Re: Holonet [OOC]

I basically just switched it to group 0, I think...please let me know if it works now.

I have not run a game in some time, and it is a tad less intuitive than I'd hoped now that I'm actually doing it again.  I don't see a way to edit thread permissions directly, for instance.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

Directly?  Sadly you have to go into the GM menu and edit players/characters to do that.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

Yeah, if you go into the GM menu, you can bring up a table of all characters, and edit permissions for everyone like that with little check-boxes.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

I can see where I'd give access to the labeled groups (1-E), but not "public"...unless that is Z?

Re: Holonet [OOC]

From what I recall, anyone can see stuff in Group 0, which is also our default group.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

Oriana is correct.  Basically, Group 0 is where you want to put only the threads necessary for players looking to join.  I usually then stick player relevant stuff and OOC in group 1, then game threads in 2+.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

Most of the games I've played in have their set-up notices, RTJ, creation information, etc in Group 0, and then the actual game threads and OOC and what-not tagged as Group 1+, so everyone and their brother can't stumble by and read it.

Edit: Or Hector could be reading my mind. Out of my head, Hector! :)

Re: Holonet [OOC]

Never!

And for those interested, there's a pic in my bio now of Hector.  Specifically, the TOR character he's based on.  Picture shows him better than I could describe after all.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

Handsome fellow, indeed. *sagenod*

So I see the RTJ post is edited to no more smugglers or pilots, so I'm assuming we're the smugglers and pilots.  <.<

Are either of you heavily int-based or cha-based, as far as skills go? I'm waffling between a few choices to fill in my last slots, and don't want to overlap too terribly much in one spot at the expense of another.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

I received a surprising number of pilot RTJs.  Still looking for a good jedi.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

That's shocking.  I mean, really shocking.  I assumed that everyone would be sending in their Jedi ideas. o.O

Re: Holonet [OOC]

Why yes, I am a smuggler and a pilot...

Its amusing though that we're looking for Jedi still... then again, you did specify GOOD Jedi.  There are often many... not so good Jedi.

I haven't started working on the character yet, but Hector is likely to be a Dex/Cha build, with enough Int to get the skill focuses needed - Pilot, Knowledge: Underworld, and probably mechanics.

Basically, he's a Smuggler with a Heart of Gold, and hands that might as well be.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

Well I should say that I have some Jedi RTJs, but am waiting on one person who said he or she is at work and will be providing the actual RTJ later.  I shouldn't have done this to myself though, I hate telling people "No"...

Re: Holonet [OOC]

I'm the same way, GM.  Usually though, the problem solves itself for me.  Whenever I give constructive criticism, as friendly as I can be... I tend to type a lot.  So, when people see like, two or three paragraphs of input - no matter how friendly or helpful - those who aren't truly interested tend to just disappear.

It helps weed out the 'noobs' I find.

Re: Holonet [OOC]

Surprisingly, most people handle being turned down for games here fairly graciously.  Just say 'You had a great concept, but unfortunately I received <X so many> RTJs for only a few slots, and went with someone else.'

(Goodness knows I've failed to make the cut on plenty of games. The only time it bugs me is when I spend two days working on a character with a GM, to be turned away -after- that point.)

I can save you at least one skill point there, Hector.  Ori's going down the Tech Specialist tree, if you have something better to put that Mechanics point in. :)

...so, so leaving that one alone. <.<

Re: Holonet [OOC]

I'll think about it, Oriana, but I do like to build my character according to the background and such as well.  Mechanic fits, since he does (did) a lot of the work on his starship.  We'll see though... he did also have a crew member along who was proficient at that for a while as well.

Also, ahem, *Heyooo*.

Yes, yes they are. I was dithering earlier on whether or not I wanted to go Twi'lek also, but I've decided on human. :)

You know what's fun to play?  Barabel.  Not enough games suit that kind of PC though...

Re: Holonet [OOC]

There's a surprising amount of decent female Twi'lek portraits, actually.
