Campaign Information

The party finds themselves spread out in the city of Theranin in the Kingdom of Sardis, a kingdom in the north-western reaches of the world, there for various reasons during a time of a political power struggle. A new city council is to be established in the coming weeks and many politicians are doing everything, legal and otherwise, they can to assure their rise to power. It is Winter in 818 TA (Third Age). An age consists of 2500 years, this one being the third, means that recorded history has been around for 5,818 years.

The last major conflict among nations was that of the War of the Bishop, 40 years prior, when the influential and revolutionary Bishop Stanton was murdered by an assassin from the island nation of Rhu'ar. The war lasted 4 years but was terribly bloody and ended with the signing of the Six Points Agreement. There had been 6 nations involved in the struggle, 3 of them allying with Sardis and the remaining 1 with Rhu'ar.

Religion is something that many people embrace though the gods seem to take a lackadaisical attitude towards their followers, tending to allow their subordinates to grant spells and hear pleas for help rather than to interfere themselves. What are the woes of men which will be gone in a mere few thousand years compared to the problems gods face over a millennia?

As magic in the world thrives, the idea of tinkering with metal and wires is put aside. Innovations are made with leaps of magical prowess rather than gadgetry and science. The lamps that line the streets? Permanent light spells imbued with intellect to extinguish themselves during the daylight hours. Stoves? Copper rings imbued with heat metal spells triggerable by the user. These are but a trifle of the inventions modern magic has made possible.
