Re: A Game of Throws
The service was indeed slow. For a place as large as this, there were very few staff to be seen. In fact only a few of the tables were occupied at all.
Despite the lack of people, the casino's noise was still plenty and loud, even without the extra voices added to it. However, even through the cacophony, Vibro's keen aural senses pinpointed exactly what she was looking for. That, and more. The source came from another room adjacent to the central gambling area. She listened intently as she sipped lightly at her champagne, meandering through the lack of crowd.
Only meters away, Crossfire was feeling good about the flirtatious return from the woman he just spoke to. The gentle tussle of her hair could only mean that she was interested. He considered his opportunities as he combed the room with his eyes. So few people made it easy to spot the security. Large men of Native American decent stood vigil at various points throughout the room. Two stood vigil by the entrance, one each on either side of the room, and the occasional floater that moved between rooms. All had some indication of Mohican heritage about their person, whether a few feathers or beaded necklaces. The largest of them wore his long black hair in pigtails, Pippi Longstocking style.
Quiksit noticed the same Native American security as Crossfire. Outside of them, there didn't seem to be any sign of the unofficial regulators he was looking for. He did, however, get to see a patron vomit violently on the offensive carpet. One of the security officers from that side of the room was already strutting over to him.
OOC - Vibro got a crit with her perception. Any roll in the first 10% of your skill is a crit. There are levels to success and failure in this game. So with Vibro's 85%, if she rolled anything between 1 and 9, she'd have gotten that crit. Don't assume anything else is a success or failure though. On that same token, a 99-100% is a fumble.
Normally I'd write the outcome of Vibro's success in a PM to her. I want everyone to see how this will go, so here it is:
Crit on Perception. Heard the Blackwolf's name from a voice around the corner in an adjacent room. The crit allowed you to hear that he'll be overseeing the 'Buffet' in 5 minutes, and a guy named Barry would be his babysitter.
As for Crossfire and Quiksit, you'd get a PL that would look like this:
Crossfire - success on your perception. Though it was over your score, it was an easy check, therefore you get a bonus to spot them. The way your skill rolls work is, you roll the 1d100 without bonuses, unless I give you bonuses to add. The roll you get with the d100 would be checked against your skill. If you take out the +66 you rolled with, your roll would have been 89, which is over your score of 66. This is a fail in most cases, but because it was an easy roll and I gave a +30 to spot them, you got it.
Quiksit - failure on perception. Yours was harder to spot, so there was no bonus to see the ones you were looking for.
