix everything."

He watched the Quarren and droids work for a bit before making small talk. "So why'd you join the rebels?"

Re: Locked In

Another message is sent from Klyn

"Guys, things aren't good here... The damage is quite severe. We don't know where we fill end up, but we have less than 12 hours before our little trip ends. And there is no way for us to safely stop the hyperdrive either.  Doing it 'brutally' has more chances of getting us killed than just lost in space.

Repairs would take much longer than 12 hours, even with the correct Spare parts.

I'm worried about what we could find once we get out of hyperspace so we better get the ship under control and make sure we have sublight movement, shields and weapons.

It's too bad we are so few, such a ship needs a bigger crew...

Do you have some suggestions?  I could leave T3 to begins repairs, or maybe get our destination from what remains of the nav computer, and try to find the others imperials?

I'm not looking forward making repairs with the constant threat of being attacked...

How are things on your side?"

Re: Locked In

Lyla continued her recon of Deck, taking a peak in the Forward Hold, before circling back by another way to the Droid Workshop. On the way, she heard Klyn's message and responded 'We found one of the crew, a supply officer, a Quarren named Ness. He and Tera are messing about with the ship's droids, going to get them to help us make repairs and get control... Uh, they can explain it better. I'm doing some recon.'

'How are external communications? Can you disable them? If the ISC are taking us somewhere, we don't want them talking to anyone there. They might call up a star destroyer or something.'

Lyla started moving aft along Deck 4, moving past Auxiliary Systems and Engineering Maintenance, and ending at Engineering itself. She was much more careful in snooping about there, figuring it was somewhere the ISC might be working.

"Well, to put it simply, nothing works. We disabled communications and sublight engines -which probably wasn't such a good idea with the current damage. so once we leave the hyperspace, we will be like an huge immobile and silent target."

Answered Klyn.

"Bye the way, where are you exactly?  It appears someone else let a door open: there is something wrong with the forward hold. Do you think they had another ship?"

"Just what I said earlier: Medical Supplies.  My guess is they want to deny us access to healing, or to chemical components that can be used to make explosives.  Not that I know how.  I'm no chemist.", answers Nessquik to Tera's question.

Then he answered Rynn's question in a cagey manner, "Dad got in trouble with the Empire.  His old employer set us off on Mon Cala.  Other Quarren hated us because my great-granddad left there.  The Mon Calamari offered to help by shipping us off to Neskroff.  My dad didn't like it.  He resents the Rebellion and the Mon Calamari for the destruction caused to the Mon Calamari cities.  But what choice did he have?  They were the only ones offering help.  Me?  I'm grateful.  It's no worse home than the one I knew previously.  Well, less water available so it is worse.  Anyhow, there's a lot less jobs.  Rebellion were the only people hiring."

Re: Locked In

'Yeah, I was just there. Doors wouldn't open. Guess that's why.' Lyla responded, relieved the doors had remained firmly closed so she didn't get blown out into space. She'd already had enough of a close-call with that. 'Do you know if we lost anything?' she added after a moment's thought. This ship was meant to be carrying the vital medical supplies for Polmanar. If they'd been flushed out into hyperspace, their whole mission would have been a bust.

She kept moving aft.

Re: Locked In

"Not completely silent.", replies the Quarren to the male voice he hears emitting from Tera's comlink.  "We still have Escape Pods.  Those have emergency beacons.  If we connect an emergency transmitter by wire to the ship's main transmitter array, then we'd greatly boost the range of the transmission.  We'd just be limited to the kind of message we can send.  Under the circumstances though, the emergency distress message will do nicely."

Ness strokes his tentacles as he pauses in his task of re-programming the droids to shut down the reactor fuel valves, and not think about the consequences that would have.  He continues to think about why they would depressurize the main cargo hold.  He recalls that the cargo was all tied down.  Some of it may have broken loose when the hold depressurized, but it all wouldn't get sucked into space.  Maybe they suspected that someone like him would still be in the cargo hold so they were trying to space him.  And then it occurs to him as he thinks about the ship's deck plan.  "The Main Hold is two decks right below the Bridge.  By cutting through the ceiling of the hold you come up into Navigation.  And from there there's access up to the Bridge.  They have to be holding out on the Bridge!  Why else block off one way onto the Bridge?", he further answers Lyla's question.

Klyn did not answer Lyla's question immediately as he checked a few things.

"I will take a look, also try to see if there is any surveillance device on the ship.
It would be nice to find the remaining imperials.

T3 is busy working on the Bridge computer, but unless we can safely get access to the various engineering places - and walk around without risking being killed - there isn't much we can do..."

Klyn's intervened for another report

"Hello there.  Still no news from the remaining imperials?  I tried to find security footage but there is nothing.  I also have no idea about the status of the Forward hold.

I might be able to close it if I manage to get inside... But it's probably not our first priority.

I think I have found a way to get control of the sublight engines back, but it will require long hours of work.

Can you explain what exactly you had planned with the droids?"

"I'd figured the Imperials would have locked themselves in the bridge. I hoped the robots as they're part of the ship would be able to open doors and get access to perform repairs. We can use them now I guess to repair the controls in the bridge and give us some semblance of order." Tera said.

Re: Locked In

Upon hearing from the Comlink with Lyla that she has completed her sweep of Deck Four and is on her way back, he thinks to pipes up and tells her something.  But the Comlink cuts out before he can speak up.  It's okay though because he won't have long to wait for her to come back.  Once she is back, he tells her, "I need a sweep of the Deck Five Engineering Section, and I need Deck Two checked out as well.  I don't want to send these droids off on their tasks and have them run into the Imperials.  Every droid must safely reach its destination or else my plan won't work.  If these Imperials are every bit as clever as you make them out to be, they won't think nothing of a droid trundling around on Deck Five or Deck Two near the engine access tunnels."

On hearing Klyn ask about what the plan is over the comlink, Ness says to him, "This better be a secure comlink.  One thing they taught me in Officer Training is never explain a plan over an unsecured com channel.  You are the mechanic, yes?  Then you should be able to figure it out.  Is it going to be safe?  No.  But I am counting on the Imperials not wanting to die so they'll do everything they can from the Bridge to keep that from happening.  But then they will have to come out to deal with the droids so they can get back underway."

A small silence followed NEssquick explanation
"I suppose your are the Quarren.  Nice to meet you but ...hum... small trouble with your plan: T3 and I ARE on the bridge.  There was only one imperial present - doing her very best to destroy the computers - and we took care of her.

But until we are done with the most basic repairs, there isn't much that can be done from here... by us or the imperials, should they come back."

Tera turned to the Quarren, making sure her commlink was not broadcasting.. "Ok, so the Imperials have no one else on the bridge. I'll go with Lyla and check out Deck Five, while you try to get the droids online. Don't send them up to the bridge until there's an escort to help them up there to repair the damage. Do you have a weapon?"

Re: Locked In

Returning to the droid workshop, Lyla responded with her thoughts on the situation, patching into the comlink conference call. 'Don't forget, we have that vacuum mask if we need to get through anywhere they've spaced. It'll save us holding our breath.' she suggested, a little flippantly to avoid the thought that they might well have had to.

'We still have three armed and dangerous commandos running around, and they've had time to get to know and prepare the environment. I don't like us being spread all over the ship, in ones and twos and easy picking, trying to make repairs as they're breaking stuff. It seems like a futile task.'

'We've still got 12 standard hours, or less. I'd rather we focus on taking down the rest of the ISC first, then on fixing up their mess. It's safer for us all.'
the scout said, ever pragmatic and focused when it came to matters of survival. She might not be a soldier, but she was even less of an engineer or techie, so she wanted to deal with the enemy directly. She had a scout's approach: exploring the environment and eliminating dangers within it before getting to work.

Re: Locked In

The Quarren's eyes go wide at the news that Klyn is on the Bridge and not in Engineering as he had presumed.  "Schizsticks!  Those are the panels they destroyed?  Focus your efforts on fixing the Hyperdrive controls, and only to the point that you can safely bring us out of Hyperspace, or we're all dead!", he says out loud so that the open comlink will pick up his voice.

"Okay, so change of plans.  No need to shut down Auxillary Power if we have control of the Bridge, or if the Power Distribution panel has been destroyed.  All our droids can be used to try to shut down the Main Reactor.  But we better be prepared for droid losses because I think they're going to be defending the Engineering section.  It's the only other place on the ship where you can have control.  Seems like a dumb place to hold out though because there's access to it on practically every deck."

Re: Locked In

Klyn quickly answered again:
"Well, not gonna happen.  Either we get to our destination or we try do shut it down with a VERY high risk of blowing to pieces.  There is no way we can get control over the hyperdrive in less than 11h.

Especially with three imperials doing their best to hinder us.

I plan to get control of the sub-light engines but I'm not very keen on starting to work and walk around for spare parts under the constant threat of being shot dead."

Re: Locked In

'I just got in Deck 4 Engineering, no problems, no one was there.' Lyla said to Nessquik when he said the ISC might try to hold it. 'Unless they were on another level.'

She listened with a sense of relief as the others decided to meet up on the Bridge, getting the gang back together and having safety in numbers. 'Okay, Bridge it is. We'll make it our base, take control, secure the droids there, and get to work. And maybe we can talk to Meahonon, see if she wants to tell us anything.' Lyla hoped the ISC scout was going to be sensible and cooperate, she had no stomach or desire for interrogation or torture.

Lyla checked her map, finding a safe, quick route through the ship past places they might want to visit. Once a scout... Fortunately, the droid workshop had two turbolifts inside, which they ought to be able to get the droids in. 'Rynn, how about you and I take the lead, while Tera and Ness follow with the droids? ...If we go up to Deck 3, Sickbay and the Medical Lab are right next door, and Tera can grab anything she needs... Then we can advance forward, clear some rooms, go through Hyperdrive and Power Distribution Control, work there if you want, then go up to the Bridge. Sound good?' She looked around the group to see what they thought. ...Always a tour guide.
