Sorry about my absence the last couple weeks! My work had a major cyber attack incident. We are just getting our legs back under us and I tend to post from work and not home.

Heh! Search 'Arvia Christmas' for a small sample of what occurred. Wi-fi so bad they gave me my money back.

Catching up now.

Angus can try to outdraw Gilenkaar, so to speak, by rolling 2D and adding DEX.

Shukhunaar can take a shot at Lexi!

In reply to Shukhunaar (msg # 943):

I'm doing okay, I lost a friend and GM here, I was in 6 of his games.

Fellow Human Beings ... Fellow Gamers ... Friends ...

It is with a saddened heart that I inform you all of the passing of Robert Rusk -- better known to many of us as StarMaster.

Rob passed in his sleep on Thursday morning, July 6, 2023, at approximately 10:30am.  He had been hospitalized since early in the year due to complications concerning Cancer & associated surgeries.  He was 73 years old.

Rob was a Comics Fan Boy & fiction writer wannabe his whole life and came to Roleplaying in the Early Days of 1978.  It was my distinct pleasure to have met him, and gamed with him, since that time.

After his Retirement, Rob committed himself to the community he found in RPol, participating in over 20+ games, here.  He was an especial "softie" for GM-adopting abandoned games and working to keep them running, for the enjoyment of the Players.

He will be missed.

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

In reply to Angus McStubbin (msg # 945):

Hi everyone,

My condolences for the loss of your friend, the formidable Starmaster.

Personally, my health is doing better! My leg still hasn't healed but it's improved. I did have a friend and GM, active here on Rpol, "Steve Cable" aka "Stefan Cabral". He went quiet in his game because he passed away, alone. A friend who was in his city found him days later. He'd just gotten home from a stay in hospital from a leg infection as well, I believe. If anyone would like to check up on me, please don't hesitate to text me at (778) 848-5282. I promise my wife probably won't be jealous!

From a few days ago, a birthday dinner for Aunt Marion and a going away for my folks, who are now in the Galapagos islands. My twin brother John is taking the photo. I'm on the right, my daughter Gianna and wife Michelle are behind me. Dad and Mum on the left, Aunt Marion and Uncle Ken behind them.

Typically I post from work. However, the last few weeks have seen a bedbug problem that I've been tasked to deal with that is cropping up in different places. And a boss (who I like) who sends mixed signals ("do what you need to, cost is not object" and "do we we really need to bring in the canines for inspection? Very expensive!"). Very stressful. Also I need to take precautions not to spread them to my apartment. My poor 8-year old is worried about them but giving me tips about how to deal with them that she's seen on the internet. I don't have the heart to say we've been through this a few times already, she just didn't know.

When I'm not at work I've been finding I'm very busy (in a good way) with keeping up with an active social life on the weekends and a weekly sit-down virtual game mid-week. Most of us are actually in the same general area of Vancouver (plus Alabama and California) but online is just so convenient. Plus you don't need to clean your home!

Basically, we are at the final stage of the adventure. At this point the bad guys (who abandoned the expedition earlier to get reinforcements) have found the mothership. You need to find a way off this asteroid. Or else somehow deal with the bad guys.

Steve Cable was in one of StarMasters games as well. It was a shock when he passed. He was an awesome GM too. If you decide to run another game when this ends Tony, let me know! ;-) You're a good one too! I'm 62 and my health is beginning to angle down too, we're all in poor health here, except my wife, she's 70 and doing great, except for her mind. Schitzoeffective bi-polar, so she hears voices constsntly, they tried everything, nothing worked.

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

In reply to Angus McStubbin (msg # 949):

The Type-J Seeker (ICSSV Yuriy Gagarin, Angus' ship) normally has 4 crew in single-occupancy compartments. However, if the ship's Auxiliary Life Support System (ALSS) can handle it these cabins can be double, so you can carry 8 safely if cramped. Scout and military vessels can have triple-occupancy. The Seeker was converted from a Scout ship, although I would imagine the ALSS equipment would be downgraded w. Still, you could easily have 12 people but not for a duration of over a month without a mounting chance of failure.

If you'd like some measure of safety, the village where you were found also has 4 low berths. Only one was occupied (by Angus). Two were of Imperial design from decades earlier and obviously pulled from his ship. Two are of unfamiliar and possibly Sky Raider design. With some time and effort those could be moved to the Gagarin and installed, taking some load off the ALSS. Assuming they are all functional.

Otherwise, the ship seems to be operational save for the engines. (You have not checked radars and comms yet.) It will need to be fueled, although there is water available in some of the ancient modules.

You are too kind! I liked Steve's games, he ran a couple I was in. In the last one it was MGT and we were in transit. We decided we would all just let our PCs keep going in Jumpspace.

I haven't decided if or what game I'd like to run next. I've got a Twilight 2000 game that is on hiatus but looking to restart. I think all of my other games are nearing completion or at least an endpoint.

I also played in several games where Steve was player or GM. Including the MT one where we 'found' him dead mid-jump. And a zombie game where his character and mine got married! The GM there interpreted his demise in-game, my character received notification of his character's death.

As for your games, Tony, they've all been fun.

Note, the fire door opens inwards into the stairwell. If you are trying to bust through the other way, it is metal in a reinforced metal frame. It's possible but will probably take a few hits. (STR rolls.)
