Re: A Game of Throws

The guard never had a chance to accept QuikCal's continuous offer of fake blow. He had just opened his mouth to reply to Vibro when the muffled sound of a gunshot carried through the walls, taking everyone's attention within the suite.

Then everything seemed to happen at once.

Vibro went to grab the guard, who was already on immediate high alert and moving in reaction to the shot in the hall. QuikCal committed to squeezing off a burst of laser fire at the unassuming guard, but hadn't anticipated his partner going in for the attack as well and only just managed to divert the shot before giving her a new hole in the head, ultimately putting one in the ceiling instead. Chances were that, at that angle, he may have been able to take out the guard, but could have earned one less partner in the process. Were it Crossfire, he may have taken that chance.

Though QuikCal and Vibro both tried to ascertain the origin of the shot, it was only clear to Vibro. Even through the wall, the high caliber of the gun and trajectory of the bullet rang clear to her incredibly acute hearing. Crossfire had taken the shot, she knew. She may have been able to tell to what effect if another sound hadn't brought her senses back to her present dilemma. That small sound of whirring and humming under the guard's clothes became a massive cacophony of clicks and clanks as she witnessed the man's arms convulse and twist at various angles, the sleeves of his jacket ripping to give way to a wide collection of gun barrels and artillery launch tubes that Crossfire would be jealous of. He stepped easily away from Vibro, barely acknowledging her while the sounds continued and only ending when a thin plate of steel emerging from his chest and back slid out to cover the majority of his face like a crude helmet.

His hollow, metallic voice echoed from within as he looked quickly from both QuikCal to Vibro, only finally settling on Vibro. "Breach in the suite! Secure it!"

Then to QuikCal he said, "Nice try, but you're a shitty shot Cal. You missed her. You can check on the guys out there. I'll handle this little bitch."

The guards out in the hall were no longer talking. Both had their eyes trained on the now fully revealed Crossfire, who had just put a hole in the wall next to one of them. In unison, both pulled out what Crossfire knew to be fully automatics and trained them on him. It was a shame that first shot missed. His iron skin could take a beating, but two guns at once?

OOC- Sorry Quik, you couldn't hear where the shot came from and Vibro stepping in between you and the guard changed your plan somewhat with a pretty big negative modifier to hit. If you want to still take the shot through her to get to him, I'll change my post.
The guards are all on SR17. We'll call the last CA a surprise round. From now we'll go on R1, CA1, PP? (?). Anyone over SR17 can go. Vibro goes first in the suite. Crossfire and Quik, if you're under 17 let me know and I'll have the guards place some holes in you before you go.

Shouting to be heard over the gunfire Crossfire yelled to no one in particular "Lets get em boys" in an effort to confuse the enemy into thinking there was a full scale assault on in the corridor.

He squeezed off his trigger again but didn't achieve anything more than knocking some holes in the plaster beside the lead guards shoulder.

Vibro was less than ecstatic with the turn of events. There had been no mention of Robocop in the mission briefing, and considering her current state of exhaustion, that omission may well prove her downfall.

Considering her limited options, Vibro threw her trust to luck and hoped her partner had her covered.

Throwing up her arms to show she was unarmed and posed no threat Vibro stepped back and to the side to place Robocop between her and QuikCal, hoping to give QuikCal a clean headshot.

"Whoa there big boy, I think you got the wrong idea. Let's talk this over."

Hmmmmm, QuikCal thought to himself, not what I was hoping for.
"Fucking Yaks", he hissed and waited for a clean surprise shot to the back of the cyberguards head while pretending to try and be helpful.
"Capture her alive", he instructed the gun totting monster.

Re: A Game of Throws

Guards - Round 1, CA 1, PP? (?)

The two Tom Sellecks ducked the debris from Crossfire's success at redecorating the halls and raised up with their reply. They each let off a quick volley in succession at the interior designer at the end of the hall. It may have been Crossfire's words that caused them to backstep as they fired, but he couldn't know for sure.

Crossfire was in his element once again. Gunplay. Bullets ripping through the air and the smell of GPR and gyprock filling his nostrils. He could tell that these goons were nowhere near the level of expertise they needed to be to take down a Goddam war hero such as himself. Not a single bullet came near him, and he could be sure that they'd need more than a little luck to hit him, let alone damage him with those weapons, even with his failing camouflage.

Then again, with the amount of drywall dust filling the air, maybe there would be more advantage in damaging the walls. It was unlikely that the two Sellecks had X-Ray vision after all.

Between the sounds of gunfire and QuikCal's cools demeanor, Robocop's narrowed eyes relaxed and became amused. He looked Vibro up and down and lowered his face-plate to reveal a crooked smile, malice etched in his face. Vibro heard the gears wind down in the cannons.

"You got it Cal. Sure you don't wanna do this the hard way Sweetness? If not, talk. Tell your boys out there to stand down. They ain't got a chance. And before you start flappin' yer gums, get down on the floor with your hands on your head. I think I'll like you better on your knees."

OOC- CA2, same order. Sellecks missed Crossfire very poorly, so no need to evade. QuikCal's Influence roll was a success on Robocop, and yes Q, there was only ever 1 guard in the suite, Roboguard. So you get one shot here at the head. With a surprise, you can have the automatic CM (head shot) provided Vibro can keep him distracted (influence check to try if you're talking or moving or something like that) and you make your attack roll. If you miss, he know you're not to be trusted obviously. The difficulty here is that he only lowered the face plate, not the back, so no bonuses on the roll apart from the CM.

Squeezing off the next round more carefully this time Crossfire calmly said "Bang, you're dead punk".

This time the bullet viciously ripped a hole through the 2nd guards left arm, leaving it hanging by some tendons as his life pumped out of his brachial artery to stain the plaster dust on the floor a vivid crimson.

QuikCal gripping his "mobile phone" in his fist made a few tentative punching jabs towards Vibro, the second of which ended up with his fist in close proximity to Robocop's face.  A gentle squeeze, and the smell of burnt flesh told QuikCal that Robocop's days of winning beauty pageants were over.

Re: A Game of Throws

Guards - R1, CA2, PP? (?)

The look on Roboguard's face suggested that he just figured out that there was something amiss before QuikCal pulled the trigger. At the last moment, his eyes popped open and he flinched away from the phone-gun. Too late.

The flash of light and odd sound of energy discharge from the compact laser gun-phone hailed the disassociation from all pretence. Roboguard's head flung back with the impact of the blast, his hands covering it too late as he stumbled away. Yelling out in pain he let loose a myriad of blasts from one of his arms, spraying the suite with enough firepower to shake the entire suite like a small earthquake. Nearly everything was hit but the two intended within the room.

A blood-soaked and charred face turned an eye out to the room before the face mask rose to protect it once again. A strained metallic voice behind it rang out, "You fuckers are gonna pay!"

Crossfire's shot to one of the Tom Sellecks created a hole so large in his left arm that it was a wonder it was still attached. Some of it now decorated the wall behind him. It caused an anguished cry and a reply of more gunfire in Crossfire's direction. It was about that time that the building rumbled, though Crossfire couldn't be sure if that was because of anything but the bullets that connected with him. One to the head bounced roughly off while two others found his own left arm. Surprised at the pain it brought, he glanced down to find blood pouring out of his shoulder. One had actually made it through. A quick rotation told him that it was still functional, albeit painful.

Both of the Sellecks were nearly to the end of the hall, trying to get around the corner for cover.

OOC- Next CA. Roboguard is still up due to a low roll for damage, though it was close. And now he's pissed. The hall guards are retreating to get cover. Crossfire has one more shot before they find it.

Re: A Game of Throws

As a sniper specialist Crossfire was more than happy to see the range open up as the Sellecks ran for cover.

He took a final shot at the fresh guard just as both guards dived for shelter. The bullet found it's mark in his targets mouth and now both his opponents had their sex lives ruined.

Doing his best to confuse the enemy he shouted to his feigned squad "I'm hit, I'm falling back, take cover and hold fire till you get a clean shot with the rifle".

Crossfire then ducked back behind the corner and fled quickly towards the security room hoping to reach it before Corporal Carnage faded out - leaving just Vera behind.

Crossfire didn't notice that even as he turned to flee the guard he'd hit was falling to the floor like a poleaxed baby seal while blood and brains slowly dribbled down the wall behind.

Re: A Game of Throws

R1, CA3, PP? (?)

Crossfire couldn't hear the thump of a heavy body crashing to the worn carpet as he turned the corner and ran, leaving behind what he was sure might have been one less Selleck, and also his other two team members inside the room. His retreat was followed only by chunks of wall, strewn about by bullets that couldn't curve around to find their target. It was all left behind in a mad rush back to Vera.

After a grand display of divine exhibitionism, Roboguard was momentarily mesmerized by QuikAngel before getting charged by the Angel and Vibro both. The show didn't stop his quick reaction however. Both charges were sluggish and labored, leaving Roboguard an opportunity to easily sidestep around the charging angel and use his momentum to swing him to the very window for which the guard was intended. QuikAngel smashed head first into the window, but only his massive girth prevented him from falling the great distance to his death. The consolation prize was a mass of cuts and small pieces of glass stuck in the lizard's hide, followed by disorientation and pain.

"Go for a fly, Bitch!"

Just as quickly, Roboguard swung back around and lashed out with a heavy swipe of his arm at Vibro.

OOC- Next CA anyone who's got one. Quiksit, you've been hit with a CM called overextend, leaving you with no attacks for an entire round. Vibro, you can tell the swing is wide, so you don't have to parry, though if you do and get a success, you get a CM. Your choice. Keep track of your CA's. Crossfire and Quiksit are done, but I think Vibro might have one more, so Vibro may finish this round up.

Re: A Game of Throws

R1, CA3, PP0

Vibro's charge may have been sluggish and laboured, but seeing her friend's prized nostrils smash through the window quickly kicked her well trained muscles into survival mode.

Roboguard's swing was clumsy, optimised for mass damage as it was, the heavy arm swung towards Vibro almost in slow motion. She brought her left arm up in a perfectly timed shuto uchi, catching Roboguard's arm on the inside elbow joint.  With Vibro's hand acting as an opposing pivot point, Roboguard's swinging arm collapsed in on itself, the forearm's momemtum exagerated from the weight of the arsenel it was carrying.

Seeing Roboguard's arm jackknife in on itself, Vibro followed through with her right hand in a palm strike to the weaponry on the foream as she slipped her left hand free a fraction of a second before the arm completely folded over.

There was a barely audible click, out of place with either her left hand sliding out, or her right hand smashing in, and Vibro may have questioned whether she had imagined it completely, had it not been for Roboguard's sudden expression of fascinated terror as he suddenly found himself staring directly into the barrels of his own arsenel.  An arsenel that was suddenly erupting, a raging volcano spitting deadly hot lead ...

Vibro wasn't quite sure what to make of this sudden turn of events. She was having no luck with men lately.  Things seemed to be going so well with Cal until he turned out to have severe erectile dysfunction, and now roboguard appeared set to shoot his load into his own mouth at her first loving caress.

Re: A Game of Throws

It was at the very same moment that QuikCal turned around that he had his face smattered with shrapnel and warm liquid. For Vibro, the flash of light and repulsion of the blast nearly knocked her off her feet. With the cannon so close to the faceplate, that much energy ripping loose was bound to go both ways, and it was uncertain whether or not whatever she managed to trigger would actually penetrate Roboguard's protective headgear.

Until she found herself looking directly at a messy Cal through a smoldering hole in Roboguard's face, looking back at her.

Somehow Roboguard remained standing for those brief moments of recognition, barrel smoking almost as much as his head. Then all at once he crumpled to the floor with a massive array of clinks and clanks to announce his demise.

In that moment, Quiksit saw Vibro as the true killing machine.

Luckily for Crossfire, the elevator had not gone down yet, but as he reached it he realised that even if it was ready, it still wouldn't be fast enough. Without hesitation he made a course correction to the stairs. The door was right there, and he could probably make better time on foot. For one thing, he wouldn't have to stop for other people on various levels on the way down, thus saving lives. Seriously, the frustration of having to stop for every possible joker in transit was dangerous to anybody's health when Vera was at risk. He'd ruined enough sex lives today already.

Crossfire threw himself through the door and descended so fast it could have been considered controlled falling.

Re: A Game of Throws

The sight of a blood splattered QuikAngel silhouetted against the early morning light creeping in through the shattered window was lost on Vibro. The blast from Roboguard's arsenel at such short range had knocked her backwards but the sonic energy that accompanied it had washed over her, joyous, refreshing, rejuvenating. Vibro's skin tingled as she stood aglow in the rapture of the moment. QuikAngel may have interpretted Vibro's obvious joy as psychotic bloodlust, but the truth was somewhat different.

Vibro snapped out of her trance as the metallic body slumped to the floor and she noticed for the first time the mess that had been created. Despite the horrific scene she listened to what was occurring outside the room. It was disturbingly quiet.

Beyond the occasional involuntary mechanical twitch and whir, or the small shards of glass still falling off of the leathery hide of the massive lizard, it was disturbingly quiet but for the wind that now whipped in through the broken window.

While Quiksit pondered the excess of iron in the dead man's blood, Vibro reached out her auditory tentacles beyond the walls. She could hear various members of the Blackwolf family trying to keep quiet, though the sobs and quickened breathing were loud enough that she didn't need extraordinary hearing to pick it up. But that wasn't what she was after. The hall was almost clear of disruption, but for the infrequent footsteps and the distinct squeak of an opening door, followed by swift echoing steps that were gone a moment later. Other sounds eluded her, as they could have been anything, including guests in other rooms.

Vibro wondered what had happened to Crossfire and the two guards outside. There had certainly been a gunfight, but how many, if any of the combatants were still alive was unknown.  Eliminating the distant sounds, and acutely aware that her lizard friend's head was about to become a potential target, she concentrated hard on any sounds of life immediately beyond the door hoping she wasn't too late.

Re: A Game of Throws

It was a disaster in the hall. Before he found the guard with a hole in the head, he noticed the dust was still settling, the walls were chipped, and bullet casings littered the floor.

Cutting out the ambient noise, Vibro's hearing honed in like a radar catching movement. It was only a slight ruffle or shuffle, heavy breathing and a thundering heart. The next few sounds painted a clear picture for her. It was one man, just to the right if not down the hall a ways. After QuikCal's comment came quickened breathing, increased heart rate, movement, and then the telltale clicks and exhaling that Crossfire always made as he took quick aim, preparing to fire.

The stairs seemed to take forever. If he had any juice left, Crossfire would be flying. But he pressed on, floor by floor. Floor 8. It felt like he was making good time. Floor 6. Which turns did he need to make when he got to the bottom? Floor 4...

A keen eye watched the same screen that Carnage did, noticing the mayhem that just went down in the penthouse suite. Carnage would have been impressed with what Vibro managed, but seemed curious about about why his other half ran off like a little bitch after finally getting a kill shot. So enthralled by all the action was Carnage that he paid no heed to the man on the floor behind him...

...looking right through him. And the smile that crept up on his lips.
