RTJ

Games run in this forum are solo or small-group games. The basics:

1. These games run in pre-build settings. The GM is terrible at world-building and isn't really interested in any. The GM is open to learning a new setting or two right now.

2. They presume a longer-term commitment on the part of the player. One game here has been going on for nearly 15 years!!

3. The plotlines are always published adventures. If you want him to run a sandbox, suggest a pre-written, published sandbox campaign. If you don't mind something more plot-driven, there are lots of options to choose from.

4. GM posting is regularly on Wednesdays and Fridays, with occasional weekend posts and occasional other posts depending on the player's posting speed. The more the player posts, the faster we move, as a rule.

5. They're in a game system the GM likes running.  Available options right now: 13th Age, Pathfinder 2nd edition (NOT 1st edition), Modiphius 2d20 systems, Cypher System and maybe Shadowrun 3rd edition (with special conditions--feel free to ask).

And two key pre-requisites:

6. Players have to be willing to really understand the rules of the game system we're playing in. The GM is not going to spoon-feed you game mechanics; if you don't want to or can't learn the mechanics of the system you're playing with, don't join.

7. Players have to have a reasonable mastery of English but not be looking for a joint fiction exercise. The GM is expert with the English language but (this post notwithstanding) not prone to writing more than a paragraph or two at a time. If you're not good with grammar, this is not the game for you; if you love writing long, elaborate posts, this is also not the game for you.

For your RTJ:
  1. Share your RPG background.
  2. Tell me about your two favorite RPG campaigns ever.
  3. Tell me whether you're interested in a solo or two-person campaign.
  4. Specify which game system you are interested in playing.
  5. Specify the game setting you're interested in (which doesn't have to be from the same game system) and suggest a published campaign that the GM could run for you in that setting.
  6. Describe your character concept--background and personality primarily, with mechanical build elements (class/archetype) as a footnote if you like.  DO NOT submit a full character sheet.

People who don't follow these RTJ instructions won't get accepted. Please follow instructions :-)
