The Opening Parlay
Lyla still didn't know how Rekara had wound up with a hunk of the precious coral, but she was sure that if she put it back, the fog over her mind might lift. If not, Cardo could use its power to heal her. She hoped so, anyway. The Sedrians ought to appreciate its return, at least.
'Oh, no, no, you don't have to come,' she tried telling Rekara when the Mon Calamari made to follow her out of the ship. A babbling non-combatant carrying a stolen religious treasure likely to inflame both sides of fanatics in a delicate negotiation just was not going to help here. But, too late, she was out. 'I guess you do.' she sighed into her breather.
Swimming after, she listened to the opening exchange between Cardo and this Fala. Lyla was worried to hear Karak was not joining them – he had to be up to mischief.
As the Sedrians lowered their weapons, surprisingly, Lyla looked to her team. 'Lower them or sling them so they don't float away.' The corollary to that of course was 'Keep your weapons close.' Lyla pointed her SG-4 down at the sand.
'Thank you for agreeing to talk with us.' Lyla said to Fala. 'May I ask where Bishop Karak is?' she asked, having a fair idea where. It seemed a good lead in to showing them where he really was.
