Re: Final Gambit

As they walked toward the Handree, Klyn couldn't shake the feeling Lyla was incredibly visible.

"Yes" he answered her comment as they got in safely.
"I suppose they can't even imagine we would voluntarily go inside their ship.  I can barely believe it myself." he added as he began the routine checks on the ship.

"Standing watch might be a good idea. I'm going to see if I can make a 'plan C' for the tractor beam if the others can't succeed"

Re: Final Gambit

Tera started the process of removing the coordinates from the navcomputer from the docking bay computers. She'd look into the feasibility of lodging a tech support request that would take hours to complete for the tractor system once the coordinates were gone...then they'd need to cause the star destroyer to come out of hyperspace.

Re: Final Gambit

Aboard the Rebel ship Klyn considered their next move. Tera stayed in the hangar and logged into the Desolator's computer system and tried to invade the Nav Computer to delete the Isis Coordinates.

OOC Tera make a Use Computer check to delete the Isis Coordinates from the Nav Computer.

Klyn's plan to disable the tractor beam if they got caught in one would work. This would have to be a last resort though as if they Desolator was trying to pull them in the Bridge would know that there were Rebels on board.

Also to note the Desolator has not yet jumped to hyperspace. If it does you'll be stuck inside it just as you were in the Handree.

"So..." Rynn said, making small talk as Terra did her work. "If this doesn't work, whats the plan? Every man for himself? Or one goes down we all go down?" He asked through his body suit modulator. "I mean it will be better for you and Klynn, Lyla and I? Well they don't like us aliens types."

Handree:

'I still don't believe it,' Lyla muttered in response, 'But we had no other option for escape. Sooner or later, they're going to work it out when someone wonders what happened to me after that shuttle ride.' She peered anxiously out the windows and at exterior cameras to see if she could catch any sight of a squad of Stormtroopers bearing down on them. There were none, yet.

She looked disappointedly at her scavenged blaster pistol. If it came to a shoot-out, she wanted something with a bit more range and stopping power. 'Hey, Klyn, I'm going to loot the armoury and arm up. You want anything? If we're lucky, maybe they left all our old gear on board too.'

Re: Final Gambit

After their earlier ransacking of the armoury of all the heavy weapons Lyla was left to choose from the blaster rifles and blaster pistols for shooting. Suits of Rebel Marine armour stood against the wall as they had been before.

At the computer Tera removed the Isis Coordinates. As she did so the computer warned her that the next hyperjump would have to be cancelled as the nav computer now had no destination coordinates. If she didn't do something quick alarms would sound across the Bridge and the Imperials would be aware of their interference.

OOC Tera make another Use Computer check to try and prevent the computer warning the Bridge.

Re: Final Gambit

There was only one set of coordinates Tera could relay off the top of her head. Tattoine. She quickly replaced the hyperspace coordinates with those of Tattoine as the jump destination, hoping that would satisfy the bridge computers and abort the alarms.

07:17, Today: Tera Inkari rolled 24 using 1d20+10. Use computer.
If the DC is higher I'll bump a force point into it.

Re: Final Gambit

Lyla grabbed a generic blaster rifle from the rack, but already missed her old ex-Clone Trooper-issue DC-15a blaster rifle. Old, battered, reliable, a girl's best friend, and a warm companion on a cold lonely night in the wilds – damn it, she wanted her gun back. The Stormtroopers had removed their weapons and stuff while here on the Handree. Maybe they'd dumped it all on board too, keeping the evidence together.

She grabbed a few more blaster rifles, one for member of the team, and fitted them all with charged power packs. She hunted around for grenades and other items, then hauled her load back to Klyn so he could defend himself if it came to it. 'Hey, Klyn! Gotcha something.' she called, passing the weapon over.

OOC: Last time, we got grenades from the Armoury. Are there still grenades?

Re: Final Gambit

Quick action and Tera was able to avert disaster as the computer was prepared to alert the Bridge of her sabotage. After deleting the Isis Coordinates she input the coordinates for a jump to Tatooine. It was unlikely at this stage that the officers on the Bridge would notice any changes until they came out of hyperspace in the wrong place! The Rebels just needed to get off the Star Destroyer before then or they would be in trouble.

At the armoury Lyla took all that she could carry and returned to Klyn her arms full of blaster rifles, power pack and frag grenades. If they were to be trapped they would go down in fighting.

Re: Final Gambit

Tera took a look at the Engineering support queue, wondering how easy it might be to submit a priority ticket under the admirals or his aides name for the tractor beams to be taken offline for maintenance as he wanted them to be fully operational when they arrived at the secret rebel base to capture rebels for questioning.

Re: Final Gambit

The Handree is held in place by the bay's guidance tractor beams. The main tractor beam which drew the captured starship into the Star Destroyer was automatically disengaged when the starship docked. The smaller tractor beams are necessary to keep the Handree in position in the bay. Being a large starship the Handree is held fast by an entire bank of guidance beams. Turning the tractor beams off will not be problem but doing also will alert the Bridge and will leave the Handree untethered in the hangar so the Rebels would need to make a quick exit or it would crash into the floor.

Re: Final Gambit

Tera breathed a sigh of relief as the nav computer accepted the replacement coordinates and did not set off any alarms. She ran back to the Handree "We've switched out the nav coordinates. We're good there. The tractor beams are localised to the bay. We can blow those out, but it will set off alarms at the bridge.....so unless we make a really quick getaway, we'll be in trouble. How good a shape is the Handree? Can it make it to hyperspace? Can we hook up T3 to it to help us navigate?"

"So, we need to disable the main tractor beam first, then the one's holding us in place, but we need to engage the engines at the same time or the ship will plummet to the floor." Rynn said, running a hand over the smooth scalp of his body suit. "Glad it's not a complicated problem..." Rynn said dryly. "Can you put the main one down for maintinance like you'd mentioned? I can be a the controls ready to pilot us out of here."

Re: Final Gambit

Lyla made sure that Klyn was well armed and safe before announcing 'Okay, I'm gonna patrol the ship, make sure that there's no Imperials hanging about on board and they haven't left any surprises for us.' After organising a comlink to communicate with him, she armed with up the new blaster rifle and a brace of frag grenades, then set off again. Patrolling the Handree, Lyla would inspect key locations like engineering, the brig, the droid workshop, and the cargo hold with the medical supplies. She really hoped she wouldn't find anyone on board.

OOC: Patrolling the Handree, Perception 9, reroll to, ah, 9. Double 1s, damn it.

Re: Final Gambit

After doing a last round of the bottom deck, Lyla commed back to Klyn. 'All clear. No sign of Imps anywhere. No stowaways.' Well, that was one good thing. They had the ship, they had the supplies. Now, to see if Tera and Rynn could delete the coordinates and open the gates for them to escape. Then, tails crossed the Imperials wouldn't follow them to Isis. 'I'm gonna keep a watch from the boarding ramp and airlocks. Call me if you need anything. Out.'

The scout made her way to the boarding ramp, where she would find a spot to conceal herself and guard the ship, so they had no surprises.

"We will be ready to go, just let me know when the tractor beams are down." Rynn said, making his way to the bridge. He put the ship through it's start up routine, getting prepared to go without engaging the engines, or anything that would alert anyone outside the ship.

Re: Final Gambit

Busy all the Rebels gathered together in the Handree Klyn and Rynn get the engines warmed up. The tension mounts as Tera struggles to unlock the guidance tractor beams, without them deactivated their plan to escape would be nigh impossible. It won't be long and the Desolator will be entering hyperspace then all their struggles will be nothing. Quick thinking Klyn begins their plan B, to blow up the tractor beam generators. Filling an escape pod with explosives he rushes back to the control console to wait with the others.

Lyla was waiting at the Handree's airlock with a Rebel blaster rifle set on autofire trained on the doors, intending to cover their escape with a barrage of blaster bolts. Because, sure as eggs, there would be Stormtroopers bursting in when they did. They could cause some serious trouble in those last moments.

'Let's blow this joint!' she urged the team over the comlink.

OOC: Lyla will cover our escape from the airlock, closing it before we expose the hangar to vacuum.

Re: Final Gambit

From the airlock Lyla sees the hangar bay door open. Eight stormtroopers and one technician. She sees the technician notice that the bay's guidance beams are now and the Handree's engines on. The technician points this out to the stormtroopers who then head for the control tower.

OOC All Lyla could find in the armoury was a blaster rifle not a repeating. Lyla removed the repeating rifle from the armoury earlier and she never put it back.

'They're coming!' Lyla shouted back down the line as she saw the Stormtroopers pile in. She fired a storm of shots in their path, trying to force them to scatter and go for cover than go for the control tower. At least, that's what she told herself. She was far from mowing them all down.

OOC: Sorry, I assumed the armory would be full of weapons (not unreasonably...). The repeating blaster rifle would be confiscated when I was captured, I think. So, I'll set the regular blaster rifle to autofire.

Autofire attack on the lead Stormtroopers going for the tower.
Autofire -5. Attack: 2. Yeah, I should have expected that.
Damage 11, halved to 5
19:07, Today: Lyla Rahn rolled 2 using 1d20. blaster rifle, autofire -5.
19:07, Today: Lyla Rahn rolled 11 using 3d8+2. damage.

I don't know the range. If under 30 squares, then Point Blank Shot applies: attack 3 and damage 12, halved to 6.
