Lyla rotated her glass thoughtfully through Jason's explanation, smiling with residual laughter and amusement at the odd turn of the conversation. That would be the alcohol talking. But the wilderness expert in her was pleased at Jason's deduction regardless. 'Well thought out. Poisonous prey creatures do tend to be brightly coloured, but as a warning – poison's no good if you still get eaten... But venomous predators tend not to advertise...' said wilderness expert explained.

'But no, twi'leks, and their – heh – lekku are not poisonous. At least, I've not heard of anyone dying from eating one of us. You'd be surprised how rarely that comes up... No, the colours are just a genetic variation, like hair or skin colour, but with more flair. It used to be a racial thing, I'm orgean, but we're pretty mixed up now.'

OOC: Then again, there actually is a twi'lek with poisonous stingers in their lekku:

I've always seen Lyla's portrait as orange.

Jason considers that and nods.

"Yeah.. I guess humans have several variations of skin colours too.. Ours just aren't so.. well.. Colourful.."

He's about to turn back to his drink when he looks back at Lyla.

"So why does Tera think your lekku are dangerous?"

'Not dangerous to others...' Lyla chewed her lip for a while, then decided, like ripping off a bacta-patch, to just get it over with. He'd just keep asking until he knew. Fortunately, she was drunk enough not to be embarrassed, and shameless enough not to care. Lyla lifted her lekku-tchin over her shoulder, putting it on display, her tentacle gently writhing in her hand. 'Everyone thinks they're a weakness, but lekku are long and thin to help radiate away heat, keeping us cool. The day side of Ryloth is mostly hot desert, you see. They also contain stores of fat we can live off, and some muscles to move them. Not strong enough to be prehensile, but enough for basic movement, a gesture or something.' To demonstrate, she let the end wiggle around her plate to clean up the sauce. She could only control roughly the bottom half, the muscles weren't strong enough versus the weight to make it fully prehensile.

'But, inside, near the top, are cores of brain matter. Mostly managing motor functions and long-term memory. So an injury can be pretty serious. I banged them in the crash, then again when a Gutretee thumped me in the head, and suffered flashbacks alongside a concussion.' She indicated a spot near the top of lekku-tchin, but the bruises had healed now.

'So, anyway, the nerve endings are pretty short but plentiful down the length, making them sensitive to temperature, wind, and especially touch. Getting hit in them stings like frack, trust me. But if touched gently...' She shrugged, admitting at last 'They're erogenous zones. Hence the playing with.' To keep from smirking, she tried to stuff her mouth with food, but only had her saucy lekku-tchin to hand. So she sucked that off, with the guiltiest look a twi'lek could have.

"I am Rekara, listener to the sorrow" the half craze Mon Calamari replied to Tera, she held the hunk of rock close to her chest and shook her head sadly.

Kneeling down next to the Mon Calamari Woman, Bron closes his eyes and focuses on her. Reaching forward in a non hostile, and gentle manor Bron places his finger tips on her shoulder.

Be calm

Bron extends his feelings, touching the Mon Calamari woman and the stone, searching for anything that might explain what happened to her.

Her head continued to shake as the two Jedi tried to calm her. When Bron reached out to her with his mind she recoiled violently to huddle in the corner the rock in her hands held in front of her defensively, as if to ward of some attack.

She whimpered to herself sadly "Odrion? Poor Odrion. On Sedri, strange Sedri. We must rescue him! We must stop the crying!"

Jason considers that while watching Lyla lick sauce off her own Lekku and even though he'd watched it before, it seems different now, but he quickly shakes his head. She's his direct superior now, so whatever brief fantasies he might have had are done with now.

"I guess that's not entirely different from human hair.. Aren't nerve endings at the top of our heads and connected to our hair some of the most sensitive ones we have? Still it's good to know these things.."

Then he considers something else and smirks.

"So if part of your brain is inside your Lekku, that makes it larger than mine? Must be why you're in charge, I also need your help with my next tax return.. or at least I would if i wasn't a traitor.."

Dropping her supple tail in her lap, Lyla shrugged. 'I dunno about you humans. Ask Tera. But wouldn't it hurt like hell every time you got a haircut?' Not actually having any fur, Lyla didn't know how that worked. Humans were weird.

She made a show of considering Jason's next question on relative brain sizes. 'You know, I reckon it is!' she teased. 'Yup, old twi'leki saying: I've got the tails for this job.' She tapped her head/lekku-tchin meaningfully, then took a sip of her drink.

Then, with mock suspicion, she demanded 'Wait. Is that the real reason you went to the Rebels? A tax dodge?'

Jason grins and opens his hands in a placating gesture.

"Well I was a tie fighter pilot, who would have thought i'd make it to tax day!"
He looks back towards the way Tera went.

"Think we should check in on her? Find out what's going on?"

Klyn quickly lost interest in the exchange between Jason and Lyla.

He wondered a bit if the pilot was trying to flirt with her, but quickly shrugged the notion.  His thoughts wandered back to the Gold. Mainly on the subject of which part to add first.  And if Tera managed to get a bacta tank, some energy derivations would be needed... and a good check on waterproofness in the medical bay... just in case.

Klyn blinked a few times before the question really reached him.

"Well... I'm currently trying to decide how to modify the twin cannons on the Gold.  I could have increase both to 4 canons, or keep one main at 4 and 3 as twin canons...

I need to check on the Gold to see how to make sure we can fire at almost all angle while keeping a possibility to keep a good front and rear fire power."

Lyla glanced idly around the hall, none too interested. 'Nope, I think they all went off together. I mean, you can't miss a wookiee, right? ...Maybe it was a hairball.' Though she was determined not to let anything spoil her celebratory mood, she was starting to grow concerned for Tera, who'd been gone a while. She had a bad feeling about this. All this fuss and urgency had the makings of a mission. 'They'll call us if they need anything.' she decided.

Huddled in the corner Rekara continued to weep. As Chu-Shkar took her in his long arms she did not resist him, some sense of recognition passed between the two and in a lucid motion she recognised the fellow member of the diplomatic corps.

"The Golden sun turns the sea gold" she whimpered as she clung to Chu-Shkar. Her energies were spent now she had found a place she felt safe. In the Wookiee's arm she went quiet and withdrawn, her eyes sad but no longer crazed.

Quantros had felt outcast, and had looked on to the events unfolding. Now, more than ever, he felt out of place here. His time had long since past, and maybe he might've been useful, once. However, though he felt welcome, this feeling of uselessness to the present situation irritated him. He had no better ideas on how to deal with the Calamari woman, and Bron seemed to have had the same idea he did on where to find more clues. He tried to recollect himself, thinking it'd be a good idea to calm his thoughts before proceeding with the situation.
