Strike Force: Shantipole

More Stormtroopers fell as Lyla and Klyn blasted them as they quickly retreated. Tera turned to the control panel for the blast door, ready to cut the Stormtroopers invasion of the Rebel base off. The blast door did not close at the simple push of a button, Tera needed to enter the access codes or override them.

OOC Tera roll a Use Computer check.

Hearing the call to retreat, the Ubese dashed back through the side door he'd came through not long before, and closed it. Doing his best close and lock the doors trapping the storm troopers inside.

OOC: Any way to remotely open the hangar forcefield and suck the air out?

08:56, Today: Rynn Culmar rolled 19 using 1d20+9.  Use computer.

Without the Rebels to hold them back the Stormtroopers began to take command of the hangar. Soon there was twenty-three Stormtroopers in the hangar and still more disembarking from the Imperial shuttle. Twelve of their comrades lay on the ground.

Neither Rynn and Tera were able to break the code and close the blast doors. With the Stormtroopers building in numbers they would have to be quick or they would be overrun and captured.

OOC Try again for Use Computer to break the code and seal the doors or run and leave them open, your choice.

Chu-Shkar's countdown 11 of 15.

Klyn reached the position of the two others and asked "what's taking you so long? close the damned doors!" Seeing they were apparently stuck he shoved one of them a,d started to work on the controls.

"I'm really starting to hate that place" he muttered as his fingers danced on the various buttons.
"To think it had begun so nicely..."

'Come on, come on, come on!' Lyla urged her team-mates, as if that could make the doors close any faster. There wasn't any other way than wishing and pushing for her to help get them closed. She'd given up trying to shoot the Stormtroopers; no use wasting shots on an endless supply of them. Instead, she focused on keeping them at bay, to give the others long enough to close and seal the doors.

OOC: There didn't seem much point shooting at this point.

A bit of pressure from the mounting number of Stormtroopers and some help from Klyn then the blast door sealed shut with a clank. Without the codes the Imperials would have to knock down the door or cut through it, both time consuming tasks.

The Rebels last glimpse of the hangar bay saw it overrun with Stormtroopers. The Imperial assault shuttle most likely carrying a contingent of upwards to eighty soldiers.

OOC Waiting to see if Rynn will keep trying the other blast door or run.

As the blast door finally closed in front of her, cutting off the charging Stormtroopers with heartbeats to spare, Lyla felt a rush of relief, mixed with painful frustration and dread. 'Damn it!' she spat, kicking the blast door. They'd already surrendered one part of the base, slashing their available options and losing one avenue of retreat. This felt less like a victory and more the first step on an inevitable path to defeat.

Then she remembered the layout of the hangar, and how Rynn had gone around to an adjoining room to flank them. 'Rynn!' she realised, sprinting off to rejoin and aid her team-mate. On the way, she frantically loaded a fresh power-pack into her rifle.

OOC: Let's join Rynn and try to get the other blast-door closed.

Chu-Shkar was keeping his attention focused on the data files. He needed to succeed, and was alert for the possibility of anyone trying to stop him. But he was hoping that he would be able to finish in time. This could be of vital importance to the Rebellion.

"C'mon C'mon C'mon." Rynn said, fingers tapping on the touchpad trying to seal the door. Once it was clear he couldn't get it he took off to link up with the other rebels.

"What about Rynn?" asked Klyn, still grinning from his success.

A short lived grin as the situation cleared itself.

"Once in a while, a nice smoothly run mission might be a good change, you know"
he commented as they rushed toward their ally's position.

'It never goes smooth!' Lyla retorted to Klyn as they hared around the base.

She caught up with Rynn, crestfallen to hear he couldn't get the door close. 'Klyn, Tera, can you do what you did to the other door?' Why the cruk this hangar had two blast doors she would never know.

The blast door stubbornly refused to close so Rynn fled before the growing army of Stormtroopers which had taken the hangar. Rynn ran through the base's recreational area. He passed through a normal door to reach the corridor where he met the others, the door looked very weak compared with the blast door.

Klyn went running toward the rec room, the room contained tables, chairs, a food dispenser and holo-Dejarik game. The blast door was wide open and inviting. The heavy footfall of many Imperial Stormtroopers was heard through it.

Lyla ran with Klyn and Tera, covering them with her rifle as they worked to shut the other blast door, desperate to keep the Imperials from storming the rest of the base. 'Another point in favour of a mole.' she cursed.

Heedless of the dangers Klyn and Tera ran through the rec room and into the face of the advancing Stormtroopers. Hails of the blasterfire scattered around them as they desperately closed the blast door. It was impossible that anyone could have completed the task without taking some injury, even a Jedi such as Tera was not invulnerable  to harm. A blast bolt hitting her as the blast door began to seal shut, the Stormtroopers rushing forward but not fast enough to prevent the Rebels buying Chu-Shkar a few moments longer to complete his task.

Near the other closed blast door the Rebels heard the groaning and buzzing of the door being tested as the Stormtroopers began to cut through it.

OOC Tera takes 15 damage.

Spraying a wild hail of blaster bolts from her DC-17m, Lyla fought to keep the Stormtroopers back, back long for Tera to close the door. It didn't stop one getting a lucky shot in, striking Tera. 'Tera!' As soon as the heavy door clunked closed, Lyla ran to catch her friend.

'That won't hold them forever.' she muttered as she heard the grinding. 'Let's clear these rooms for evacuees and resources, take what we can, destroy what we can't, and close the other blast doors. We can slow them down at least.'

Lyla hurried out the other door in the rec room, intending to see what lay behind.

OOC: Checking out room #4.

Chu-Shkar had set his bowcaster down next to the console and as the firing grew closes he made sure it was within arms reach. A few more seconds and the program would be finished. Hopefully there would be a few more seconds.

"Well" said Klyn panting as he tried to get his second wing
"That went better than I feared."

He paused to look at Tera "Nothing too bad I hope?"

But there was barely any pause as Lyla gave new orders.

"And where are those lifeboats you spoke about?"

'You might not get it.' Lyla warned. She could help treat Tera with her new assistance visor, but they didn't have the time. When did they ever? 'Let's just keep moving now, and deal with it later.'

She looked at Klyn momentarily confused, before realising 'That was Pollard. They're on the other side of the base. We need to make our way to them, they're our only way off now.'
