Emerging onto the landing, seeing the mammoth behemoth spouting of Russian and hefting CARS to huck at them, Vos immediately set up a zig-zag pattern.  They had men down; she had to get them clear.  Weaving, she ran to the closest and checked their vital signs. If they were alive, she'd scoop them up and run them clear.  If not... she'd move on to the next, sadly.

"Eto ne yavlyayetsya ne igroy Borisa ! Vy nakhodites' v na eto seychas!" she shouted at the towering Russian monolith.

   Onyx immediately began moving in a zig-zagging pattern through the air, his fists beginning to charge with dark energy, "You ruskies don't know when to quit!  Y'all picked the wrong folks ta mess wit dis time, sucka!"

   Onyx made sure he stayed a safe distance away, circling around the big Russian's back side, attempting to either draw his attention away and expose his back, or position himself behind the villain himself.

OOC:  Evade.  Not sure how much I can move as well, but if possible, Onyx will try to circle around the big guy to get a back shot, or give every else one.

OOC:  Small dialogue snippets can go off on any turn, no?  That's how most games I'm in run it.

BTW, heroes, don't assume there's only this one guy b/c he's big & loud & gonna chuck a truck...

As Eddy exitted the subterranean compound, and saw the tank-man, he gave a snarl of delight and bounded towards the thing, leaping and bounding off various objects in a way that made his movements eratic and hard to predict.
init 36: evade.
With his 'Cat-like Reflexes' feat, Eddy is at -12 bonus to be hit this round, I believe


Streaking in under the slower man's defenses, he let his claws do the talking, tearing open the flesh of the behemoth; hopefully drawing first blood.
init 21: spend 2PP for second action:
- rolled 9 using 1d20 with rolls of 9. Attack the Red Sledge: +12 attk bonus.
- rolled 21 using 2d10+10 with rolls of 1,10. Damage.

Vosper zips out, weaving wildly past the much slower behemoth. She checks one of the fallen soldiers and finds him alive but unconscious, very obviously bruised and battered as if hit by a huge stone. She is able to heft him and carries him off the battlefield.

Poco jumps, rolls, and runs at the huge Russian, getting in under his guard. He is able to draw some blood but the Russian's skin seems to blunt much of the strength of the attack.

Onyx flies up and out of the ruined front of the building, looking to circle around behind the Russian tank-man.

Amaranth just tucks her head down and runs straight for him, extending a hand as she reaches the Russian.  Her hand looks extremely pale, a kind of clammy white that a zombie-movie director would kill to bring out on the screen.

Nightmare dashes to the enemy's left, circling to arrive just behind the behemoth. At the same time, he unleashes his ability to Cloud the Minds of those around him.

OOC: run around the behemoth while removing his presence from the awareness of those around him, do not know how many are in range, or how many are affected, so did not know how many dice to roll or how many power points to spend

Nightmare moves quickly by the brute to his left and is not even given a second glance. Amaranth wades in and reaches out with a strange-colored hand but the Russian is just able to step back, looking at her warily. The Russian looks over his shoulder momentarily to sight Vosper and Onyx then steps back out of the damaged front and raises the jeep in front of himself, balancing remarkably lightly on his toes and looking for the next attacker.

A moment later a Poco is struck in the shoulder with jarring force, followed by the sound of the gunshot that sounds like it came from the north (the base is built into the west side of the mountain). A few seconds after that Amaranth likewise is struck hard in the shoulder, this time the shot sounding as if it came from roughly northeast. The impact of the shots spins each around to face east and staggers them 5 feet forward.

OOC: Poco is hit for 17 damage, all of which goes into HP (failed Detect Danger) and Amaranth is hit for 12 damage, all of which goes into HP (also failed Detect Danger). The next batch of your inits is up. (Hit points adjusted, Poco please make a KO roll)

Action 16

When Amaranth step in between him and the Russian tank, the Inhuman knew he need to change position to attack his target. Without moving the Inhuman reached up to the ceiling above him and raised himself and flattened himself above the melee. As he did he abandoned his humanoid form and transformed into something more like a creature in a horror film.

It is clear why he is code named The Inhuman.

Pressed up in the ceiling he launched a blow with what looks like a mace like fist at Red Sledgehammer. The Inhuman's arm stretched out but his attack missed the massive Russian. His well planned attacked missed his target.

Eddy took the sniper shot hard in the shoulder, enough so that the pain and the confusion caused his next swipe at the enemy to be little more than a flail.


- rolled 41 using 1d100 with rolls of 41. 17% chance of KO

- rolled 17 using 1d20 with rolls of 17. Attack bonus +12.
- rolled 21 using 2d10+10 with rolls of 3,8. Damage.

The bullet slams into Amaranth's shoulder, twitching her arm back a little, coming out the other side with a small spray of flesh and some chips of bone, and gouges into the ground a few feet away from her.

She doesn't seem to notice, trying to tag the Sledgehammer again.

"Christ," Vosper breathed. "AGAIN with the snipers.  Can we, at some point, get our own team of snipers t'follow us about an' shoot everyone's bloody arse off?"

She said this to no one in particular.

Having rushed one guard to safety, she dashed out to get another, weaving in a defensive pattern and at full speed.  Hopefully no sniper would be able to get a bead on her.

(OOC: How many downed guards are there to clear?  Vos will get them out of the line of fire ASAP, but if it's a hopeless task - too many - she may shift to actually fighting back before the snipers kill everyone!)

Circling around the behemoth, Nightmare notes the projectiles pounding his teammates from a distance. Rather than chance being targeted by these men, who may be too far away to not see him, he strides to the north by northeast facing of the big red man and observes him.

   Onyx looked around quickly, but couldn't find the snipers location.

   So, he let loose with a well placed blast of raw energy at the big ruskie's center mass.

   Not wanting to draw too much attention to himself, he continued to back away into the air, trying to get more distance between himself and the snipers, looking for a building or tree to take cover behind, while still keeping a clear line of sight on the big guy.

   One shot from the sniper and Onyx could, quite possibly, die.

   "IIronic fa a guy day kin magnetize thangs ta die by a metal bullet, but, hey, nobody said bein' black in America was easy," Bruce murmured to himself.

OOC:  Failed detect (as most detects do).  Fire Powerblast. Probably hit. Damage: 13 points.

Rolls:

21:12, Today: Onyx rolled 13 using 1d20+1 with rolls of 12. Powerblast (dam).

The Inhuman sends a massive fist shooting out towards the huge Russian but mis-times his strike as the villain moves back from the opening. His fist smashes into the wall, collapsing another portion of the front of the building.

Oscillator tries to pinpoint the location of the shooter, but being inside the building the echoes do not allow him to narrow down the location any further than northeast. He flies out of the building in an erratic path, going up and towards the northeast.

Vosper grabs another downed soldier, this one with a single bullet wound. He is breathing but again unconscious and she rushes him to safety.

Nightmare moves and gets a good look at the behemoth, trying to detect any flaw that could be exploited by his companions. For himself he is able to grasp enough of a pattern to the movements that he should have an easier time tagging him with an attack.

Amaranth tries again to touch the massive Russian with her strangely tinted hand but his movements and warding with the shield jeep keep her from making contact.

Poco tries another massive slash, but between the dodging of the red giant and the shock of the bullet wound his attack goes wide.

Onyx zips around in an erratic manner, getting himself in a good position and slipping a blast of energy past the shielding jeep and the Russian's dodging. Most of the energy seems to be taken up with little effect, the remaining amount seeming about as annoying as a bee sting.

Barely stung by the energy blast Red Sledgehammer looks over the other combatants. The big amorphous thing is at distance and the cat-man is jumping, dipping, and dodging like no-one's business. That leaves the pale woman with the strange colored hand which stands before him brazenly. He punches out with his massive, knobbed right fist and catches her squarely. Even rolling with the blow as best she can it is obvious she took a massive blow although it doesn't seem to register on her face. The impact of his fist sends her first flying then tumbling to the north, coming to rest about 50 feet away.

A few moments later a shot rings out from far to the south, catching Onyx squarely in the side and spinning him around in the air. Anyone who looks in the direction of the shot is barely able to see a cowled figure appear at a long distance from the fray.

OOC: Amaranth is punched for 24 damage, 10 of which is rolled into power (-10 power) and the remaining 14 points into hit points (-14 hp). The massive blow knocks her back 11" (14 damage -3 for Basic Hits), dealing another 2 points of damage which easily rolls into power since she is sent tumbling instead of into a wall. Onyx is shot for 11 damage, all of which goes into hit points (-11 hp). Power and hit points adjusted for both.

Using his own elastic properties, the Inhuman flies at the Russian at a fantastic speed as he delivers a massive blow with his own maul like fist.

Oscillator likely spotted the sniper & moves in.

He decides to give the guy/gal a lift -- say 100" upwards, with a hefty shake to drop any gear....?

Oscillator spots the sniper across the long distance and flies at speed to him. He attempts to tackle the sniper in an effort to take him for a ride but passes right through him. He recognizes the sniper who waves at him as he passes through.

The Inhuman shifts his form to move outside and confront the Russian behemoth, swinging a mace-shaped fist at him. The Russian interposes the jeep between them, catching the blow on it squarely. The strength of the blow smashes the front of the jeep; causing the hood, bumper, and engine to drop to the ground in a tangled mess. The Russian looks at the mangled jeep and smiles, then takes a quick look around the area before meeting The Inhuman's eyes; "Khorosho, teper davayte tantsevat!"

Depositing the second injured soldier she'd rescued to safety, Vosper glanced back.  This wasn't looking good.  The giant Sta-Puf Muldoon was going head-to-head with Captain Commie, but there were snipers out there and they were making a bloody mess of her team.

Osc had called the ball to rescue the downed troops, and she was good at that, but it didn't make sense to do so while the rest of them were getting cut to pieces.  There were four more left, and that was about twice as many as she figured she had time for.

Sorry, lads, she thought, hoping they could hold out until the fight was over - and that they didn't get a truck dropped on them where they lay.

"Get those bloody snipers!"
she called to Osc and Onyx.  Then, blurring forward, she ran towards the towering Russian, replying, "Vy vse khochu tantsevat'. No u vas yest' dve levykh nogi, durak."

Vos was moving to get the soldiery out of harms way; and maybe Ossy and Onyx were moving to find and remove the snipers.

With The Inhuman, it was Eddy's job to drop this tank.

But with the snipers still in position, Eddy wasn't taking any chances.
He moved quickly and evasively to make himself a harder target.

Dialogue only

Muldoon knew that as the Inhuman he could take a beating, he knew that that sniper out there could take out his team if they could not take him out. That meant that the Inhuman needed to keep the Russian Tank busy and free the others enough to find and kill the sniper. "This ain't the Bolshoi Ivan .." The Inhuman replied pronouncing the name in the Russian style. ".. you might end up with more than sore feet."

Vosper zig-zags towards the towering Russian at speed, taunting him and causing him to glance over in her direction for a moment.

Poco continues to dip and dodge, moving erratically while trying to position himself to attack the red menace.

The Inhuman likewise taunts the giant, causing him to grin widely but that grin is not matched in his eyes.

Away from the main battle, the unknown sniper who Oscillator has now recognized as Shroud, raises his rifle and takes a shot at Oscillator but it goes wide with his erratic flight. Shrugging, Shroud waves at Oscillator then vanishes from his sight.

OOC: The next group is up for actions. Everyone involved in the main battle make a Int save with a -4 to the target number because of being engaged in combat. Oscillator you can make an Int save with no penalty.

   Onyx, again, begins zig zagging in an attempt to making himself more difficult to actually hit. He also looked for cover.

   Though it didnt seem to help with the sniper.

Eddy launched at the big Russian's face and throat as the man turned to track Vosper ... a snarling, leaping slash that concluded with Eddy coming to his feet from a combat roll sever al meters away.

Failing to find any unusual handles by which the big red man could be brought down, and continuing to assume this was the main objective, Nightmare backs off ten yards, pulls his shotgun and attempts to shoot the Red Sledgehammer in the back of the head.

Vosper zig-zags across the distance and goes into a spin, launching a dart at high velocity which the Russian is able to catch on his jeep-shield although it punches in deeply.

Poco looks to take advantage of the momentary distraction and leaps past the man, slashing at him with his claws. He as able to get the jeep in position at the last second and Poco's claws tear out several large pieces of metal.

Nightmare positions himself for a shot, being unseen by the villain. As he aims and squeezes the trigger the Russian seems to notice something at the last moment. He jerks his head just out of the line of fire and the shot goes over his head.

Onyx looks around to try and spot the sniper and sets himself to flying in erratic patterns to try and throw off anyone's aim.

Red Sledgehammer steps back and slightly sideways to get his back to the wall of the building, working to keep the group at his front and flanks. He stays up on his toes and brings the jeep-shield into blocking position once more. His voice booms out with extreme volume; "Savan, koshka i zhenshchina ne budet stoyat na meste , zamedlit ikh!"

Several people spot Shroud far north of the battle and Oscillator zooms across the distance, taunting the villain and trying to fly through him but the speed and distance travelled affect his aim and he passes to Shroud's left.

Shroud looks back at Oscillator for a moment and smirks then raises his rifle and sights in on Poco. He sends his shot which strikes Poco squarely but is stopped by the vest. An instant later Shroud vanishes again...

OOC: Poco takes 10 damage from a rifle shot, all 10 of which is rolled into power (updated power score). The next group of people is go. Also, everyone to please repeat the Int saves at -4 for anyone concentrating on Big Red and at normal for those who are seeking Shroud.

Amaranth rolls from the Sledgehammer's blow and comes up standing.  Her left ankle twists off an odd angle, leaving her standing on the side of the foot, and her chest is noticeably caved in from the blow, and there's still that hole in her shoulder.

Nevertheless, she runs straight back towards the Sledgehammer.

   "There's dat sucka!" Onyx blurted, pointing out the Shrouds new location.

   He zipped through the air towards the villain, his hands again filling with energy- but this time it was a more prismatic, glowing light, not the raw energy Bruce usually threw around.

   Pulling up behind a little bit of cover, but still well in range, Onyx said: "If I kin see ya, I kin shoot ya!" letting loose with a beam of what looked like solid light.

   The blast was bright, strong, and on target...

OOC: Damage: 4 points :/ 16 10 points!  :). Take that, Evil!

Nightmare moves to the wall, a few yards from big red, grim and quiet, he pulls his pistol, and sights on the big guy's head once again before gently squeezing the trigger.

OOC: again trying to pop the guy in the head, with a bit more accurate weapon, +13 to hit (not counting facing mods)

Amaranth returns to the melee, swiping at the huge Russian again with that strange hand but he is able to remarkably nimbly sidestep at the last moment.

The Inhuman punches out with his mace-hand again, the behemoth interposing the jeep-shield and deflecting most of the blow. More chunks of the jeep fall to the ground and the Russian shrugs off the remaining force of the blow.

Vosper again whirls at high velocity, ripping off another dart throw. This time the dart punches right through the jeep-shield but bounces off the massive foe's chest.

Nightmare attempts again to shoot at the Russian's head, this time with his pistol. Again however his aim is off just enough to cause the shot to go high.

Poco attempts to tear into the big red man but again he is able to bring the jeep-shield into position. Poco's blow is hard enough however to tear apart the remnants of the jeep which scatter all around. The claws do rake across the Russian's flesh but this time only elicit a grunt as the man rolls with the remaining energy.

Onyx spots Shroud about 750 feet south-southeast of the battle and flies to engage him. As he nears he sends a bright beam of light lancing across which strikes the cloaked figure squarely. Something glows momentarily beneath the cloak and Onyx hears the dark man grunt in anger.

Red Sledgehammer sends a huge fist at The Inhuman, on target despite his movements but as it strikes his flesh it gives then deflects the force of the blow aside leaving him unharmed. The Russian curses and grits his teeth at the elusiveness of even a foe as big as himself.

OOC: All power scores updated as needed. Oscillator is up then Shroud and Amaranth before the turn ends.

Shroud glares at Onyx for a moment, lowering his rifle. He calls out in unaccented English; "Now you see me, now you don't!" and winks out of sight.

Vosper continues to zig and zag, trying to make herself a difficult target. She spins up and releases a dart at the big Russian but it goes wide, impacting the wall behind him.

Poco looks to time his attack with the behemoth's dodging and comes in hard, slashing with his claws. He connects solidly and is able to draw some blood, causing the Russian's eyes to narrow in anger. The skin of the large man again appears to take much of the blow before opening.

Moments later a shot rings out from behind the main group and away to Onyx's left not far from him. The shot strikes The Inhuman but he is able to roll with much of it, grunting a bit from the impact. A breath later another shot rings out, seemingly from the same location and strikes Vosper despite her weaving and dodging. The shot hits hard but she remains standing.

OOC: The Inhuman is shot once for 16 damage, 4 are absorbed by SR, 8 are rolled into power (-8 power), and the remaining 4 points come off his hit points (-4 hp). Vosper is likewise shot once for 14 damage, 5 of which are rolled into power (-5 power), with the remaining 9 points going into hit points (-9 hp). HP and Power scores updated, the next group of player attacks are up. People who are not focusing on the combat with Red Sledgehammer can make Detect Hidden rolls (no need for Detect Danger, you all know it is out there).

As usual, Vosper was proving entirely ineffectual in combat.  First her dart went wide, then - despite her high-speed dodging - she got nailed by the sniper.  It hit her like a freight train, a spray of blood erupting from her shattered shoulder, and sent her tumbling 30 feet through the air like a rag doll.

"Someone... nail... that bloody SNIPER!" she snarled between clenched teeth.

Almost everything Vosper said went by without his notice, but the word 'sniper' got through. Nightmare moves away from the battle with Red Sledgehammer, heading directly away from the big Russian. Once he's made it about fifty feet, he faces away from the group, and let's loose the weight of his soul. The heaviness of waking and knowing that everything you've built in your life is wrecked on a mountainside half a world from anyone that cares. The despair of being surrounded when nobody's there. The soul-sucking doubts when you imagine the Creator you have served faithfully has no time to notice your plight.
He pulls the threads from his soul as palpable things and casts them out.

OOC: move away from Red Sledgehammer and face away from the crowd to minimize collateral effects, use Emotion Control, PR = 8 used

Nightmare sends out the power of his will, seeking the mind of Shroud but it appears he is not closeby.

Amaranth's hand takes on the strange pale glow and she reaches out and touches the large Russian. The contact causes his eyes to go wide in surprise but he remains standing amidst the team.

Onyx starts an erratic flight pattern while he tries to locate the teleporting sniper Shroud but is unable to find him at this moment.

Poco slashes at Red Sledgehammer again and connects but the big Russian rolls with the blow and appears unharmed.

Red Sledgehammer tries to lash out at The Inhuman to clear him aside but his massive punch goes wide with the dodging of the rubbery hero. He growls in frustration at the hero's fancy footwork.

Another blow glances off of the Inhumans massive body.

The Inhuman maneuvers a few feet so that Red Sledgehammer has to choose whether to face him or Poco. As he does he slams his mace like fist into the Russian's face. Some how the massive Inhuman manages to connect again.

"The rest of you get the sniper. I got this one!" The Inhuman said. He figured Poco would stay and finish what he had started as well, but did not want to give the Russki the satisfaction of saying it.

Forcing herself back to her fleet, Vosper clutched her bloody wound and dashed back for cover.  She was useless in this fight, all she was doing was getting shot for no good effect.

Focusing her efforts, she concentrated on her injury and speeding up the healing process.

16:14, Today: Vosper rolled 46 using 1d100 with rolls of 46. Regen extra HP 20% chance. Of course not. Heal 1 HP.

Oscillator sets himself to weaving back and forth in his flight near the main battle, calling out his thoughts to the group.

The Inhuman connects solidly with a punch to the big Russian, and it definitely gets his attention but he accepts the impact without taking even a step back and prepares to return the favor.

Vosper zips around the main battle and into the cover of the outbuilding, still the best place to hole up despite a good part of the front being gone. She concentrates on trying to recover quicker.

From roughly the same area near Onyx he hears a trio of very muffled shots. The burst of fire is directed at The Inhuman's rear flank but go just wide, striking the wall past him. The burst causes 3 impact holes and also each hole briefly flares with a bright flame before it goes out.

Amaranth gives The Inhuman a doubtful look, shakes her head, and tries to make contact with the Sledgehammer again.  She does circle around to space herself away from Poco and Inhuman a little, giving the Sledgehammer, hopefully, a few too many angles to watch.

Nightmare murmurs, "That's one mobile sniper." as he jogs towards what he perceives as the area the shots came from. When he has about fifty yards distance on Red Sledgehammer, he casually fires another round at the big Russian's head. Unfortunately, he is much too casual about it.

   Onyx reached out, trying to sense the metal in the immediate area.

   The Shroud was using a sniper rifle.  The gun- the bullet- something had to be solid metal to fire.

    The multitude of metals surrounding him all sang their individual song.  The trace metals floating in the air, the ore kernels in the smallest rocks laying on the ground, the metal skeletons of the buildings and parking lots- they all sang their own individual songs.

   They were not the songs Onyx was listening for.

   They were the classical music, the pop rock stuff you heard all the time.  Bruce was looking for the boogie-woogie that bullets and guns sang.

    And then he heard it.

   His head snapped towards the direction The Shroud was located in, and Onyx zipped with range of his laser shot, his hand lighting up like two small suns.

   "I see you, Sucka!"

   Onyx let out another shot of hot, concentrated, pure light at the villain that was manipulating light himself.

   The blast was aimed at the central mass, and felt accurate.

OOC: Metal sense.  success.  fly within range.  Attack the Shroud with Light Control.  12 points of damage.

Nightmare heads in the direction the burst of rounds came from, firing a shot back at Red Sledgehammer's head but the shot goes high and wide.

Amaranth again reaches out with her ghostly pale hand and gently touches the big Russian. His brow furls in frustration as he tries to figure out why her slightest touch hurts as it does.

Onyx reaches out with his magnetic power and is able to get a bead on the sniper's rough location. The beam of light lances out and although it passes through apparently unhindered there is a shout of pain somewhere but nothing is seen.

Poco again moves in and slashes at the Soviet behemoth, striking him but not as solidly as he could. He does still draw some blood with his claws.

Red Sledgehammer growls angrily at being targetted by so many people. He looks over the 3 targets brawling with him and arrives at a decision. He sends a massive, knobbed fist out at Poco, looking to send him outside the battle area. The fist connects solidly, sending the cat-man tumbling straight back for a good distance.

OOC: Poco is punched for 33 damage, 10 of which are rolled into power (-10 power), and the remaining 23 come off his hit points (-23 hp). The force of the aptly-named Russian's blow sends Poco flying 19" (23 damage -4 for basic hits), dealing another 1 point of damage which is rolled into power since he is only sent tumbling (-1 power). Hit points and power adjusted as needed, Oscillator and The Inhuman are up then the turn ends.

When his Russian opponent decides to go after Poco, he is forced to show the Inhuman his back. A soldier, trained in hand to hand, and a barrel fool of dirty tricks, the Inhuman takes advantage of Red Sledgehammer blindside and delivers a missive blow with his mace like fist into the Russian's kidney.

He knew there was no time to play fair. The team was badly bloodied and he needed to put the massive Russian down.

After delivering his blow the Inhuman calls to his foe "Ivan! You will be pissing as red as Mao's Little Book." The Inhuman bellowed hoping to draw fire off the others by taunting his foes.

OOC Thankfully Poco was already knocked back and out of the way if the Inhuman can send Red Sledgehammer flying.

When Oscillator saw Poco get blown off his feet, he was concerned.  And afraid.
'What can I do against a powerhouse like that?' he wondered.

But out of the corner of his eye, he saw Onyx and the Shroud, thinking 'That battle is more suited to my power level.'

He flew at top speed towards Shroud and attempts to vibrate Shroud's gun into a piece of junk, also flanking.

Oscillator notices Onyx sending a blast of light through an empty area. He flies in that direction and sends vibrational energy towards what he thinks may be Shroud but does not appear to hit anything.

The Inhuman tries to get around to the big Russian's back but he is too close to the ruined wall and turns to face him. Instead of the kidney the massive blow hits Red Sledgehammer's side with enough force to cause immediate swelling and staggers him back into the wall. The behemoth roars in anger and sets himself solid on his feet again.

OOC: That's the end of the turn, power has been updated where needed.

Having scrabbled desperately for cover while her guts knitted back together from Shroud's sniper bullet, the young Brit shakes her head and tries to shrug off the overall feeling of helplessness and being out of her depth. She'd been an operative and a courier and a spy, but this... was outright warfare.  Her speed seemed futile in the face of uncanny invisible teleporting snipers who could shoot her at will, and a massive tank of a man that could lift jeeps for shields.

Taking a deep breath, she blew it out and prepared herself for another run. She'd be damned if she'd die hiding in a hole.

(OOC: Remain under cover for now. Set up an evasion, surprise!)

From back within the outbuilding Vosper moves back towards the battle, zipping back and forth as she comes. She waits to try and coordinate her 1st attack with a member of her group.

Getting up from the ground Poco decides to start using his animal dexterity to duck and dodge again as he contemplates his next action, not wanting to get tagged by another punch like that.

Squaring off against The Inhuman, Red Sledgehammer swings a massive fist at him and this time catches him squarely. The massive blow sends The Inhuman tumbling back about 20 feet. Grinning, the big Russian replies to The Inhuman's taunt with one of his own; "Vozmozhno, ya budu, no vy budete videt zvezdy i polosy navsegda!"

OOC: The Inhuman is punched for 35 damage; 4 of which is absorbed by his invulnerability, 7 is rolled into power (-7 power), and the remaining 24 comes off his hit points (-24). The massive blow sends The Inhuman tumbling back 4" (24 damage -20 basic hits) dealing another 7 points, 4 of which is absorbed by his invulnerability, and the remaining 3 points is rolled into power (-3 power). Hit points and power adjusted as needed, The Inhuman can make a KO roll vs. 24 damage. Nightmare, The Inhuman, Amaranth, and Onyx are up!

The rubbery form of The Inhuman rolls and tumbles back 20 feet, eventually coming to a halt. He lies still on the ground and the big Russian grins savagely, looking around for his next target.

OOC: The Inhuman has be KO'ed by the massive punch from Red Sledgehammer. He will get a chance to wake up at his 1st action next turn. Other people can use an action to give him a chance to wake up before that.

  Onyx takes another shot at the Shroud, but misses, distracted by one of the groups big toughies going down.

   Onyx began zig zagging again, trying to avoid getting tagged and taken out of the fight.

OOC:  and onyx joins the ranks of the terrible rollers. Honestly, as his player, I was overdue. :)

Vosper comes out from the building and sees The Inhuman tumble away and lay still. She whirls and throws a dart at the big Russian, striking him in the side of his behind and drawing blood.

Amaranth reaches out and touches the behemoth with her pale hand, and again the slight touch seems to have a dramatic effect on him.

Nightmare moves towards where he thinks Shroud may be, sending another shot towards Red Sledgehammer's head but it goes wide.

From seemingly out of empty air a brief muzzle flash and report happen, a bullet just deflected by Onyx's magnetic field. A breath later another shot rings out from the same area. This one strikes Oscillator solidly, drawing some blood even despite the bulletproof vest.

OOC: Oscillator is shot for 16 damage, 12 of which is rolled into power from the bulletproof vest (-12 power), and the remaining 4 go into hit points (-4 hp). Please make a KO roll vs. the 4 damage. Hit points and power adjusted as needed. Oscillator, Poco, and Vosper are up. (Just to forestall the inevitable question, yes Shroud is THAT damn good. Between level adjustment, accuracy, training, sniper rifle, and the bonus from Invisibility he still has good odds to hit)

Damn that bloody Sniper, Vosper cursed.  But she couldn't do anything about it now.  Hopefully Onyx and/or Osc could take him out.  She'd managed to put a dart into Sledgehammer's behind, but that was going to royally tick him off.  And anybody who could lay out a big sod like Muldoon's Inhuman form would probably turn her into a fine red mist - IF he connected.

Continuing to weave evasively, she dashed to the Inhuman and prodded him at super-speed with her foot whilst keeping an eye on Sledge.

"Wake up, Sergeant, we need you,"
she said forcefully, hoping he would recover.

When the shot hits him, Oscillator spits blood.  Vibrating, dodging, and STILL apparently an easy target for Shroud?!?!  Oscillator squeels "Ayeeeee!"  and falls to the ground

The only good part about getting shot was that now he has a plan.

Oscillator's HAART, his 'vibranium tuning fork' special weapon, thrumms in his hand, filtering the pulsing vibrations coursing through the ground.  Oscillator's holds his breath, eyes closed, as he reaches out with his senses to detect Shroud and he waits.

Oscillator vibrates down into the ground with his head just barely visible, waiting to see if he can spot where Shroud is shooting from.

Poco rushes back into the fray, slashing at the massive Russian with his claws and opening up another bloody cut but he is still standing.

Vosper zig-zags quickly over to where The Inhuman is laying. He is obviously alive but unconscious. She tries hard to rouse him but so far not a stir.

Seeing two targets in front of him Red Sledgehammer has a decision to make. The cat-man has been harrying him with vicious slashes with annoying regularity. The strange pale woman however unnerves him to some degree. With a mere touch, as if caressing a child, he feels as if his life force is being torn and that is a new sensation for him. He raises his massive fist and brings it smashing down on Amaranth like a pile-driver and that is the general effect. She is driven partway into the ground by the force of the blow. The part above ground is horribly mangled; blood everywhere, snapped bones sticking out throught the skin, and even some organs protruding. Red Sledgehammer raises his eyes back to Poco and growls himself in challenge, his fist covered in her blood.

OOC: Amaranth is *hammered* by Red Sledgehammer for 29 points, 4 of which roll into power (-4 power), 16 bring her hit points to zero (-16 hp), and the remaining 9 points are divided evenly between hit points and power (-4 hp, -5 power). She is most definitely unconscious. Hit points and power adjusted as needed. Nightmare and Onyx are up.

Nightmare moves around the periphery of the battle with Red Sledgehammer searching for the sniper. As he finds himself unable to find the sniper, he turns back just in time to see Red Sledgehammer smash Amaranth into the ground. His upper lip twitches on the left side of his mouth only, but other than that his face remains impassive as he points his pistol and fires, sighted directly between Red Sledgehammer's eyes.

Nightmare is unable to locate Shroud so while moving he takes another shot at the big Russian. This time the bullet strikes squarely between the behemoth's eyes. It bounces off his skull but not before drawing blood. The big guy shakes his head to clear his vision.

Onyx sends another bright lance of light out seeking the Russian sniper's flesh but this time it appears to hit nothing.

The sniper rifle barks again as Shroud sends a round at Onyx but again it is deflected by his magnetic field. The muzzle flash and momentary distortion of the air localize his position.

Taking advantage of delaying to see if he can spot Shroud, Oscillator sends a pair of blasts of energy sizzling towards where he believes the Russian is. The first appears to strike nothing while the second passes through a slightly different area, appearing diminished somehow after a certain point. A loud curse is heard from the distance.

Poco launches himself at Red Sledgehammer with a feral roar, his claws slashing into the Russian's head and drawing blood yet still the behemoth fights on.

OOC: And that's the turn.....power and hit points updated where needed. New inits coming up. (Vosper don't forget to regenerate between turns)

OOC: OK here we go again. Remember to locate Shroud requires a Detetc Hidden (an action) *unless* he gives himself away by firing in which case you have a general enough area to take a shot (albeit still w. penalties for invisibility since he is still invisible). Oh yeah, this is Vosper's first 4 action turn in a while....very nice but a power drain as well.

Vosper continues to dodge and weave as she again tries to awaken The Inhuman.

Nothing is heard from the invisible sniper, but everyone knows he is out there somewhere.

Poco slashes wildly at the big Russian but this time in his zeal he overestimates his strike and misses.

Vosper initially prods The Inhuman with her foot then sets herself to a little more careful 1st aid and this time the big rubber man stirs, speaking to her.

Onyx continues to weave back and forth in the air, trying to see if he can sense anything of Shroud and hoping to find him.

Nightmare moves out further, drawing his shotgun and trying to sense where the invisible sniper is located, waiting for an opportunity to act.

Suddenly, from about 20 feet behind Nightmare, is heard the boom of the sniper rifle and a round strikes Onyx but is fortunately absorbed by his vest although it definitely is going to leave a nice bruise. Onyx was able to sense the rifle at the last moment and was able to turn to avoid being hit in the back.

OOC: Onyx is hit by a bullet for 8 points of damage, all of which is rolled into power (-8 power). Nightmare you have a general idea of where Shroud is so you may use your held action to go before he moves (if he chooses to). Shroud is going to hold his action in 23 so Vosper and Poco can go. Power scores updated where needed.

Nightmare starts at the gunshot, spinning and moving in the direction he heard the shot, weaving as he moves to avoid any attacks.

Poco leaps back at Red Sledgehammer with a vicious slash across his face, leaving a group of bleeding slashes and the big Russian drops to the ground with a heavy thud, his eyes rolling back into his head.

Vosper adds insult to injury by burying a dart in the behemoth as he settles to the ground.

From right behind Poco a burst of shots goes off, just missing his head and exploding against the wall of the building in bursts of flame. He hears a curse from maybe 15 feet away then a soft pop and nothing after that. Everything is quiet and people feel after a few moments that the danger is over......for the time being. The only sounds are that of Amaranth's bones and flesh weaving itself back together.....a gruesome sound indeed.

OOC: Poco drops Red Sledgehammer with a nasty shot. Shroud attempted a parting headshot on Poco but missed (honestly anything BUT a 20 would have hit).

Eddy spins just in time to see the 'porting sniper disappear. He bid the bastard farewell with a snarl.

Then, he turned to look down at the big Russian thug. He stretched his head from side to side, and was rewarded with several cracks from his neck.  He shook his arms, as though to flick some of the tension from them, and licked the blood from his claws.

Then, he bent, and very tenderly lifted Amaranth, with no apparent effort.  Then, looking again out towards the environment, just to check that the Sniper wasn't still around, he strode off to carry the girl inside ... to the safety of the medical quarters.

The Inhuman gets back on his feet, not so much standing as reforming in a standing position. His arms stretch down and pick up the fallen Red Sledgehammer and lift him so that the Russian super is tightly bound up in the rubbery grip of the Inhuman.

"I've got him for now." The Inhuman said holding the Russian in his massive grip.

As Poco lifts Amaranth, it's undeniable that what he is carrying are her remains.  She's utterly and incontrovertibly dead.  Half-pulped, actually, in a state that doesn't even require checking her pulse to confirm her demise, and without getting into too much detail, makes picking her up difficult because she is 1) slippery and 2) tenuously connected in important places.  The hardest thing is getting her out from the hole Sledgehammer pounded her into without snapping her fully in half, given that her legs are only connected to her torso by a spine which is, itself, better described as shattered than broken.

But there is a rather disconcerting shifting going on inside as he carries her back inside.  By the bottom of the stairs, her skin is starting to pull itself back together, and Things slide and shift underneath it like eels in a swamp.  Her right eye - missing when he picked her up - is a pool of milky-white goop, which isn't necessarily an improvement in the short term but seems to be headed in the right direction.  Luckily, the eyelid regrows over it after a few moments.

Halfway down the hall, her leg twitches, as her broken ankle snaps back into place.  There's a shiver, followed by a violent convulsion that requires a change from gentle-carrying to actual grip before the spasm hurls her onto the floor.

By the time he reaches the doctors, she's almost completely intact and could be taken for adorably asleep.

Although it might be worrying that she not only doesn't snore, but still isn't breathing.

Eddy continued walking Amaranth ... past the medical wing, and towards her bedroom.  When he arrived, he carefully put the corpse into the bed, pulled the covers up gently, then left quietly.

Outside, he headed back towards the medical wing.  Figuring that Inhuman and the others were likely on their way down here, he asked the doctors to ready their most potent sedatives and anesthesics, enough to keep a rogue bull-elephant down.

Her own injuries regrowing at an impressive - although still slower than Amaranth's - rate, Vosper eyed the surrounding terrain warily.  "I don't trust that that bloody sniper's gone," she said.  "Going to scout about.  Call me if you need me."

With that, the speedster took off at what for her was a fast jog.  She made a sweep of the area, looking for any signs of their sniper and determined not to be taken by surprise.

The Inhuman headed inside with Red Sledgehammer bound tight in his arms. The Russian was so wrapped up in the Inhuman's grasp it would be hard for him to move much less escape.

Arriving as Poco ordered up the sedatives "The Russian needs to be interrogated before he we knock him out."

As people are moving around checking various places or heading into the building the sound of approaching helicopters is heard echoing and after a few moment a pair of Hueys are seen rapidly approaching from the southeast (the direction of the nearest military base).

Oscillator says, "I'll maintain a watch for the sniper."
And he flies upwards to get a downwards view / 'vib sense' of the scene.

But it seems Shroud has likely taken off ( or 'ported in the building, but he hoped not).

He kept watch for awhile...

OOC: Not sure if we are still rolling INIT, but Osc will hold action to absorb a shot.  And hopefully be able to shoot back at some point.

The Hueys approach low and rapidly, splitting off and touching down north and south of the outbuilding. As they do so 10 soldiers exit each one, most armed with assault rifles but two of each group with obvious sniper rifles. The snipers go prone in a cross formation with the remaining 16 soldiers position themselves strategically in any available cover where possible. The choppers dust off once the soldier exit and take up a wide circular patrol over the area, a soldier manning a mini-gun emplacement on each side of the choppers. One of the soldiers approaches any of the group remaining topside and is obviously the person in charge. He salutes then starts to speak; "We received the alarm a few minutes ago, scrambling the Hueys as quickly as we could from the base. It looks like we got here a touch too late. Commander Barnes wanted us here regardless. What is the status of the soldiers stationed on guard? Commander Barnes asked you all to contact him ASAP once you get below, we will secure the area up here. Two troop transports are on their way as well to assist."

OOC: For defeating and capturing Red Sledgehammer, driving off Shroud, securing the wounded soldiers and base, and overall RPing everyone receives enough XP to get to 2000 xp and attains 2nd level.

OOC: Also, Red Sledgehammer comes to pretty quickly after the battle ends. He does struggle against the rubbery restraint but subsides upon finding himself evenly matched. He grumbles under his breath then maintains a stony silence.

"All soldiers on-duty were taken out -- not sure of the casualty rate.  There's one enemy sniper left who may have left -- or not.  He's hard to spot."

Oscillator gave a description of Shroud and Sledgehammer (saying Big Red  was captured), then he flies towards HQ to find the team and pass on the info.

'Well, I guess that proves we need some more muscle on our team.  Or that the enemy has a lot more intel than we do...?', he thought.

After attempting to question Sledge, and getting nowhere, Eddy turned to the nearby medics, "Inhuman will hold this guy as long as necessary, but I'd like you to please hit him with those rhino sedatives. Make it strong enough to put him out cold, and steady enough to keep him that way".

Vos, as far as Eddy knew, was still upstairs on perimeter guard, as was Osc, Onyx and Nightmare.

Turning to a nearby soldier, Eddy commanded, "Get me Barnsie on the horn, pronto".  The superior officer would want an updated, pronto.

Eddy, right now, found the word 'pronto' to be the funnest word to use. So he was using it, even just in his head, as often as he could.

Those in the infirmary are pretty astonished when Amaranth walks in scant minutes later, completely intact and looking like she was never touched (it helped that she changed out of her bloodsoaked clothing and bulletproof vest). Even the medical staff with some knowledge of her are astonished by witnessing it firsthand. The soldiers are all in beds, amazingly none of them dead but all gravely injured. The soldiers that accompany some of you to the infirmary note that every one is accounted for an salute each of you in gratitude. It is obvious that they know at least some of the injured soldiers.

Despite different approaches to interrogation the big Russian remains as stubborn as his namesake, saying nothing but fixing all in the vicinity with a burning but impotent stare. The medics try in vain to inject Red Sledgehammer but every needle bends or breaks against his flesh. They confer among themselves and one of them goes and obtains a simple bottle of chloroform. Soaking a rag they hold it over the Russian's face. He holds his breath, even in spite of the pressure applied by The Inhuman, for an admirable amount of time before finally being forced to take a gasping breath. Eventually the fumes incapacitate the behemoth and he slumps in The Inhuman's grasp.

Topside the others do a perimeter search while the soldiers hold the base area, the 4 snipers covering the cardinal directions. The Hueys continue to circle and eventually the rumble of troop transports is heard and they appear in the distance. One of the choppers breaks away to follow the transports from above, each minigunner watchful. Eventually Nightmare, Onyx, Oscillator, and Vosper all come back together to compare notes. The only things that were found is a spot hundreds of feet away that looks like someone sat there for a time, as a cigaretter butt is found and the dirt and grass are disturbed. Onyx with his affinity to metal was able to locate 10 shell casings, most likely from Shroud's rifle, to have analyzed. No one gets any funny feelings and it is decided that Shroud left the area. After a few minutes the two transports arrive, a plethora of heavily-armed soldiers deploying and taking up positions in group all around the HQ area.

The head soldier's radio crackles into activity and the group hears that Poco is contacting Commander Barnes. The soldier advises the group to go down for debriefing as they have topside secure.

The soldier Poco commanded to contact Commander Barnes does so and his radio crackles into activity after a brief amount of time; "This is Commander Barnes, I have been informed that some of you are down here in the infirmary while others are topside. I have ordered the soldiers upstairs to send those topside down to the Situation Room. I would prefer to speak with all of you at the same time so if you would head there you can raise me via the communication console. I have a battalion of soldiers topside now with chopper recon, the area is secure as it can be. I will await your call once everyone is together." With those last words the communication is cut off with a click.

OOC: So if everyone would convene in the Situation/Ready Room thread I will proceed from there. Some people have done their level 2 adjustments and some have not. If there are questions please PM me. I updated everyone's power scores to full.

The Inhuman, seeing no way to secure the currently unconscious Red Hammer kept the Russian firm in his grip as he headed to the meeting.

Eddy looks up, as amazed as everyone else, at Amaranth's arrival.  But there may have been something else there, too.
And quickly, he pulled his eyes away, and went back to his business.

When the call to the Situation Room came, he held the door open for Amaranth and Inhuman, following them out.

Amaranth waves shyly, looking vaguely embarrassed about the whole thing, but she smiles when she sees the unconscious Sledgehammer.  "Oh, good.  You got him."
