You make me sound like Towelie!

Jason was part of our expedition, until he got high and just sorta... wondered off..

Lyla Rahn:
The response from Jason came as a relief to Lyla. 'Alright. If you see a security kit or tool kit, see if you can smuggle it back. Carry on.' she quickly acknowledged, before considering the tactical situation. Two unarmed technicians would be easy to subdue; reliably, four people could do, or three and a Wookiee.

Or one Wookie if he was able to sneak up behind both at the same time. :-)

I have been surprised by this team's lack of preparation a few times. In a good way though, as I know you are all focusing on the character development and role-play rather just getting the best stuff.

I find Star Wars game achieves that sort of good gaming really easily, whereas in D&D every party is so balanced and has every conceivable item stashed somewhere.

Re: OOC

I think that's because it's easier to find everything and the items are cheaper in D&D. I'm a slicer that can't afford a computer. A portable computer costs 5000 credits. Far outside the reach of starting characters. most of the items are outside of the reach of starting characters. This causes the players to have to work around those deficits, leading to better role play.

I'm back for a bit. Currently in my hotel room. If I'm needed for action, I'm posting from my phone.

That said, I don't have my books, for obvious reasons.

Re: OOC

SWSE tends to be less equipment-oriented than D&D; a generic blaster rifle is sufficient for most PCs, and few items give any particularly special powers or bonuses. After all, the closest thing to a magical sword is a lightsabre.

Then again, some items seem needlessly expensive, as Chu says. A regular pair of electrobinoculars, as used by Luke early in the first movie, is 1000 credits, which is impossible to get alongside other equipment at creation. I really want a pair for Lyla, but never yet been able to afford them in any game. I had the chance here in our load-out, but seem to have forgotten.

I suspect the intent is, rather than buy expensive blaster rifles, that PCs start out with cheap sporting blaster pistols, then kill bad guys and take their better weapons. But the licensing issue kind of makes it hard to carry stolen weapons. (Have licenses ever come up?) And what PC will forgo the chance at extra damage? :)

Re: OOC

Equipment has always been a bit iffy in saga, everything is so balanced out there's nothing really 'fun' to buy. Except ships.

Re: OOC

Licenses tend to impact on more urban or subterfuge games. Hasn't really been relevant to this game so far as you have either been on the lawless Outer Rim or in direct confrontation with the Empire.

I agree equipment has little or no influence on the game but Tool kit/Security kit/Medical kit are all essential to make certain Skill effective, the parallel in D&D is like a Cleric with no holy symbol or a thief without thieves tools.

I have included a couple of random and homebrew items as rewards and to keep things interesting. I should do it more often, but sometimes I'm just not creative enough. I have tried to provide an interesting and alternative starship the Alabak's Gold. As Jason has pointed out Starships are fun.

Chu-Shkar does have a generic tool kit, but not the specialized tools he needs.

I just want to steal to my own starfighter! Maybe a tie bomber, they're actually pretty decent in saga edition, work more like missile boats than bombers.

Why would you want to? :D

What are the technicians wearing? They were underwater, so I assume a dive-suit of some kind. Are they Imperial-style suits we could take and use for disguises?

Too late for me to update tonight. Will update tomorrow and will be posting a full floor plan for the Imperial Base on Chu-Shkar's terminal.
