The Everfree Forest - Luna's Retreat

-=Luna's Retreat=-

Luna had this elegant estate built a short distance into the Everfree Forest. No further in than Zecora's home, though in a completely different direction, the relatively conservative manor lacks the ostentatious displays of a palace, befitting Luna's more relaxed and unofficial presence in Ponyville. A wall of stone as tall as the Princess herself encircles the estate, with two openings - a main entrance, to which a trail has slowly been worn over the past few months - and a rear gate with no discernible trail beyond it. Both entries are blocked most of the time by magically latched wrought iron gates. The wrought iron design extends above the walls all the way around the home, which is slightly raised on a hill in the center of the clearing (meaning that even those looking out the first floor windows can see above the external walls).

The grounds are well-tended - a bat-mare gardener named Cresia tends to the Lunar Garden - the grounds are full of moon-loving plants and the whole of the interior of the gardens light up under the moonlight. The manor itself is constructed of imported darkwood and stone, and even in the day the manor seems to drain the bright hues of sunlight, as if the light that falls upon it is always moonlight. The manor is two stories, with the entry foyer leading to a hall suitable for receiving important guests and for dining with as many as a dozen companions. A kitchen equipped to feed as many adjoins the chamber through a hallway. Also on the first floor is a fairly extravagant washroom suitable for relaxation as well as cleanliness, though fairly rudimentary compared to Ponyville's spa proper. The first floor is also home to the serving staff - the gardener, Cresia; Luna's off-duty guards, and the maid and butler.

The second floor has the master bedroom, two guest rooms, a library and lounge and a private, adjoining study. Above the study is a loft that rises as a parapet from the manor into a small third story, around which all trees have been cleared to permit a clear view of the sky. This tower is host to Luna's Astronomy equipment.

The interior lighting is magical - stars glow in lamp fixtures, lighting the paths one follows throughout the manor, though the lady of the estate can illuminate or snuff out any lights she wishes, regardless whether someone is coming or going.
