Re: The Imperial Base

The Main Generator was badly damaged by Quantros. Its outer casing was fractured and oily smoky trailed from its core whilst sparks arced from wires. The alarm screeched loudly making everyone have to shout to be heard. Klyn set a timer on the frag grenades and jammed them into the machinery. Quantros gave the technician a chance at escaping with his lightsaber. When the technician saw the damage to the generator his face paled but he shook his head at Lyla "the turbolifts on the lower levels will have been disabled when the alert was sounded" he grabbed a repulsorsled and helped moved the unconscious technicians and was ready to flee with them.

Klyn's analysis was that the Rebels were already on the lowest level of the Imperial base. The best exit would be the way they came in through one the unmanned launch ports and straight into the ocean. Klyn, Lyla and Quantros were close to the pool they had entered by. Tera, Bron and Cu-Shkar could try a different one or attempt to cross through the base and escape the same way as the others.

Quantros breathed, deactivating his lightsaber. "Looks like we're swimming, then." He then moved to assist the technician in putting his stunned comrades on the repulsorlift. "This may be a bad time, but you do realize that if you manage to get back to the Empire, your superiors will blame you for the destruction of the generator." He gave the technician a serious look, before heading over to the door the rebels entered from. "Food for thought," he told him, redrawing his lightsaber.

Re: The Imperial Base

The disabled turbolifts were both a blessing a curse: no enemies coming from that way, but also no other way out. Lyla sighed and helped Quantros and the technician shift the unconscious bodies out of the turbolifts and onto the sled. 'Tell 'em you were overwhelmed by our good looks and high Rebel ideals. Now get outta here!' she snarled, a vain attempt at intimidation to urge him on his way. Were they too kind? They didn't exactly have the time to win hearts and minds here.

She raised her SG-4, switched to lethal, then checked her team were all ready to move out. 'It could be hot out there. Jason, take point. Quantros, beside him. Klyn and I will take the rear. Let's reunite with the others, then bug out. Let's get away fast before this thing sinks. I don't want us to be pulled down with it.'

As they moved out, she commed to Tera. 'We're done. We'll join up with you, then get away together.'

He says as he takes point as indicated, keeping his rifle ready. There's bound to be resistance when they try to leave considering all the destruction they just caused, so he checks every corner before stepping around it, and tries to be ready for anything.

Re: The Imperial Base

Their sabotage started the Rebels joined the chaos in the Imperial base. If the activation of the AT-AT had prompted excitement the warning sirens and emergency lighting gave an extra urgency to the running people. Technicians, officers, Stormtroopers were everywhere. In the damp and dim environment the disguises of Tera, Bron and Jason kept anything more than casual inspection away and the Rebels rejoined and plunged again into the green ocean of Sedrian.

The threat of pursuit made for an anxious swim back to the Alabak's Gold and a fast getaway in the aquatic starship. The journey back to Fitsay was a chance to recover their breath and congratulate themselves. As they left the Imperial base behind the Alabak's Gold's sensors detected the AT-AT swimmer in the ocean but not following them. The damage to the base was hard to measure but it was still floating when they left sensor range. The danger to Fitsay and the Sedrian had been lessened but still existed.

When Fitsay came into view Pek was eager to go visit his father and pass on the Rebels news.

Re: The Imperial Base

It was a desperate and hurried flight through the Imperial sea-base amidst the rushing personnel, and, even by propulsion units, a hard swim out the underwater launch ports before something launched through them, and away from the superstructure before it sunk and they were pulled down with it. Lyla wasn't sure if that would happen or not, but she didn't want to find out. The whole way out, her tails itched like something was going to snatch them any second. She didn't relax until they were all aboard the Gold and powering away at speed.

Then exploded with an ecstatic whoop, punching the air in victory. 'Woohoo!' Her cheer went on for a long while, before she caught her breath and her wits. 'We were amazingly lucky we didn't run into any serious opposition back there. No Stormtroopers. Fortunately, our own worst enemy was ourselves.'

She turned in her chair to face the rest of the team. 'So, now what? Back to Fitsay... or follow up that lead we had?' She meant tracking down Bishop Karak and framing the Imperials for attempted assassination. She didn't want to share that around Pek, of course.

Klyn had rarely been so relieved to be back inside the Gold. Each turn, each corner inside the station could have lead to their dead.
"I never expected us to escape alive after all the mistake we made" he acknowledged
"We did some heavy damage but ultimately we failed: the base wasn't sinking when we left." He was both frustrated and worried.

"With all the fuss we made, I don't think it would be safe to try to follow that lead, we better go back to the city and continue our investigations there."

"Look on the bright side, Klyn. We set the Imperial operations back some time. It's quite possible they won't be able to to commit to any plans until they repair the damage we've done." Quantros stood, turning his attention to Lyla. "I vote we follow our lead. It's our best chance to weaken the Empire's grip on this planet." Quantros thought for a moment. What he was thinking was certainly possible, but had he recovered enough to do it? He could at least try. "If you have a little faith, I believe I can track him down. Not in the Force, but in me. I know who he is, I know what he looks like, I believe I can find where he is." It was a longshot, and it had been...years since he last attemped this, but it could help them find their lead. What's more, he had put a little trust in Lyla. He hoped she would do the same, now that he demonstrated his power.

Re: The Imperial Base

Lyla checked a rearwards viewscreen, seeing the sea-base still disappointingly afloat. 'Even if she doesn't sink, we have to have severely hampered operations there. No power means no computers, no sensors, no environmental controls. I don't care whether they're swimming in seawater or sewage.' she decided. 'I just hope the damage is permanent.'

She was glad to hear Quantros willing to vote on things. 'Track him how?' she asked, still wary of the answer. She was prepared to trust her team, but she'd been disappointed a lot of times with this Force thing, and she still wasn't entirely sure what she'd seen at the generator as time brought doubts. But maybe she didn't need to know the answer. If the Goddess wanted to work through this annoying human as some kind of prank, then she would take it. 'I'm a damn good tracker when it comes to trails, but in an ocean, I don't know.' She shrugged. 'Let's track together. Your plan needs a small group: you, me, and Jason can follow it up. The rest of the team can go on to Fitsay and tell High Priest Cardo what we found.'

"You managed to trap their computers? Well done. I should have thought about it too..." complimented Klyn.
"Well, on second thought, we ran in so many different kind of trouble that I wouldn't have had the time to do something remotely efficient..."

Klyn wasn't really happy to split the group again, but at least Lyla wouldn't be alone with the troublemaker.
"How do you plan to follow him? We don't have much in term of underwater transport..."

"We could have done better I think. But we also survived, and that's always a big plus. So let's call it a minor win why don't we. And improve on stuff that needs improving next time.."

He considers their options while checking the controls of the ship. He was glad to be onboard a ship again, even if it was underwater.

"That AT-At could cause a lot of trouble, we should at least warn the Sedrians, so your plan sounds, we should also get them ready for what's about to come their way.."

Re: The Imperial Base

"We can use the waveskimmers," Quantros suggested to Klyn. "Lyla can pilot the skimmer to where we need to go, then I can guide Jason to the target. As for how I know where he's going to be..." Quantros looked at Lyla, his brow already furrowing in frustration. "You're going to be skeptical."

Quantros let out a deep sigh, mentally preparing himself to deliver his suggestion. "At the height of my power, I was able to capture glimpses of other places, people, and events. If I focused on one person or one place, I could gather clues about where they were, or where they would be through visions I received through the Force. Even before I was frozen, it was a long time since I used this power, as I didn't have much need of it. But I believe I can still remember how to do it, or at the very least, something similar."

Quantros held up a hand, preemptively cutting off the objection he saw coming. "I know what your answer is, and no, I didn't need the Force to tell me. But I'm asking you to trust me." Quantros lowered his hand, and looked at Lyla seriously. "I'm willing to be a team player, if you're willing to humor me a little. I've already admitted I might be wrong about you, and I put my faith in your plan. I only ask that you do the same."

He shrugged. "You're already sending the rest of the team to warn Sedrians, so we can handle a little alone time. If I'm wrong, then we just use that time to build a team's bond. But if I'm right, we track down the lead, and enact my plan. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain."

Re: The Imperial Base

'Good work, Chu!' Lyla cheered the Wookiee.

'Of course I'm going to be skeptical. It's in my nature.' Lyla had said, but she heard Quantros out regardless, skeptical as predicted yet open-minded and with one eye and one tail on the mission.

When he was done, she weighed up her words and answered 'But we do have something to lose: the mission... Look, I don't understand what you say you do, the same way I don't understand what Klyn does to engines or what Chu-Shkar says. But I can trust their claims, their results. But you − something happened back there in the generator room, but only after a lot of trying and failing. Maybe you're right, but you've also been very wrong.' she pointed out, and tried to be conciliatory. 'If there is something to this, I reckon it's like a game of sabaac: sometimes the cards come up in your favour, sometimes they don't. It doesn't matter if I believe or not, we can't hang the mission on that.'

'We all come from different places. I started as a scout. If I picked a trail without weighing up all the options, the evidence, the chances, without being fully prepared, I could wind up lost or dead. I take the same approach in this. That's why I sent two teams to sabotage the two generators, to make sure.'

'We will not do it your way.'
she decided, pausing briefly and eyeing Quantros for his reaction. 'And we won't do it my way. We'll do it our way, together, because we're a team. We'll track together, your skills and mine, to make sure we get the job done.'

Re: The Imperial Base

Quantros listened to Lyla. If he were who he was four thousand years ago, he wouldn't think it necessary for both of them to try. But he wasn't, and this was apparent even to him. He nodded. "I understand your reasoning. It is a sound plan. If one fails, the other can succeed. Honestly, I would make the same decision in your place."

Quantros held up as finger, as if to make a point. "However, I feel the need to correct you. Your comparison of the Force is not entirely accurate. My connection with the Force is more like a muscle, one that atrophied with a lack of use, and now I must exercise constantly in order for it to be strong again." He relaxed, letting out a small sigh as he reminisced for a second. "Regardless, In due time, my connection will recover, and I will gain some semblance to what I was at the height of my power. Until that time, you're stuck with a weak, but still useful, version of me. When do we begin?"

Lyla rolled her eyes and sighed 'I gotta learn Wookiee. I'm missing all the jokes.'

Returning her attention to Quantros, she answered gladly 'Great! I'll take weak but useful any day!' She was relieved Quantros had decided to be a team-player – well, at least until the next time, she figured cynically. But, baby steps, Lyla, baby steps.

'We can begin now.' Lyla turned around, looking for their Sedrian guest. 'Hey, Pek? Do you know where Bishop Karak is hiding out?' she asked. Asking was the first and best step. Around Fitsay, no-one knew where the ex-Bishop had made his base, but she figured the prince might have some ideas.

Unfortunately Pek could only shake his head "Karak is thinking with his flippers. No one knows where he is hiding with his renegades" he replied to Lyla. Pek had missed some of the action in the Imperial base but he heard the Rebels discuss their next actions and realised Fitsay was in trouble. He urged the Rebels on and went with Klyn, Chu-Shkar and Tera in the Alabak's Gold. Splitting up again Lyla, Jason and Quantros departed on a speeder-raft to try and find Karak's lair.
