Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

"Oh, not very many," Rarity assured her with a gentle hug, pulling her over with her hoof.

Even though she had her suspicions that Rainbow Dash was just as head-over-hooves as Applejack was, it wasn't a guaranteed fact. All of that was based on observation and conjecture... Which was, of course, the source of all kinds of juicy gossip. And this was the juiciest story that was going to come out of Ponyville for a long time! Well, a week at least.

"Well, though I always do have an ear open for the latest goings-on, those ears have, unfortunately, been cooped up inside the shop all week," she said, "I only hear what my costumers bring to me, and they are not always the most talkative sort. Even if I do have my suspicions that Rainbow Dash and Applejack are longing for one another..."

Way to go, Rarity.

"Did I say longing? I meant, well, longing to see one another!~ Because... Well, Rainbow is so busy with the weather team and her tricks while Applejack is very, very busy on the farm. Have you noticed how hard that pony works? Haha~ I'm sure that, you know, they will have a lovely reunion at the beginning of the contest, don't you think?"

Smiling, the pegasus let Rarity talk. It was good that one of her best friends felt so fondly for her. She was so glad she had wonderful friends like these.

Longing? she though as Rarity made a quick mess of their conversation to turn Fluttershy away from what she'd just said. "But..." She started, "Hasn't Rainbow been at Sweet Apple Acres for the past week?" She asked rightfully, "Recovering from her competition with Fung Shui?"

She had to admit, Fluttershy wasn't a super sleuth like Twilight or able to know things she just wasn't supposed to, like Pinkie... but something didn't seem right. Fluttershy knew all about hiding things and, much to her displeasure was she to admit it, lying. she'd spun tales around tails at times to get out of what scared her. Was Rarity trying to hide something from her?

Oh no! That isn't a way to think. I'm sure Rarity would never hide something from you unless it was important! She assured herself.

Rarity's eyes darted back and forth, her pupils getting teeny-tiny within the white of her eyes as a few trace dribbles of sweat made their way down from her mane. NO! She wouldn't ruin her complexion and mane from sweating! But, how could she avoid it? Fluttershy had caught her right in the middle of an outright lie that shamefully tried to cover up her gossip slip.

You're not going to weasel your way out of this one, Rarity! Not without needing a trip to the spa afterwards... Which wouldn't be a bad idea whatsoever...

"Oh, Fluttershy, you've caught me!" Rarity exclaimed, dramatically turning from her and putting her hoof over her face in shame, "I do have gossip, so much gossip! About Rainbow Dash and Applejack, but... I can't share it! I can't breach Applejack's trust... Oh, but I may have already! I don't want to lose her friendship, and I don't want to be a horrible friend, so I can't share it! I simply cannot! Despite how much I want to, because it's so juicy, Fluttershy! It makes me tingle just thinking about it! Oh, woe is me!"

Rarity released a few melodramatic dry sobs into her arm before gasping loudly and throwing herself around Fluttershy.

"You don't think I'm horrible, do you darling?"

The Doctor studied the fez, decided he loved it, realized that he still didn't have any money, and set it carefully on a mannequin before tiptoeing away. His ear piqued up as he heard a commotion outside, and he gave a quiet goodbye to Gusty and Rarity (who was in conversation, and so got a nod instead of an actual farewell) and went out to see what the commotion was.

The yellow pegasus mare was a little off guard for Rarity's breakdown but, as her friend threw herself on Fluttershy the pegasus gave a smile and pat Rarity's mane, careful not to get any hairs out of place, "Don't worry Rarity," she started with a warm smile, "I won't tell anypony. And I wouldn't want to force you to tell. After this all blows over, let's have another lovely spa run. you seem so tense after working so hard all week." Of course Fluttershy wouldn't force Rarity to tell. she'd always worked so hard on not being a gossip. Why should the yellow mare ruin it for her?

She looked out the window and realized, "Oh i better get back home. rainbow Dash won't know where to look for me if I'm not where I normally am. I also have to feed Hummingway and Angel and the othersbefore the contest starts." She gave Rarity another hug and excused herself, "I'll see you at the contest."

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

"The spa... Yes, that sounds wonderful... I could use a spa trip. Maybe two, ooh~" Rarity swooned, carefully detaching herself from the yellow mare as her head spun around a bit from her melodramatics. These things were a common occurrence for the fashionista, but maybe the stress of the week was getting to her? Thankfully, that mess from this morning was covered up and fixed, but that was no excuse for neglecting her dedication to personal beautification and maintenance!

"Yes!~ I will see you at the contest. Take care until then!" she said, hugging her best friend tightly before letting her go off to tend to her animals.

Speaking of which...

"Opalesence, my dear! Lunch time has arrived,"
she announced to her feline, hoping that the cat could hear her regardless of the corner of the house that she had chosen to nap. It wasn't much of a chore to prepare food for her pet when magic was involved. With a gentle trot into the kitchen, she lifted her food and water dish and took care of both, making sure that they were filled and prepared immaculately.

With that done, she swept her eyes over the shop one last time before adjusting her brilliantly designed sign to indicate that the Carousel Boutique was closed for the rest of the day. After that morning rush, there wouldn't likely be many more costumers anyway, not with the contest going on. Unfortunately, that also meant that most of the produce stands in town would likely be closed for the contest, meaning she wouldn't be able to get her grocery shopping done.

Tomorrow, for sure.

Before leaving, Rarity was sure to add a lovely hat to her current appearance. While she wasn't going to be the center of attention by any means, that didn't mean she couldn't be stunning and draw a few eyes her way as she watched. Today's chosen chapeau was one she had worn to the Wonderbolt's derby, pink with an exaggerated brim, a flower, and two feathers sticking out marvelously.

"All set! Oh, this is so exciting! So much romance blooming in the air," she told herself before leaving through the front door.

"And you have no time for any of it," she thought glumly.

"So wow, you managed to finish all those dresses for Princess Luna? That's amazing!" Loose Leaf gushed as they came up on Rarity's residence and place of business. She couldn't help but admire the unicorn's work ethic. After all, she too was an artist and her passion for fashion was something to behold. Perhaps even holding a candle to the time Loose Leaf's love of her art work. "I've been so busy with the Doctor's mural designs, and planing out some renovations for the shack, I've rarely gotten out this week to do much of anything either. You and I really need to get out more. We should like... plan to do something at least once a week so we both don't rot in our work."

Loose Leaf couldn't help but laugh even though it was painfully true. "So are you going to get to go to Canterlot and present the dresses? I mean I'm sure you've been there so many times already. I mean you've designed things for all sorts of famous ponies, I'm surprised you're not already a star! Or maybe you're just a star living the rural life for fun, hm? Though you've always told me about how much you wanted to be living in the spotlight. Don't really get too much of that around here."

With a flex of her magic, her front door opened just as the pair of mares made it to the Boutique. Getting it through the door would take a hint of maneuvering, a tilt to the left slightly~ No! The right~ She stopped her walk and concentrated a bit, focusing, eyes squinted, brow furrowed slightly.

"Easy now, Loose Leaf," Rarity cautioned, "We need to get this just right~ I'm going to lower the couch a bit, and when I say, push it through the door. Easy~ There we are! Just need to make a slight adjustment that way, no! Too much. Other way~ Yes... Perfect! Go ahead."

With all the trouble it was to get the couch back inside the Boutique, one had to wonder how it got out with such ease? More of the lovely mysteries of magic!

Loose Leaf couldn't help but roll her eyes a bit at how Rarity ignored their conversation so that she could direct and fawn over the specific location of the couch. Gently, Loose Leaf guided it down to the perfect spot. "Rarity, you're couch is fine. You can stop sweating."

Loose Leaf slapped the dirt off of her hooves and turned to the white unicorn with a big grin. She couldn't help but sneak a peek at the new interior of the shop. New clothes were put up, the pegasus line having dwindled significantly. Looks like Rarity had been getting some business. "Wow... what happened to all the clothes? You really been that busy?"

"Yes, well, so it is," Rarity remarked as the vessel was safely pushed through the door, finding a nice place out in her showroom, "Terribly sorry for being so quiet, I was just concentrating on getting it just right. Couches are surprisingly tricky to get into doorways. You'd think they would make them wider? Doors, I mean."

Coming back to focus on the conversation at hand, Rarity's concentration face lessened into a more cordial look, "Yes! They have really been selling, which has surprised me quite a bit, so it's been quite a bit of work actually manning the shop, not to mention finishing the Princesses' outfits, but I did it! I don't expect that I will be taking them to Canterlot myself, but I would love to, simply love to!"

Rarity's eyes glazed over for a moment, sparkles appearing and dazzling in her eyes as she thought about presenting the dresses to the Princesses. All eyes would be on her and her work, the crowds would ooo and aah as the pair walked out in the splendor of her creative majesty~ She really would be a star!~

"I wouldn't call myself a star. Famous, perhaps, but not in the spotlight. Oh, but if I were~"

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

Rarity returned the tight hug before waving her off, "Good luck, darling!"

With that said, she sighed and shut the door behind her. Her horn glowed as she returned the couch back to its usual position, ready for another fainting spell or dramatic outburst over something rather silly or minuscule. She couldn't help being theatrical, even when a situation didn't precisely call for it! Someone needed to add a little culture and melodrama to this town, and she was the pony for it.

The fashionista returned to the storeroom, marking glumly at how bare it was becoming. After Princess Luna showed off her dress at the Moon Raising, word had gotten around, and fashion-minded pegasi were flying in from Cloudsdale to look over her stock and take what they liked. Besides finishing her royal orders and designing the outfits for Twilight and Widget, she was hard at work advertising, adjusting, and selling her line. Only, there were no big-wigs from Canterlot, no pomp and circumstance~

Making a mental note to move some of her seasonal designs out in the showroom, she entered the kitchen, tummy rumbling quietly. All she really had that day was the apple from the Summersong stand, and that wasn't enough. A flex of her magic opened the door of the fridge, reminding her quickly that it was nearly bare. She had some milk, but that was pretty much what was left.

Instead, she started to leaf through her pantry to find something to curb her hunger for the evening. Sweetie Belle's favorite brand of cookies was snuggled in there, along with a half-eaten package of crackers that she used for entertaining.

"It will have to do," she said out load to herself as she brought the two items to the table. She prepared herself a glass of milk also and enacted the age-old ritual of lightly dunking the cookies into the milk, making sure not to get any drops on the table, before popping it into her mouth. The premiere fashionista of Ponyville was eating cookies and milk for dinner. Alone, in a big, empty boutique.

Well, there was Opalesence, but she was... Rather anti-social, all things considered.

She finished her meal and slowly walked upstairs, Shai's ruined outfit still on her back. On her way to her room to do some sewing and repair, she passed by the room Princess Luna had slept in. Pausing, she looked inside for quite some time. The bed was made~ Everything was immaculate. Empty.

"It was nice having a guest," she mused to herself as she entered her room, setting Shai's dress on the sewing machine in just the right way to repair the rip, "Someone to share dinner with and look after. Not to mention a Princess!~ Ah, I'll have to get those dresses ready to ship out tomorrow. Then grocery shopping. Then moving everything into the showroom..."

Rarity's eyes caught a look at herself in her mirror as she worked on sewing. Beyond the make-up and the careful washing and care of her skin and mane, she was looking warn down. Had she even gotten thinner? Maybe she -was- working too hard!

"Maybe I need a vacation~ I do have more than enough bits," she mused quietly to herself as she finished Shai's dress, "Just some time to get away. Find a hobby! Gardening? No! You are not that desperate, Rarity! Let's see... I already read quite a bit. Well, maybe not a hobby."

As she mused to herself out-loud, she began getting to work on restoring Shai's poor slippers. Magic was the key here, a spell or two that she learned to repair things that were seemingly beyond repair. Rarity was no magical prodigy by any stretch of the imagination, but she had learned enough to keep up with her work.

"I'll think of something," she sighed, lifting up her work to look it over, "Good as new! I should get these over, and perhaps make a spa appointment! They shouldn't be closed yet. Fluttershy did mention wanting to go!"

Rarity prepared herself for her last journey out for the evening by wrapping the dress and slippers up in one of her designer bags that she used for costumers and slipping on another hat to keep her warm. She turned the lights out and trotted out the door, heading first for the spa, then to Shai's to drop off her things.

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

=Start of Day 9=

Rarity was up rather early that morning. Well, earlier than what was usual for her. By the looks of things, the day was going to be quite busy, but with the arrival of Luna, one of the more complicated items on her list was delightfully crossed off! However, Luna's arrival to be her house guest once more was what had gotten her up. The Princess was feeling under-the-weather, and what better way to cheer her up than breakfast in bed!

Unfortunately, her lack of items in the kitchen made her tray of food rather underwhelming. She walked up the stairs carefully, magic holding the silver tray straight. On it was a bowl of cereal with a little bowl of milk to pour in on the side, half of an orange, juice from the other half of the orange (and the last from her carton), and a side of fried hay in a lovely little pile. Nothing worthy of royalty, but Rarity did hope it would be enough.

She pushed the door open with her back hoof slowly, hoping not to wake Luna too abruptly. Carefully, Rarity tiptoed to the bed and whispered into the Princess' ear.

"Princess Luna, your highness," she smiled, "Wake up, darling. I have breakfast in bed for you."

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

- Begin Day 9 -
Princess Luna had gone immediately to bed when she'd returned to Rarity's. Both exhausted and relaxed from Lotus's expert attentions, she fell asleep quickly, and slept deeply.

Hours later, as Rarity slipped into her room with a prepared breakfast, Luna didn't stir until  the other mare whispered gently to her.  Stretching her hooves, Luna yawned and opened her eyes - and smiled gently, as she saw Rarity at her bedside.

"Oh, Miss Rarity..." She smiled warmly, and sat up a little, as the fashionista brought in the tray. "Thank you..." With her new meal delivered, Luna looked  it over, before mixing the milk into the creal, and leaning down to sample it, eyes closed. "Mhm~ I did not realize how hungry I was." She leaned aside to Rarity, putting a hoof out to touch her shoulder, before turning her attention back to her food. She seemed to wake up  quite quickly a she continued to eat, clearly in a wonderful  mood, extremely surprised and pleased with the surprise breakfast.

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

"I'm just sorry that there isn't more, Princess," Rarity confessed, looking up to the regal mare as she started to wake up, "I need to head to the market today to stock up, but I couldn't help but do this for you, darling, seeing as you were feeling a hair under the weather. Why, nothing would cheer me up more than having my own breakfast brought to me in bed!"

The fashionista considered warning Luna not to get any crumbs or bits of food in the bed, but who was she to say such a thing to a Princess? Besides, this was a favor, and if any crumbs did happen to stray onto the sheets, the unicorn could always brush them off outside, or replace it, if it truly became a crumb disaster. She had one of those once... With Sweetie Belle.

Needless to say, graham crackers were never again allowed inside the Boutique.

"Well, I suppose I will just leave you to it, then, my dear!" Rarity said and turned to start making her way out.

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

The Princess smiled, and  as Rarity turned to leave, Luna's horn lit up and dragged the mare back to the bed where she was wrapped in an embrace of royal hooves. The gesture really was quite kind and wonderful, but perhaps this was more gratitude than Rarity had expected. Luna put Rarity down soon enough, though, and turned back to her breakfast in bed with a smile. "Thank you, again, Rarity. If you like, I'll come with you. I've nothing else planned, at yet..."

Luna wanted to avoid thinking about what happened earlier. She felt fine, now, and she didn't want to worry about how awful she had felt yesterday.  Hopefully, it as all over.

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

Rarity wasn't expecting to be pulled back so quickly, but her surprised little sound was soon quieted as she found herself wrapped up in those long, midnight hooves. A light blush crept onto her cheeks as a part of her felt suddenly faint. She was being hugged so tightly and affectionately, by royalty! Her head swooned softly before she was placed by down to the ground. A quick shaking of her head back and forth and an adjustment of her mane brought her back to her senses.

"You are very welcome!" she said with a nod, "And, well, I could never ask you to join me on something so... mundane, but if you would like to go, I would enjoy the company! You can set the tray aside when you are finished, and I'll tidy it up later. When you are all freshened up, meet me downstairs!"

With that, the fashionista waved her hoof and left the Princess alone to finish her meal. Rarity had some mundane morning chores that needed to be squared away before she left anyway. Getting the mail, feeding Opal her breakfast just the way she liked it, and picking the right saddlebag for the day's shopping trip. The last one would take a bit of time, seeing as though she had about a dozen.

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

Luna  ate her breakfast rather neatly, but eagerly, and she was soon up and out of bed. She did a bit of stretching, and stopped to examine her messy mane in a mirror. She borrowed a brush to tease out any tangles, then made her way down to the boutique proper. "Rarity? Are you ready...?" She paused, following her sounds - and came upon her sorting through saddlebags.

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

Rarity was down to deciding between two saddlebags by this point. There was her favorite staple, the one with the rather small pockets that was decorated with her cutie mark on either side in a pleasant brown, or the one with the large pockets that was littered with glitter and was done in all black. Both were held aloft in front of her, and she rubbed her chin gently with her hoof.

"Fashionable, with less space, or less fashionable, with more space," she considered, "Oh, why must things be so complicated! I typically wear this one, but the darker one would go so well walking next to the Princess. It would be... a sort of starry sky mood! Can you imagine how it would glitter next to that marvelous flowing mane? Ah, but I typically wear this one at night, for just that reason! This first one does go better with my coat, not to mention my cutie mark. Oh, woe is me-e-e! I'll never decide at this rate!"

It was at that point that she noticed the Princess was idling near the door. Rarity turned, blushing, and the dark saddlebag covered in glitter made its way onto her back, her magic securing it tightly about her waist as the other slowly returned to the closet that was clearly marked "Saddlebags."

"All set, let's go," she remarked quickly and made her way to the door, opening it with her hoof and bowing her head politely as she held it open for the Princess.

The princess raised her hoof to her lips, hiding a polite and gentle laugh. Rarity did have a serious obsession with looking good, but she was really good at it, too. Luna smiled at her selection. "That looks wonderful." Luna greed with Rarity's musing, and joined her down to the door. She walked through, then paused just beyond to wait. Luna fell into step on Rarity's left, following close. "Where to first?"

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

"I would hope it does! It's going to look sublime when I'm out and about with you," she commented and shut the door behind the two of them as Luna walked out. Her head craned back to check and make sure that the sign read 'Closed' in the window of the Boutique. She needed a day without attending costumers or being neck-deep in dresses and designs. The world could survive a few days without access to the work of Ponyville's premier fashionista!

"We'll start with the market. Groceries are the number one priority today! Feel free to mention what sorts of foods you like so that I can get the ingredients to prepare them, darling," Rarity said with a smile as she lead them both to the business district.

Luna cheerfully joined her companion on the way to the business district, thinking about what she'd like to eat. Her sweet tooth demanded some delicious chocolate, but she'd also need actual food. She did often have quite an appetite, too.

"What sort of food do you usually get?  I mean, what do you prefer?"

Re: Ponyville Business District - The Carousel Boutique

-> From The Whitetail Woods - Silverwood

Elegant dark wings fluttered above Ponyville's business district as the Princess of night passed over  the town. Like a fragment of night sky in the day, she hovered, then descended, her dive becoming a leisurely trot as she tucked her wings, and a small smile lingered on her face as the Ponyville residents acknowledged her with the welcoming manner they'd become more accustomed to since her Moon-Raising ceremony.

Her steady and content trot carried her to the door of Ponyville's one and only Carousel Boutique, home of the finest dressmaker in town, and fabled hero, Rarity.  Luna heard the soft strains of  music and  a pleasant tune from within - clearly her friend was 'in the zone, as it were' so she would say. Luna found herself lightly nodding to the beat she could hear through the wall, opting to wait for Rarity's inspiration to run its musical course before knocking upon the door.
