Re: Locked In

Tera growled at the keypad as she stepped back from it. "Looks like we're stuck here for the time being." she sat on the ground watching Lyla search the bodies "Yes, you know. What did the bad guys take with them. Might be how we find them in the end."

'I don't exactly know what's supposed to be in a Alliance guard's pockets.' Lyla returned testily

OOC: You can make it untrained.
08:47, Today: Lyla Rahn rolled 6 using 1d20+4. untrained technology.
Though, uh, not like that. :)

Tera moved back to the lock, trying to figure out a way past it. "I don't know, blasters, identity card, keys, power supplies, handcuffs, first aid kits."

19:52, Today: Tera Inkari rolled 21 using 1d20+5. Know:Tech. my + is only 4 not 5 so it's a 20.

Rynn closes up his bracer, not knowing how to get through the door, but seeing that Tera has it under control feels a little bit better. "This day has DEFINITELY not gone as planned." he said sighing. "I had a date after my shift at the cantina." He looked at his chrono. "Yep not gonna make it... if you can't crack it lets blast it down."

Re: Locked In

The small entrance bay served as an airlock so Lyla's saw no alternative way out except the door out of the ship or the door in. The weapons and passkey had been taken from the dead Rebel guards.

Re: Locked In

Tera huffed as she played with the locking mechanism. "Ok, I've got an idea of how this works. They've jammed this system and recoded it. I have to figure out what code they used. Anyone remember what the ident code of their ship was? We're looking for 5 digits between 1 and 5 each, each digit only used once."

Tera tried a few random combinations of numbers trying to puzzle it out.

Re: Locked In

Lyla looked up from the bodies. 'Well, they don't have weapons or passkeys.'

She looked incredulous as Tera started tapping out numbers. 'There's got to be thousands of numbers. And what if it locks you out?'

She activated her comlink and tried to contact Klyn, T3-M8, or even Oglo. 'Hey, anyone reading me? We're trapped in some kind of airlock, the door lock's jammed. Little help?'

Re: Locked In

"Acutally, 5 digits of 1-5 with each digit used only once is only 120 combonations. 5*4*3*2*1=120... so that should only take around 2-3 minutes to try them all." Rynn said doing the math in his head. "It shouldn't take too long to try them all out." He said watching the woman trying them all. "Hey ask him if the ship is leaving atmo... if it does and they pop that air lock we will all be all stiff and frozen." He glanced back at Tera. "No preasure."

"I'm working as reasonably as I can. I suspect they're likely to know we're here, so the threat of them popping the outer door is a real one...unless one of you two goes and makes it so they can't?" Tera said as she continued through the combinations.

Re: Locked In

'Five digits, non-repeating? Well, someone needs a lesson in password security.' Lyla commented dryly. Finally they'd had a stroke of luck, or rather, a dash of less bad luck. They were still trapped in an airlock in a ship leaving atmosphere.

Then she got a response from Oglo, though not much of one. 'Oglo! Where are you? We're on the hijacked ship. And no, we can't wait for maintenance! Did you see where Klyn and the droid went?'

Lyla pulled out of her pack the vacuum mask she'd looted from the downed scout-ship. 'Glad they left this behind.' she muttered. It was a small emergency measure, but wouldn't give complete protection against vacuum. There was only one. Someone would get to live ten minutes longer than their friends. 'Tera, put this on.' she ordered, tossing it to the doctor.

She went over to the outer door, the hatch they'd just climbed through, and grabbed hold of the liquid cable, wrapping it around her forearm. If the grapple held, she wouldn't get sucked out of the ship in a hurry. 'Any ideas, Rynn?'

Also answering his comlink Klyn spoke with his voice down
"We managed to get into the engine part.  We will try to prevent them from running. I will ask T3 to see if he could help you with the door"

There is a bit of silence and static before he added:

"Can you give us some data on where is that door? floor level, numbers on or above the door?"

Tera looked at the mask quizzically "I think you'd better put the mask on yourself. We're going to need someone strong to pull us through when I open the door." Tera closed her eyes for a second before reopening them and retrying all of the possible combinations as quickly as she could.

Rynn snapped his fingers and tug in this utility belt, pulling out two items, the laser wielder and the power prybar. He tossed the wielder and goggles to Lyla. "Don't let that hatch open." he said then got to work on prying open the door.

Re: Locked In

The dead guards were in Rebel uniform, blast helmet and vest. Little else was on their bodies. Quick to try and open the door Tera immediately had a go at breaking the code. To try any combination however meant reprogramming the door control, not a simple matter of typing in the numbers. It took Tera three minutes to make her first attempt of 1 2 3 4 5. The lock did not open first go.

Tera groaned at the door in frustration. "T3 did the Imperial vessel have any reference in the databanks to a 5 digit number, 1 through 5, each number can only be used once." Tera tried the next combination in line.

Re: Locked In

'Thanks, Klyn. We're at the bottom floor of the ship, some kind of airlock where the turbolift went in,' She read off any identifying information she found on the airlock hatch. 'Hope that helps.'

She looked back to Tera and the vacuum mask. 'I ain't strong. But we're going to need someone to keep tapping that panel and fix us up afterward more. Put it on.' she repeated.

She pulled Rynn's welding goggles over her head and tails, adjusting them over her eyes, then took up the laser welder. Now, how do I work this thing... She hit the on switch and a burning laser lanced across the room and scored the metal wall. 'Frack!' Trying again, Lyla directed the welding laser around the edges of the hatch, trying to fuse them together. It was a tricky task to hang from the grappler cable with one hand and use the welder with the other, but she steadily got the hang of it.

Re: Locked In

"No, this is an Imperial system that's kind of bolted on to the existing door lock. For them even to have this kind of gear suggests they're not really Scouts." Tera replied. She sighed at Lyla's comment. "If they really want to kill us, I could try maybe one more combination before we all lose consciousness from lack of oxygen. Is that worth it? With 119 left to try?"

Re: Locked In

'Yes.' Lyla answered flatly. It was a cold and simple mathematics, well known to the harsh world of Ryloth. It was the process of choosing who would live and who would go without, balanced for the best outcome. Lyla knew it well. Mum had thrown her into the freezer, leaving herself to die in the heat-storm. Lyla had faced her own doom in battling the Gutretree. She grew angry at Tera's protests; did she really have to argue for her own death? She kept working at welding the hatch shut, answering over the comlink. 'You're the healer, so you get to live a little longer. If you survive, you can heal us after. If not, you heal other people. That's how it works. Please.' The last word was pleading Tera to just do it and stop making Lyla think about this.

Re: Locked In

Tera glanced at Lyla ready to start an argument, but she could tell that Lyla was being serious. She had no idea why Lyla was being so insistent. She didn't feel as though the reasons were anywhere near as valid as Lyla, but she slipped the breather mask around her neck so she could put it on in a fractions of a second if she needed to. "Ok." she said softly as she continued her work on the door.

Re: Locked In

Ineptly Lyla tried to seal the airlock door to stop them from all being thrown out into space once the Corellian gunship was out of atmosphere. Her work was poorly done and probably doing more damage than good. Meanwhile Tera continued to try and break the code on the Imperial lock.

Tera's shoulders slumped. "Strike that, there are six possible slots, each using 1 through 6. That's....way too many to be working with." Tera sounded depressed. "T3, can you revise the search parameters for anything to do with the Imperial vessel or personnel with the numbers 1 through 6 each number used once." Tera glanced at the others trying not to let the worry show as she started back on the locking mechanism.

Re: Locked In

'Damn it.' Lyla swore as her welding laser just seemed to melt through something that was probably important and keeping them alive. The heat and stress was getting to her, and she no idea what she could do to get out of this. Tera's news didn't help. She gave up, switched off the beam, and slid the goggles up onto her head. 'This is getting nowhere. Rynn, you got a fusion cutter in there? Can you try cutting through the lock or the door?'

OOC: Did Lyla see any special numbers while search the Wanderer? I can't see anything skimming the thread. Wisdom check? 9.
