Don't know - I was waiting on Sanjar to revise an action from his last post. Maybe something got lost in translation.

Re: OOC Thread

My apologies.

I've had a pretty crazy schedule for a bit.

Back to normal now.  I'll be doing my catchup reading tonight.

Reading that I could hear the sound of a stopped tape deck starting back up.
Are other people still around?

Post up!

My apologies once again.  I went from a normal 8ish hour day to a 14ish one for a bit there.

Not so much.  ;P

I think I'll be ready to be done with this whole military thing when my 20 year mark rolls around.

My apologies - currently in the 14 hour mode, tho nothing as exciting as military gubbins...

I checked in on and off for a while and saw no activity. Anyone want to pick up/carry on?

I'm here daily still, so I'm available to keep going...  Forward momentum seems to have stalled though, it looks like Tanek and Sanjar have logged in recently, but Ori hasn't logged in for two months and Rhaskos not since May.

Yah I'm still here.  My rereading of the last few posts on Solisand seems like we're waiting on an update from Simulacrum, is that different from what you're reading Sim?

OK - I was giving Sanjar opportunity to revise a spell casting instruction, but his latest input seems to be to join in with Tanek's discretion vs valour decision.

Re: OOC Thread

In reply to Sanjar Zand (msg # 396):

Hey guys.  Sorry I've been a bit slack.  I'm changing job and moving from Aus to NZ.  That's mostly a poor excuse though.  I confess I was running out of imaginative solutions to the predicament in which we had found ourselves and my instinct to log in and see what was happening trailed off a bit.

Happy to be involved still as I was enjoying it very much. In all likelihood I will not be logging in quite as frequently as my professional learning curve is pretty steep just now.

Hope you're all well.  I'm hoping Sanjar is going to write professionally at some point as his posts are always a huge pleasure to read!

Re: OOC Thread

Good luck on your move.  I always have things lost or broken when I have to.

Thank you for the well wishing sentiment and appreciation of my writing.  I've bought a couple of books on ... writing books, and have been going through them a bit.  One on outlining for a novel in particular seems like something that may be of use to me.

Currently I'm in a professional course for the AF until mid/late-December.  After that though I'm thinking I may focus a bit more on the writing thing once again.

I also read some writing advice by G.R.R. Martin ( Game of Thrones etc. ) where he advised developing authors to first cut their teeth on short stories for the fiction magazines.  Which I thought didn't sound like bad advice at all.  So I was thinking of picking up a thing or two about short story writing.  Conan and Howard in general are personal favorites, and he got his start there as well.

Eventually I will have to stop researching 'how to' and get to the 'doing' part, but for now I feel pretty good about attempting to brush up on 'craft'.

Re: OOC Thread

In reply to Sanjar Zand (msg # 398):

And at last the GM makes a post...

Sorry - the last few weeks have been murderous, but in the end two good contracts for my business won.

I do get to write for my job sometimes, but as its not my designated role (I'm the boss after all) I mostly get to criticise or amend what other people write. Which is a good place to start too. But just as I found with my RQ output - in the end, do it because you enjoy it, look for an application later. Once you are doing it for a specific outcome, you have to compromise. Things you think are brilliant about what you have written may not do it for the intended audience - and vice versa.

What? You have a business besides Age of Treason material?
(If only RPG sourcebooks could entirely support people these days.)

Nice to hear good news about extra contracts :)

Congratulations on winning the contracts.  I'm bemused and embarrassed in equal measure that our lives have become so complex that I'm catching up on my best mate's life events via a message board on an RPG site!...

I hope you sell the TV shows in NZ.  Prime time viewing on a Friday and Saturday night here are old episodes of a UK soap opera...

I'm a little distracted at the moment buying a house. Signed loan documents today, escrow's closing on Friday, and we're probably moving later part of next week.  Will post as much as I'm able, but if I go quiet for awhile that's why.
