Return to Neskroff

The A-A5 speedertruck had plenty of space for the two Jedi but piloting it had them sticking close together as they made their journey to the crystal mesa. The crystals of the planet interfered with all communications so the two would be out of communications range of the Alabak's Gold and the Rebel base. Although it had its drawbacks it did mean that Bron and Tera could discuss anything without any chance of eavesdroppers or interruption.

Return to Neskroff

Tera was curious and wanted to ask questions, but Bron was an unknown with some very odd ideas and ways of doing things. "So...about that conversation you wanted to have. Now would be a good time for that, don't you think?"

Bron looks at Tera, nods and says "You are strong in the force Tera, there is no denying this. I do not believe it was mere happenstance that we meet. I believe it was the will of the force. I believe that I have something for you"

Reaching into his robes he pulls out a metallic tube just under quarter of a meter long. Handing it to Tera Bron says "Tera, I believe this is yours. While here on Isis, I felt the need to create an additional saber. I have no use for a second one, so it must be fore you."

Tera snickered "The Force huh....you some kind of priest?" Tera looked at the tube wondering what it was. He said sabre which implied some form of weapon. "What exactly are you trying to tell me precisely?"

Return to Neskroff

Pulling his own off his belt, he hits a switch and a purple beam of energy approximately a meter long emits from the end. Waving it around a bit, Bron says "The force, it flows through everything, binds all things, and gives power to those who know how to harness it."

Bron shuts off his saber as he finishes speaking. Holding it on his lap he looks at Tera.

Return to Neskroff

Tera looked mildly embarrassed "Look...I know I feel the connections between people. I feel the links and I think I might have exploited it once or twice.... but you're telling me there's some kind of philosophy associated with this?" Tera looked worried at Bron "Isn't the Force illegal? And not just, you're bad, but more, we're going to scour the galaxy and eradicate you type illegal."

Bron nods as Tera talks following along closely before saying "Yes... the Jedi are all but extinct, hunted into oblivion by the Empire and the Sith. I know this is a scary thought, but with the rebellion taking leaps and bounds, it allows more freedom for you and me. We are still hunted, but we will be hunted with or without accepting our destiny."

Bron looks Tera directly in the eyes and says "I have hidden myself away my entire life, my master took me when he helped me escape during the uprising of the Empire. This is all I have known, but I believe that this is the path, we must not allow the Empire or the Sith to win. I cannot force you to take up the mantle of the Jedi, but know it is yours, that saber is yours."

Bron looks off in the distance over Tera's shoulder after he finishes talking. Thinking to himself Please Master, guide me.

Return to Neskroff

Tera spoke softly "You know I've been part of the Empire. I was a life scientist for the Imperial Navy. There are many who work for the Empire who don't really see what it does. They can think they're being the heroes and saviours....when they're not." Tera paused for a moment "And you think I'm a Jedi? based on the 'Force' telling you I am. I don't know anything about jedi. How do I know you aren't another Empire that says it wishes to do good, but secretly behind closed doors oppresses others?"

Return to Neskroff

Bron nods pulling out two stone crystals from his pocket. Putting one in each hand he reveals them to Tera, one dark and one light. "There are two sides to everything Tera. Light and dark, good and bad, the key is finding balance. One cannot exist without the other, just as the sun shines it creates shadows. I feel the good in you, the peace."

Looking at Tera, Bron repeats a mantra taught to him a long time ago by his Master.

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

Finishing up, he hesitates a moment before saying, "Reach out Tera, use the force, feel the peace in me"

"No emotion? No passion? Sounds boring. Without emotion, there is no love. Nothing to tie you to another person. I'd even argue that peace and serenity are forms of emotion." Tera looked dissatisfied at Brons answer. "There is always emotion, and ignorance, and passion, and chaos and death. Refusing to acknowledge these is short sighted."

Looking at Tera, Bron replies "Those emotions exist yes, but they lead to bad decisions, corruption, things a Jedi fights against."

Bron looks away for a moment before saying "There is an older saying, original and not marred by time and change..

Emotion, yet peace.
Ignorance, yet knowledge.
Passion, yet serenity.
Chaos, yet harmony.
Death, yet the Force.

Hanging his head as if almost in shame he continues " and then there is the Sith, the dark side of the force...

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

Bron cannot bring himself to face Tera, the words of a Sith leaving a foul taste in his mouth.

Tera frowned as she listened to Bron. "I'm not convinced. To me, peace and serenity are emotions and it sounds like your creed is one of detached isolation. What good are you, if you're unwilling to step in and do what needs to be done to help people?" she asked the question "Though admittedly the other creed sounds incredibly selfish. I really don't like that option at all."

"It is within out teachings, to serve the republic, to protect the people. To do the right thing we cannot attach emotions to people. We must be able to see what we defend clearly, without the haze of emotion. This is not an easy path, you are much older than the old order would have accepted into its halls. Then again you may have been found as a youngling and accepted." Bron says with a shrug.

Continuing Bron says "It is important the the order be brought back from the flames, to once again be guardians and protectors of the galaxy, of the innocent. If not us, then who? The empire has all but destroyed the peace the galaxy once knew. There is a reason you left imperial service, you do not have to tell me but consider that when making your choice"

Tera raised an eyebrow "The reason I left Imperial service was because I was accused of genocide, it wasn't altruistic. An accusation was placed at my feet and the surrounding documentation proved I was responsible." Tera pursed her lips "You know...you're just making it sound worse. I'm too old to be effectively trained...why? Because I ask questions instead of just blindly accepting what you're saying?"

Tera shook her head "Emotional detachment leads to callousness and even psychopathy. You need to be invested in what you're protecting. The way you're stating it, you're part of an order devoted to looking after people, but the crux of the matter is that you don't care."

"Did you commit these acts? No, I do not believe so. I would not feel the good in you. This shows you how bad the Empire can be. I do not believe you are too old, the old precepts would have denied you. I myself was denied, it was only the genocide of the Jedi that changed my Masters mind."

Looking down Bron sighs and continues saying, "I agree, it should not be all non-emotional, there must be a balance. My old Master taught me well, but he clung to the dead remains of the old precepts. In order to rebuild, I think we must find balance in the Force."

Bron looks away, almost in shame.

Tera looked surprised at Brons candour. "Of course I'm not guilty. Would I be wanted throughout the Empire for genocide, if I'd planned it? They'd be giving me a medal and promotion instead if I'd actually done it."

Tera nodded in agreement with Bron's words. "A balance...that's something I can agree with. Not all emotion is negative, but striving to be emotionless is just as negative as negative emotions. I can see where emotions might make someone falter or compromise, but equally, emotions can also be the source that gives you strength to keep going." Tera looked at the lightsaber Bron had left for her, almost reluctant to touch it. "So... does this mean you're going to teach me?"

Opening his palm upwards with the two pieces of crystal in them he makes them levitate a few inches above his palm. Looking to Tera he says "The force connects everything, you only need reach out and feel it"

Slowly the crystals return to their place on his palm and he says "You try Tera"

Tera mind reached out to the crystals Bron held in his hand. She could feel the connection between the crystals herself and Bron and the speeder they were riding in, and then it grew, she could feel the crystals around them. The stones started dancing in Brons hand as she focussed on them.
