Black Tide: Back to Heldenburg
The next few minutes are spent much in the same way they had been going the few before that, crew scrambling to get the ship ready, passengers making themselves accustomed to the ship. The bow of the sports no figurehead though it does narrow considerably the father forward you go, giving the impression that the vessel will cut cleanly and swiftly through the water. The main mast has a taut rope ladder leading up to the crow's nest which itself is only big enough to support two people at a time with a little standing room in between them.
Down below deck, Solomon first encounters the living area at the bottom of the stairs leading below deck, triple stacked hammocks lining the walls haphazardly. A door at the back of the room leads to a small hallway with four rooms, two on each side, presumedly where passengers sleep. Through another door at the end of the hallway, the cargo hold opens up and lets light in through the grate in the deck of the ship. Cho'kobo is pacing a few feet back and forth, obviously not used to the confined spaces though he seems to calm down a bit at the sight of Solomon. Since the Leaking Lifeboat just offloaded their cargo, there are only a handful of crates left aboard giving the axebeak enough room to walk around and there is a pile of hay in one corner to provide him with a place to sleep.
Back up top, those on deck see that the stern of the ship has a staircase on either side of a large wooden double door that leads into the captain's quarters while the stairs themselves lead up to the bridge of the vessel where Captain Broadarm has taken up residence at the moment, looking between a compass and a silver pocket watch while watching the crew finish their preparations. Snapping the pocket watch shut, he calls down to Temnir, "When's this acquaintance o' yers gettin 'ere? The crew looking t' be ready t' be off in no more than fifteen minutes."
Looking back over the railing at the town, Temnir seems to perk up and turn back to the captain, "Speak of the devil captain, here he comes." Temnir closes his eyes, says a quick incantation and mutters a quick sentence into the message spell. For anyone looking, a rather nondescript man wearing simple clothes under a chain shirt looks around a little startled and turns his head to look directly at the ship and, spying Temnir, quickens his pace and heads in the group's direction. "And here I was thinking yet another hopeful had decided to run away, tail in-between their legs. Welcome aboard Renard."
