A New Story's Beginning: An evening at Aegir's Tavern

Your adventures have brought you far to the north into Hyperborea, close to the edge of the Frozen Sea. This region was the home of the fierce and mighty barbarians, and was a haven for adventurers of all stripes looking to earn a name for themselves. The barbarians had other names for the Gods, but any learned priest knew that these were just variations and forms of the traditional pantheon known to the great cities.

As to what brought you here? There had long been rumor that relics of the Gods and DemiGods, such as Herakles or even Zeus himself had been scattered across the lands of Hyperborea. Some were no doubt lost to the tundra, but others could be found and utilized for power and for glory. One such treasured relic was the Bow of Herakles. It was rumored that this mythical, and cultural weapon of the Herakles was locked away in a temple somewhere along the edge of the Frozen Sea. Whether this was actually true or not, who could be certain? But the lure itself was irresistible to any adventurer.

The weather had turned far colder the further north you went, and so it was with a measure of reprieve that you entered Aegir's Tavern, a small outpost on the cold road that promised warmth, food, and shelter providing you had the coin to pay. As you and your party enter, there is a distinct smell of mutton coming from the kitchen. A large fireplace has been pitted out in the center of the tavern, with a chimney leading up where the smoke can mostly escape to. Several guests warm themselves by this fire. The bar is fairly busy, with travelers of all sorts drinking, eating and talking amongst themselves. They pay no mind to you as you enter.

A young severing wench approaches though, and leads you and your group to a private table. After eying your coin purses to make sure you are not beggars, she promises to return shortly with some Hyperborean Ale and bread. For the moment, you have a chance to catch your breath and talk amongst yourselves...
