The Imperial Attack

As the Imperials attack the city the valiant Sedrian swam forward to be joined by the renegade force. Alike the two groups of Sedrians met withering fire from seatroopers and the Swimmer. Neither group was daunted as they challenged the Empire to protect their home. A wave of seatroopers fell and the weakened Sedrian force fanned out to engage the enemy. Only the Swimmer continued to advance as the Imperial battled the sealpeople.

Suddenly the sea glowed a dazzling gold and the Swimmer hesitated. Was this the chance the Rebels were awaiting for...

Things were not going well for the poor Sedrians.

It was obvious their intervention would decide the fate of the battle.
And there was little room for error.
Klyn scanned the situation to get a better appraisal of just how dire the situation was.

Lyla leaned over the console, peering intently through the viewport as battle was joined, seeking some way to lead this desperate defence to some kind of victory. But it all looked like complete chaos to her, Sedrians and seatroopers swimming in all directions. It was hard to realise a tactical advantage in three dimensions.

Then a now-familiar golden glow arose in the sea. Un-superstitious, Lyla didn't hesitate to wonder what this could mean. 'The Swimmer's confused, now's our chance! Let's fly over its back – the thing's an adapted walker, it's designed to shoot downwards. We can sabotage it from above.'

The Imperial Attack

As before when the Alabak's Gold was making its first approach toward the ocean of Sedri and had lost all power mid-flight as the ocean turned gold, it happened again.

The wave of energy from the Golden Sun struck the starship and the computer systems were knock out by the power surge. From the look of the AT-AT Swimmer it had been equally effected as its movement stalled and the swinging of its head ceased.

Whilst the Imperial seatrooper and the Sedrians fought could the Rebels deal with the Swimmer whilst it was disabled or would it become a race to which machine the Rebel space boat or Imperial Swimmer became active first.
OOC Current Initiative order. Any actions taken aboard the Alabak's Gold is -10 Initiative due to its size. Jason can make a Pilot check instead of Initiative check as per the rules on vehicle combat.

He was certain those shutdowns weren't good for the Gold's equipment.

Hearing Jason's answer, Lyla again cursed their bad luck. 'I don't suppose we can get out and push? Okay, get us close as possible, then we'll swim the rest of the way, and keep our tails crossed we can make it.'

She followed Tera down to the airlock, where she picked up the propulsion pack she'd looted from the ISC ship back on Isis. 'I doubt it will help. The Golden Sun's not exactly helping us help it now, is it?' she muttered to Tera as she hooked the propulsion pack to her divesuit, and lowered the breathing unit and goggles. Then she switched her SG-4 rifle to underwater mode, wicked harpoon ready at the snout. 'The boys are manning the ship. Leaving us girls to woman this fight.' she said with a dangerous grin, before she hit the airlock button.

The Alabak's Gold's engine had stuttered to a stop as the power cut off but Klyn was quick to go and try to remedy it. Chu-Shkar was on it too, to do what he could to aid the ship engineer. The pair began to initiate whatever overrides they could as well and restarting the engines. The surge that the Golden Sun had sent through the systems was likely to cause damage but Klyn knew how to take care of the ship and his work did plenty to prevent any serious harm. It was still not going to be easy for the pair to fix things.

Ready to enter the fray Tera and Lyla left the ship. Jason did the best he could to keep the Alabak's Gold on course toward the AT-AT Swimmer but without the engine there was nothing to stop the sea pulling the ship off course.

In sea the Sedrians battled with the seatroopers. The Imperial forces were heavily outnumbered and without the support of the AT-AT Swimmer the Sedrian were not defeated yet.

Four squads of Imperial Seatroopers were fighting against over a hundred Sedrian, renegades and defenders standing side by side against the greater evil.

Onboard the Rebel ship the Chu and Klyn worked hard but couldn't get the ship's systems operation yet. Jason steered the ship onward but he couldn't stop it slowing to stop.

Still zooming through the water, Lyla lined up her SG-4, drawing a bead on the nearest of the seatroopers guarding the stricken Swimmer. It was a long shot, and longer still in water – for a seatrooper with blaster. For Lyla with her SG-4 in harpoon mode, and most especially with her hunter's eyes, it might as well be right next to her. She let loose her mini-harpoon, a gleaming skewering speeding through the water toward the first of the seatroopers.

OOC: I think I still have an action last round, hence my attack. The nearest seatrooper is 45 squares away, falling into short range (with the SG-4 in harpoon mode). My Far Shot feat reduces that to Point Blank range, no penalty.

The Imperial Attack

There was no way the Rebels were going to attempt to overcome the Imperial AT-AT Swimmer without the back up of the Alabak's Gold. The crew rushed around the starship, scattering tools and pulling at wires. There was no being in the galaxy that knew the modified jumpship as well as Klyn. The engineer made a breakthrough, power began to buzz through the systems. Chu-Shkar detected the power faintly at first and then growing. The Wookiee calculated they will have the engine and weapon systems back on line very soon.

At the fore Lyla swam directly at the Imperial Swimmer, courageous or reckless, the leader of the Rebels bought the crew time as the seatroopers directed their attacks against her. In seatrooper armour three of the stormtroopers propelled themselves quickly at the Rebel. Their propulsion packs with aquatic fins attached to their armour they surged forward. Also equipped with SG-4s their harpoons sliced through the ocean. None could hit Lyla as she slipped passed every strike as she jetted through the water. Her own shot embedded the harpoon into the seatrooper, hampering their movement but not taking them out of the fight yet.

Imperial Attack

OOC Lyla has a Swim speed 6 whilst the propulsion pack is activated. She has used 2 of its 10 charges left. A swift action to turn it off.

The Alabak's Gold will have power restored to all systems and be on line in 2 rounds! The Swimmer remains inactive at the moment.

Tera still has an action, so post two rounds to catch up.

Not wanting to swim alone into the thick of the seatroopers, Lyla switched off the propulsion pack, suddenly sliding to a halt against the wall of water and swinging to a vertical orientation. Let them come to her, while she hopefully stayed out of range a little while longer. She just wished she had some cover, she was feeling awfully exposed out here in the middle of open ocean. Maybe she should've stayed close to the ship?

Deciding to soften up the front line, she switched targets to the next seatrooper along, sending a harpoon hurtling into the eyehole of his helmet. That should give him something to think about.

Inside the powerless starship the crew bustled with activity. Everybody moved to their posts and began to prepare for battle. Gunners strapped themselves in. Jason and Klyn occupied the cockpit ready to command the engines, shields and power. In the turrets were Chu-Shkar and Rynn, through the laser guns targeting scopes they saw Lyla continue to distract the approaching Imperial Seatroopers.

Their propulsion packs on the Seatroopers continued to close the gap between them and Lyla. Harpoon shot filled the green sea but none hit their target as Lyla switched off her pack and slowed to a stop. The Seatroopers were not so skilled or lucky. A harpoon from Lyla's rifle struck the centre trooper, the trooper's blood leaking from their suit to turn the sea around them pink.

Lured by voices in her head Tera made for the Great Shell Dome. She saw Pek swimming to do the same. They would have to get through the ranks of Seatroopers that attacked the undersea city to reach it.

'For the Goddess's sake, everyone get a move on!' Lyla cried down the comlinks, urging the team to action, even as she waved a hand through the water to signal the Sedrians for a fresh push against the seatroopers.

Returning to her seaside shooting range, Lyla was uncomfortably aware she was alone and exposed before an Imperial army, but her desperate successes gave her a confident edge. Come on, you sons of schuttas! Rather than target the advancing wave of seatroopers again, Lyla looked beyond them to those still clustered around the Swimmer as escort, waiting. They thought they were safe. She needed to stir them up a bit, draw them away. She lined up a shot, squeezed it off, and was satisfied to see another strike. But her luck was slowly running out.

She glanced briefly back to the Alabak's Gold, still not yet powered up. Come on, old girl. I know you can do it.

Re: The Imperial Attack

There was only so long that Lyla could heroically hold her ground. As she backed off more harpoons shot toward her, again many flew harmlessly passed then one struck her a powerful blow. It was not one sided though as she shot back at a Seatrooper, again her shot was successful and bloodied the Imperial forces.

Whatever harm may have been caused the Rebel brave leader's sacrifice had gained them the time to return power to the Alabak's Gold, an event which may well turn the tide of the battle as the AT-AT Swimmer remained lifeless.

Imperial Attack

OOC The ship is running and every can now act.

Lyla takes 11 damage from a harpoon.

Re: The Imperial Attack

The Alabak's Gold came to life in a burst of activity. The ship's repulsor engines thrust it toward the lifeless Swimmer. Lyla swam to find cover, her escape was followed by more harpoons. Two of them finding their mark and bring more pain and blood. It was not with retaliation as the ship's guns burned through the ocean toward the Imperial forces. The turrets were off target but Jason shot the Swimmer with the pilot guns and the immoble AT-AT Swimmer was blasted hard enough to make it sway and rock.

At the sight of the jumpship moving toward them the Imperial troopers fell back to regroup and defend their helpless Swimmer.

Imperial Attack

Re: The Imperial Attack

Lyla had caught the underside of the Gold, but not before the enemy harpoons caught her. Not enough to kill or maim, but enough to hurt, bleed, and really piss her off. Swinging around, taking cover behind the landing gear, she thumbed her SG-4 back to blaster mode. She had the benefit of range now, the Seatroopers didn't. Taking aim again, she fired off a shot at the nearest trooper; it missed, but kept him from getting comfortable.

Glancing around to take in the situation, she was dismayed to see Tera swimming away. 'Tera! We need your lightsabre to cut that thing open!' Wasn't that the plan? Because right now Lyla didn't have another one.

Re: The Imperial Attack

Laser canons fired and burned through the ocean to blast at the immobile Swimmer. Explosions erupted and smoke bubbled into the sea. The Imperial vehicle shook and began to list to one side. Then as victory was in the Rebel's grasp the Swimmer jerked to life, its repulsor engines fired up and righted it.

The AT-AT Swimmer was active. Its head turned to stare menacingly at the Alabak's Gold, the blaster cannon spat angrily, spraying deadly bolts of energy all over the ocean but it was the more accurate lasers which scored a hit against the Rebel ship.

The seatroopers moved to clear the line of fire for the Swimmer and continued to shoot at Lyla. Again a harpoon hit her, it seemed her luck had past.

Further away Tera continued to kick and swim her way toward the Golden Sun as she responded to its cries of fear and confusion.

The Swimmer jerked to a stop and a rumble can be heard deep inside its impenetrable shell. Bright explosions erupted from various openings and the deadly Swimmer began to sink toward the sea bottom, smoke and wisps of fire trailing after it.

The remaining seatroopers continued to fight the Sedrians, although the ones that had protected the Swimmer began a slow retreat from the Alabaks's Gold. More and more defender swam out of Fitsay. Muffled by the din of war Tera heard Pek's booming wail from inside the city "father, the sun caves" he cried in a pained voice. Tera saw Pek as he then darted off toward the Great Shell Dome.

Re: The Imperial Attack

Hearing the muffled explosions, feeling the ship rock around her, Lyla's first fear was that the Alabak's Gold had been hit and was going down. Frantic, she looked through the airlock portal and saw that it was in fact the Swimmer, rent by blaster fire and sinking fast. She was glad she'd gotten the airlock door closed in time, blocking any ear-popping shockwaves she might have suffered this close to the source of the explosions. Thank the Goddess! She didn't need to stick frag grenades up its exhaust ports after all.

'Good work, boys! Commendations for all when we return to Isis!' Lyla commed to the hardworking crew. 'Now let's concentrate on these Seatroopers, and give the Sedrians a flipper... Tera, where're you heading off to?' She needed the medic so she could stop looking like a spiked gutkurr.

She opened the airlock door again, poking her rifle out and shooting at one of the Seatroopers too slow to retreat. She missed, barely, but it should still get him to hurry up.

'Fair ain't an option.' Lyla returned bitterly to Rynn over the comlink. She was seated in the open airlock, lining up another shot on one of the Seatroopers, gratified to score a good hit. Her teammates might have the bigger, better, more destructive ship cannons, but she liked to think she had more finesse. She'd hoped these Seatroopers would take the hint and flee; no hope there though.

After that, Lyla tried contacting Tera again, worried for her friend's state of mind and for safety, so exposed in the open water like she had been. 'Tera! Talk to us! Come back to the Gold, we'll pick you up and carry on to the Dome.'

Re: The Imperial Attack

Following in Pek's wake Tera made it to the Great Shell Dome. Fast behind her the Alabak's Gold laser cannons blasted the remaining Imperial troopers out of the ocean.

Laid at the base of the open dome was Cardo, bathed in gold rays. A grievous wound was slashed across his chest, it looked like it would have been instantly fatal had he not been so close to the caves. Even so, it might be the end of the high priest.

Pek raced to his father's side. The old Sedrian trembled in his son's embrace, Cardo managed a few weak syllables before falling unconscious.

"Karak... the caves..." were Cardo's last words. Rage twisted the young Sedrian's features and Pek's booming voice filled the watery depths "Karak!"

Waves of fear and anger flow through the Force to reach Tera. Aboard the Alabak's Gold the power of the Golden Sun reached the usually quiet Mon Calamarian Rekara "we must expel the dark ones from the caves of light" the water-breather rushed out of the starship and she joined Tera at the entrance to the caves.

'Of course we must.' she muttered, thinking she'd had her fill of mystics now. 'Alright, I'm going down to the cave. Join me when you can.' she commed back to the boys manning the ship, then dove out of the airlock after Rekara and Tera, soon catching up with them and Pek at the cave mouth.

'I'm sorry. He was a good man.' she offered condolences to Pek, thinking of the death of the own parents, but regrettably they had little time for commiserations. 'Did you see who or how many went inside?'

When Lyla asked her questions Pek just shook his head grimly, he was more animated when Tera offered help for his father "yes, please save him" the Sedrian pleaded.

As the battle amongst the Sedrians and Imperials raged throughout the city it was quieter closer to the glow of the Golden Sun. Fala swam closer when she heard the yell of anguish from Pek. The woman turned to Lyla "my father is always accompanied by his six most trusted bodyguards and his razort pet" she warned.

Once she had her answers, whether she liked them or not, Lyla checked her blaster rifle and swam toward the cave mouth. She paused, looking back to attempt an inspiring speech to her team. It worked better than she'd thought, her passion and anger fuelling her tone. 'Alright, form up and follow me. We'll be facing Seatroopers and hostile Sedrians. Once inside the cave the pressure the Rebels had felt at the entrance eased but did not vanish completely. Chu-Shkar pointed out a small passage to the right. The main passageway led into a high roofed chamber, which had a large column of coral rising from the centre all the way to the ceiling. On the other side of the coral column were more openings into other caves.

The creature was small and Lyla recognised it as similiar to a Chlovi Cat, although they were not feline at all but amphibian mammals. Its body was long and sinewy. Its furs glistened with a slimy coating which shined with bioluminescent which helped it blend into the coral caves and sneak up on its prey.

Oh no, not again! Lyla's glib thoughts masked a very real dread as she realised how much danger she was in here, already badly wounded, trapped in here with the razort, and cut off from her team. There was nothing she could do to get herself righted and out of here in time. All she could do was hammer her comlink, screaming 'Help! Help me!'

OOC: Initiative 14, no chance of boosting it with an Action Point.

Re: The Imperial Attack

Before Lyla could even react the small predator's wicked claws were raking at her back. Pain coursed through her already wounded body. In a gasp she alerted her companions to the danger.

Quick to aid their leader the group turned around. As they did so a dreadful roar was heard behind them. Tera and Jason were too slow to see it coming as a Sedrian warrior flung himself from hiding in the coral column. He came fast into the Rebels, a massive glowing bone ax held in both hands. He swung the ax at the Imperial fishkiller, a mighty blow which had Jason reeling.

OOC Lyla takes another 4 points of damage from the creatures claws.  Jason takes an enormous 37 points of damage and move 1 step down the condition track. Lyla is no longer surprised and can act as normal. Everyone else Initiative Checks. Jason and Tera remain surprised until their Initiative score is reached.

Re: The Imperial Attack

Help me? Real cool there, Lyla. she thought bitterly as she crawled frantically away from the raking claws of the razort. The pain was severe and terrifying, but she endured, she always endured, with a merry heart and tails of steel. On the plus side, the razort was substantially smaller than she'd feared. So it would kill her slower. She still wasn't going to cruk around with it.

With desperate effort, Lyla shot away, crawling, swimming, kicking her way back down the tunnel, as fast as she could. Partway, she snatched something off her belt, dropped it, let it float behind her for the razort to find instead.

A bleeping frag grenade.

Lyla was still swimming like hell when it went off in the tunnel behind her.

Re: The Imperial Attack

Scrambling away Lyla kicked away the critter and left a grenade in her trail. The Razort swam into the explosion. Metal and rocks blasted into the creature but it was not enough to stop it. The sinewy ball of muscle, vicious teeth and claws crashed into the fleeing Lyla and tore at her. The Razort's fangs were the last things Lyla saw as the pain and trauma her body was suffered knocked her unconscious.

In the coral cave Jason couldn't believe the ferocity and power behind the sudden attack. The pain brought on his adrenaline rush and he reacted with great speed to swing his gun around and shot his attacker. The damage threw the attacker off and left the Sedrian stunned.

OOC As the tunnel is so narrow Lyla's Swim DC will be less than usual so yes she can escape her own grenade! Alas she couldn't avoid the creatures attack which knocked her unconscious.

Tera and Klyn can both act before Dragob. Rynn and Chu-Shkar can act if they get Initiative 12 or better.

After his devastating attack the Sedrian warrior monk turned, ready to flee into the caves and fight guerrilla style within the familiar territory of the coral caves. But as he glanced back the exit behind him slammed shut. Trapped by the Rebels the Sedrian's eyes showed he was ready to fight to the death. Any intention was cut short as Klyn fired a harpoon at the enraged warrior and life went out of his eyes.

Pek swam forward at Klyn's words "that's Dragob. One of Karak's most trusted bodyguards" he replied. Swimming closer also came Rekara, the column of coral glowed brighter at her approach and the lifeless green rock that the Mon Calamari had continued to clutch glowed brightly in response.

From the tunnel wall came the Razort. Wicked claws and sharp teeth slashed at Tera, the Razort would not let its meal be dragged out of its cave so easily. Quick to defend herself Tera's lightsaber prevented the small beast from successful attacking her. The big Wookiee made a grab for the smaller beast but the Razort was too quick for Chu-Shkar to get a grasp onto.

OOC Chu-Shkar can't Grapple as he doesn't have any of the requisite Feats, only action he can take is a Grab. A Grab action is -5 penalty on the attack roll so Chu-Shkar Grab check is d20+0, so missed and provokes an AoO which missed.

Klyn, Pek and Rekara together approached the coral column. As they came closer the chunk of coral the Mon Calamari carried became brighter and brighter. Then with blinding flash she touched the rock to the column. Suddenly the rock becomes one with the column.

"Please, help us" she pleaded, at her request the two passages before them opened to let them pass.

He was unable to grab the squirming cat-beast as it clawed and bit at Tera so more aggressively Chu-Shkar grabbed the power prybar from his toolbelt and swung it hard at the creature. The prybar was heavy and difficult to wield whilst the Razort was quick and agile which left Chu-Shkar flailing in the water. Tera's lightsaber was equally ineffective but it did keep the creature at bay and prevented her suffering any further harm by its teeth or claws.

OOC Chu-Shkar attacked with improvised weapon, power prybar from his toolkit but missed. Tera also missed with lightsaber and used her Second Wind. Tera's block was successful.

Chu-Shkar and Tera are now up.

Her tails a pale orange colour and her body frail, Lyla slowly stirred, eyes flickering open and dimly taking in her surroundings. She saw Tera floating over her, and wondered how she was doing that. Then she realised she was underwater, still. Then she felt the intense searing pain in her back and face. Then she remembered the razort's fangs slashing at her face. 'Gah! Get away!' she yelped in a sudden remembered panic, bubbles bursting past her breather, hands batting at the water.

She soon realised the razort wasn't around, but her friends and team-mates were. Lyla slumped back onto the sea floor, feeling so weak and useless, dreading the mess her face was in. 'Goddess. I really crukked that up.' she sighed in defeat. 'You beat Karak yet?'

Lyla rolled around until she was swimming upright, then searched for her fallen blaster rifle. 'Some wilderness scout I am,' she muttered, 'Can't even handle some little schutta like that, let alone a narglatch.' She'd made an effort to study, respect, and understand the beasts of the wild, to seek a mystical connection, so it was pretty frustrating to have the stupid things try to rip her throat out regardless.

She peered up the tunnel, cleared somewhat after the grenade blast, seeing now it didn't actually go anywhere. 'I hoped this would lead somewhere useful, like a back entrance or gallery or dungeon. Turns out it was just an animal den.' She fetched the SG-4 out from under some shattered corals. Oh, she hoped the Golden Sun wouldn't take offence at that. She was feeling better now; she didn't know what Tera had treated her with, but it seemed to be working. 'Alright, let's go beat this bastard.'

OOC Using a medical kit grants a +2. So DC 15 means the results are the medpacs heal

1st - character lvl +6 hp
2nd - character lvl +6 hp
3rd - character lvl +11 hp
4th - character lvl +5 hp

So overall good results. There's 4 injured characters, an example if you shared the medpacs one each it would look like this

Jason 13 hp, Lyla 11hp, Chu-Shkar 5hp, Tera 5hp. (Chu-Shkar would only gain 5 hp as he would be on maximum and Tera would get 5hp because she gets a -5 penalty for using a medpac on herself) Anyway its up to you how you distribute them.

Tera sensed the  power of the dark side around the priest.

Re: Burborok's Challenge

As the Rebels swam toward their adversary Burborok was impassive and fearless. Jason aimed his rifle ready to take out the threat and Chu-Shkar surged forward to challenge the Sedrian. The water around Tera sizzled and hummed as her lightsaber ignited and added its glow to that of the surrounding Force sensitive coral.

Klyn tried out his new harpoon pistol and Lya shot with the seatrooper rifle. Both harpoons hit their mark and the Sedrian was thrown back in the water, their lifeless corpse left to float in the water. It however was not a victory for the Rebels as the Renegades sprung their trap. Burborok's challenge to Pek had alerted his companions and the Rebels were attacked from their rear by two other Renegades from the other hallways. A strong and heavily muscles Sedrian swam at full fluke, a seashell axe struck at Klyn injurying him. Another Renegade was less violent but no less effective as the Sedrian sent a wave of fear and terror into the mind of Lyla.

As walking into ambushes went, this had gone fairly well, with one foe dead in the first volley (though Lyla was disconcerted to see Burborok floating to the ceiling and bobbing about there) and the group standing together in the tunnel in a semi-decent defensive position and a single-flank battle.

But, just as Lyla was about to rally her team, she was struck with an unnatural panic, one that set her tails on edge. Kicking her legs, she turned and swam away, as fast as she could underwater, down the tunnel past Burborok's drifting corpse, which only gave her fresh terror. A small part of her, trapped deep inside, knew it was wrong, that she was brave, yelled to turn back and fight, but she couldn't stop herself fleeing.

Unusual terror continued to assault Lyla as she fled from the battle. Strategically Klyn stepped away from the axe wielding Sedrian but couldn't manage to hit them dispute the short distance. In the frenetic melee it was hard for anyone to hit Porm but Rynn's blast got through and slammed into Porm, it wasn't enough for put the Sedrian down and he kept fighting. Preferring a simpler target Jason levelled his harpoon at the K'honda and hit the Sedrian Priest. Tera sensed the power of her opponent and swimming she closed the gap but at a wave of the priests hand her mind and senses were overloaded with the power of the Force.

OOC Tera is too far away to attack K'honda with her lightsaber. Klyn successfully withdraws and Chu-Shkar engages Porm. Tera is hit by Force Stun and moves 3 steps down the condition track!

The shots from Rynn and Klyn finished off the enemy Sedrians. Both the big warrior and the powerful Force user collapsed as they were either hit by blaster bolt or harpoon. Gasping for air and struggling to focus her rattled mind Tera couldn't even realise they had won the skirmish. Equally the fear that had struck Lyla didn't fade until she reached a dead end. She found herself in a lower chamber, the glowing coral polyps were in such concentration here that the walls were entirely covered and the light was as bright as a daylight sun.

As Lyla got her wits back, she looked frantically about the dead-end passage, wondering how she'd gotten here, searching for a way out, and trying to adapt her eyes to the harsh, blinding glare. It was like the Bright Lands of Ryloth, she thought, and that memory of home gave her a much-needed sense of strength and peace. At last she got her bearings and could see the way out behind her.

Moving urgently, she put her feet against the far wall and propelled herself swiftly back up the passage, before swimming as fast she could, desperate to return to her team and the fight. What had happened? Running in panic (rather than strategic withdrawal) wasn't like her. She had to get before it was too late. 'I'm coming back.'' she transmitted over comlinks.

Re: Burborok's Challenge

Lyla swam back into the group, glad to see them all alive and kicking, the rebel Sedrians floating corpses. 'I'm here.' she answered Klyn, 'I— I don't know what happened. I didn't run, I just had to...' she struggled to explain, ashamed and confused. She couldn't say what had come over her, and felt deeply disturbed by the loss of control over her own mind. 'I'm sorry. I think this place is getting to me...'

She pointed back down the tunnel. 'That way's a dead end. Let's try tunnel number two. At least we've taken care of these hostiles you were sensing.' Lyla gestured the group to continue into the middle tunnel when they were ready to move.

The big Wookiee was able to clean the strange axe. When the blood was washed from the head of the axe the alien weapon glowed dimly as it drew power from the coral caves. Chu-Shkar was aged and wise, the Wookiee offering his support to Lyla as she returned. The Twi'lek was shaken but strong of will and began to organise the team. Everyone began to prepare themselves and draw a relieved breath. They had come this far and faced many dangers. Tera still sensed a great disturbance. When Lyla pointed up the next tunnel Tera felt a coldness ahead of them.

The further they swam the darker it became. The coral walls seemed to lose their light, the golden glow fading. There was something not right here. Everyone could feel the cold, it felt like death. Then a voice called out to them.

Karak is the largest and most powerful Sedrian the Rebels have yet seen. He wears a blue armbard with a broken shell pattern on it. Grasped in one powerful arm is held the Alliance dignitary Mors Odrion. The other hand is clasped a large coral crystal. Karak glows with energy and glows brighter as the coral around him turns dull.

There is something not right here

For all the nature they'd been trekking through to get here, the darkened tunnel struck Lyla as being utterly unnatural, a place of death and decay, of cold and corruption. She might not sense or understand the Force, but she knew this as a place the Goddess had turned her tails from. Surely no Sedrian could still believe Karak was in the right here. He'd tainted their faith and sold it to the Empire.

Her keen eyes could still pierce the gloom and, as soon as she sighted Karak, she raised her rifle and took aim, not even waiting to hear his gloating. Although he used Odrion as a human shield, the Sedrian was a very large target and Lyla was a very good shot. But the unnerving nature of this place made her aim shaky, and her shot went past and into the walls.

The darkening corridors were an obvious hint about the fact they were not done with the situation.  It also promised trouble, for the darkening was most likely due to someone draining the power, and that someone was simply getting stronger the longer they took.

And, of course, both their target were at the same place.
A glowing sedrian was something Klyn didn't expect, but it only proved his fears were true.
The huge golden Karak in the middle of the dark - hopefully not dead - coral was enough to distract him.

United the Rebels rushed forward to confront their deadly opponent. Harpoons and blaster bolts shot at the Sedrian but the Bishop of War paid no heed. The coral chamber dimmed further as he thrust a hand onward and upwards in the direction of the approaching enemy. As Karak moved Rynn felt a great and powerful Force push against him and send him uncontrollably toward the cave roof.

At the entrance to dim cave Rekara, Pek and Fala paused. All three of them moan in distress. As Tera entered she felt their discomfort. The pleas of the untainted Golden Sun called out to her, although she could not understand it.

Their prey ahead Lyla orchestrated the Rebel attack. The crew of the Alabak's Gold both old and new reacted swiftly to her leadership. All of the Rebels hustled to take advantage of their single opponent. They swarmed around Karak and under-fire the mad Force priest was struck by their attacks. The blast wounded the Sedrian but perhaps not as much as it should have done.

Angered the Sedrian forced his attention on the Twi'lek. He raised a coral crystal and as he crushed it in his hand Lyla felt the power of the Dark side as it tightened on her throat. Helplessly she gagged and squirmed in the water as pulses of pain coursed through her body "weak fool, let me show you my power" he gloated.

As Tera opened her mind to the Golden Sun she heard a thousand singing voices call for peace, harmony and a return of joy. She joined in their dream of togetherness for Sedri. They begged her to join them. Rekara, Pek and Fala hearing the same song grasped hands together and touched the coral walls. Glowing shafts of light extended from their communion to reach forward in invitation to Tera.

When Tera reached on to the others and joined hands with them her mind reached out to Golden Sun. Together the four supplicants to Golden heard the song become louder and more intense. Tera's vision was filled with bright colours and a warm glow surrounded her. Thousands of voices, sad yet full of purpose, sang to her of a world bound together by peace and energy. The many colours shifted so Tera could see once more. Her sight was now more clear than before, but she was no longer in the dim cave and involved in the battle against the villian Karak. Tera saw the whole of coral reef beneath her, it was full of power and energy. A wave of fear washed into her followed by waves of commitment. Then the coral exploded, releasing its energy in waves of happiness and sharing. Then the vision faded. She came back to her self, still holding hands with Pek and the others in the coral caves. Nearby she could again hear the sound of battle as Karak unleashed his unending attacks at her companions.

Tera tried to understand the message the Golden sun gave her. Was it an acknowledgement of her presence and a commitment for assistance? Was the Golden Sun trying to send her a message of what it planned to do. She understood the golden Sun, an aware and sentient coral group. Each part so very small, but together bigger than anything. Tera tried to commune with the sun to have it redeem the coral Karak had infected with his darkness back to the light side, in the hopes it would take away his source of power.

Tera's Choice

Surrounded by the Rebels Karak bellowed in his arrogance. Focused on Lyla his dark power gripped her and sent waves of pain through her body. It was enough of an opportunity for Chu-Shkar to charge in and swinging the alien axe he struck the Sedrian. A harpoon from Klyn was as effective in hitting the target but caused less harm. The Sedrian was wounded but did not waver from his cause "bow to me and I will let you live" he commanded.

At the entrance to the cave Tera stood in a circle with Pek, Rekara and Fala. All has seen the same vision. Rekara looked to Tera "the coral can not be separated from Karak, we must take the power from him. We must scatter the Golden Sun to the ocean" to this Pek was aghast "no we can not do this the power will be lost forever" he complained. What choice did Tera have?

Tera's Choice

Tera thought things through "I'm not sure. The Golden sun is unique and wonderful and yet that is what makes it a danger to this planet in its current form. If not Karak...then the Empire, will seek to abuse it and turn it to their need." Tera thought "From my understanding the Golden sun is sad, but sees the need to disperse itself, to remove itself from being used as a threat against Sedrians. I cannot disagree with this. With no unified source, this planet can determine its own fate and not have the golden sun be used against the people that live here. I agree with Rekara. Without its dispersal, it can always be used by the next Karak."

Suddenly freed of the insidious grip, Lyla gasped for air through her breather, and struggled to avoid drowning instead. 'Thanks!' she rasped, her neck aching.

'It means nothing to us. Keep shooting Karak! Flank him! And rescue Odrion!' she answered Rynn frantically, resuming her swim and shoot routine. She fired, but the pain in her neck, the darkness descending in her eyes, and the dizziness in her head and tails all conspired to throw off her aim,

Final Battle

Both outsiders, Tera and Rekara, agreed that the Golden Sun should be scattered into the ocean. Expectantly they looked to Pek and Fala. Rekara no longer looked crazed and Fala communicated her agreement with a nod. All eyes turned to Pek. The son of the High Priest shook his whiskers "we can not lose the source of our power" he retorted but the young Sedrian did not possess the force of will to stand against the other three in their link "we can not let Karak or the Fish-killers take the Golden Sun either" he resigned himself. The coral heard the decision and suddenly the cave exploded with light. The reef scattered itself to the far seas and the oceans sang with the power of the Golden Sun. The darkness that had permeated the cave fell away and Tera felt her wounds heal.

No longer in a cave but a large dip in the ocean floor Karak was surrounded, attacks came from all sides and he suffered wound after wound. The dark priest turned his attention away from Lyla as the Twi'lek ran into the corner. A thrust of his hands and his dark power struck Chu-Shkar and Rynn as the water rippled and slammed into them. Both were thrown and spun in circles.

All the Rebels heard the coral reach out and touch their minds, then it fades to a constant - but much weaker - presence, at one with the planet.

In the ruins of the reef Karak held Odrion, his manic gleam faded. His power remained in his possession and he was still dangerous.

Final Battle

OOC Ranged attacks against Karak are -5 to hit as he is holding Odrion. Characters with Precise Shot can ignore this.

Karak's Force Grip has been released. Chu-Shkar and Rynn both take 10 damage from Force Slam and have been knocked Prone.

Tera has been healed.

Everyone can act.

"What the ..!?" yelped Klyn as the cavern suddenly vanished.

At first he thought about another attack from outside, but it became quickly obvious it wasn't an explosion as there was little to no debris but 'just' all the coral parts that had somehow flew in all direction.

'So all the cave was the Golden Sun?' he pondered, but he quickly went back to reality as their main antagonist was still at the same place.

Questions will have to wait until they were all safe... And thankfully there wasn't any troopers now that they were in the open.

Final Battle

To the end and without fear Karak stood against the Rebels. The Sedrian priest had harnessed the power of the Golden Sun and bent it to their will. The power filled him but his physical body still had its limitations. The harm caused to his flesh and bones from harpoon, axe and blaster overcame him, his eyes rolled and his arms went limp. Odrion kicked himself free as Karak’s arms loosened. Rekara rushed forward to him and offered the Rebel dignitary aid.

Pek and Fala looked to each other, Sedri was in their hands. They regarded each other with mutual respect as they began to debate the future.

Above the new crater a few Sedrians swam over to look down at the Rebels and the defeated Karak. Further away the wreck of the AT-AT Swimmer had sunk to the ocean bed; no Imperial Seatroopers were in sight or near it. The Sedrian city of Fitsay was without the Golden Sun to power its alien technology dark and quiet. Things would be forever changed for its inhabitants.

Final Battle

Lyla lowered her rifle, stunned to see the demise of Bishop Karak, fallen from power and fallen from grace, and now just fallen. 'Well, you got what you wanted,' she sighed, remembering Karak's minion's rabble-rousing when they'd first come into Fitsay, calling for the power of the high priests to be broken and the Golden Sun to be shared with the people, even if he'd only wished it for himself and the Imperials. 'Your lies came true. The Golden Sun is for everyone now.' she reflected on the irony. They'd saved the Golden Sun, the centre of the people's faith, technology, military, and political authority, at the cost of destroying any power it had and dispersing it across the seas... Perhaps it would be a good idea not to hang around too long while the Sedrians wondered about that.

She scanned her team, checking to see they were all present, alive, and well; though they'd taken some beatings, they were still conscious and able to move. Lyla in particular was on her last legs, and was looking forward to a long bacta bath to get her broken body back in shape. But there was still business to take care of yet.

'Make patrols for fish-killers! Don't let them sneak back into Fitsay!' she urged the watching Sedrians, reminding them of who their true enemy was before they got any ideas. Karak didn't seem to have any diehard supporters left, or at least none who'd admit to it.

She paddled over to Pek, Fala, and Tera, adding after her friend 'The Golden Sun's not gone. It's just all around you now.' she reminded the Sedrians, trying to give them a little hope and direction for the future. 'You'll find a way to use it again. The watching Sedrians responded to Lyla's call with replying barks and bellows. Some scattered to check on the safety of their undersea city whilst a couple of the warrior priests swam into the crater and restrained Karak with ropes.

Klyn, Rynn, Jason and Chu-Shkar make it safely back to the Alabak's Gold. The ship's sensor reading no longer detected the abnormal power levels or strange gravity wave readings. Getting off the planet should not cause any concern or difficulty now.

Fala and Pek accepted Tera and Lyla into their council. Also Mors Odrion and a much saner looking and smiling Rekara gathered with them. Mors Odrion nodded with Tera's words "I am willing to remain here on Sedri to serve as representative of the Alliance and to watch for further Imperial activity. However with the Golden Sun's power dissipated I see their interest waning."

"Fala and I will now serve as high priest jointly. We thank you all for your help and we would like to learn more of your Alliance and accept your offer" Pek replied to Odrion.

"My father will be imprisoned for his crimes and High Priest Cardo will be punished for his misguided deeds" Fala added.

Although the event had been cataclysmic the mood of the two young Sedrians was optimistic.

Seeing Karak being tied up, Lyla was embarrassed to realise he was still alive, having thought he'd been killed. Well, not killer her father made things easier with Fala.

She was a bit consternated to hear Odrion wanted to stay, after all that had happened to him. She got the desire to prevent Sedria was backsliding into Imperial clutches, but the planet now had little appeal for the Empire or the Alliance. Maybe he liked the sashimi? 'Sir, our orders were to recover you,' she noted, but "recover" was a very open-ended noun, 'Are you sure you wouldn't like to check in with Isis first?' She gave him an out, anyway.

Lyla was glad to see Rekara looking better, at least. Bringing her along had been unnecessary after all, but at least she'd been healed. 'And you, Rekara, what do want to do?'

Once there, he scanned the area searching for any power sources that might indicate an imperial presence still in the area. As he did, he saw the "swimmer".

Sending a com message, and making sure to use the translation algorithm he had found in the ships computer,  he asked, "What do we do with the Swimmer?"

Odrion's words raised another concern. 'If the surviving Imperial garrison can't or won't leave on their own, they could still cause trouble for the Sedrians. We might have to do something about them later.' "Later" being when they were healed, reinforced, and packing some major fire-power; it didn't have to be right now. It was a task for a dedicated Rebel army, she figured.

She offered an open hand and a hopeful smile to Pek and Fala. 'Good luck running this place. May the Golden Sun be with you.'

She looked to Tera to see if she had anything to add. Otherwise, Lyla was sore and exhausted and ready to get back to the ship.

Pek and Fala were both in high spirits considering the final outcome. It seemed that the communion between the Golden Sun, Pek, Fala, Rekara and Tera had left them all enlightened and uplifted.

Back on board the Gold, Lyla set up the videorecorder for Odrion, then left him alone to make his report in privacy, in case there was anything confidential or there were commendations for her and the team she'd rather be cool and act all surprised about. 'Will do, ambassador. And good luck. Don't get kidnapped again, yeah? We want to come back here for a holiday next time.' she tried to joke as she received the video-disk, then farewelled Odrion and Rekara, sincerely hoping they would be safe here alone. And where was he going to live on this water world? Eh, presumably he had something planned.

*

She surprised to hear Chu-Shkar speak for the first time, even if only through a translator. 'Hey, I can understand you! Yeah, let's do that. Show them we're watching them, that we're defending this world. We can always shoot-up whatever remains of the base.'

Afterward, walking through the ship, she peeled off the shredded remains of her wetsuit, hardly caring where or what she showed. She was just glad to be out of it after so long in the water. She stunk of sweat and salt, blood and blasters, and looked and felt like a mess. Standing in her bikini, her orange skin was mottled with bruises, cuts, scrapes, and burns, where she wasn't already bactaged up. She presented this grisly sight to Tera in the Sickbay, wincing at freshly disturbed wounds and aches. 'Well, doc? I can give you some stims to keep you going until it's time to leave. When we do leave this place, we have one of two ways to get you back to your old entertaining self." Tera smirked "You know I keep saying it, but you keep ignoring me. Stop getting yourself injured just so you can spend more time with me."

She nodded to Tera "Ok, so you can spend the trip home in the bacta tank, or I can use the Force to make you feel better. Both have benefits and drawbacks, but both will be effective in healing your wounds. I'm opting for the force personally. I would be putting you into a trance that will help your body repair itself. If you need to fight on short notice I can absorb some of your wounds and replace it with my energy, but since it's rather painful, I'd prefer to avoid that if possible."

It wasn't long before the Rebels were dry and their wounds starting to heal. The Alabak's Gold flew passed the wrecked AT-AT Swimmer and picked up any salvageable spare parts before leaving the ocean. The strange gravity waves that had hampered flight now absence Klyn and Rynn were able to fly over the location of the Imperial Garrison. They observed no activity in the air yet. The garrison was floundering but not destroyed, smoke trailed in columns off the remains. Sensors detected small power sources and movement.
