Interlude - The Funeral of Baron Bluestone
For once the bustling seaport of Kallamehr lies quiet, the constant squawk of her bazaars and squares absent. The citizens of the city move as in a daze, seemingly robbed of their wits by the sudden death of their Baron - and the dark treachery that caused it. By their hundreds they gather in the streets in their mourning garb, young and old alike to watch the funeral procession of their ruler. To watch and weep.
The procession itself is a wonder to behold to the adventurers. In front of the funeral carriage march the familiar turbaned city guardsmen with Captain Jafar at their head. Their sashes and turbans are black now, dyed in mourning. With them to come other soldiers, dressed and armoured very differently. These men were clad in scale mail and their helms were wrapped around in blood red turbans. They looked strong and tough, a breed apart from the guardsmen. The scimitars they carried were weapons of war, not of ceremony and as they passed in grim order awed whispers broke out amongst the crowd: the Redhelms...
The City Council walked on foot, merchant princes and great aristocrats. The priests and priestesses of the city followed in their wake, their colourful robes marking their divine patron. Pride of place amongst them was a grizzled looking northener in golden chainmail, who looked more tavern brawler than prelate despite his order but who seemingly was Osric Drakesblade. Priest of Telak and the Baron's personal chaplain.
Finally there trailed a slight figure, little more than a boy clad in the black of mourning. Few other than Lady Carolina knew this to be Dappa, apprentice of Hammet the Dash.
Leaving the city by the Mehr Gate, the eastern most gate the procession walked to a shallow cove and the ship of northern design that lay waiting. Two centuries in the South the House of Rangor might be but they still burried their dead in Northern barbarian fashion. Today Lady Carolina would oversee such a funeral.
OOC: This is mostly an interlude scene but you may post reactions if you want.
All of you are considered to have had your wounds healed, either now or by the time the next scene starts. Mannath's skin condition has also being dealt with via the care of the court physcians.
Every gains 2 LUCK points for surviving the Tower and rescuing Lady Carolina. This cannot take you above your starting LUCK score - any excess is wasted.
