The Piper  Picked a Peck of People

Wednesday, 5am, in the cafeteria of the Glasgow branch of Interpol, two lone figures sit, unusual, since the cafeteria doesn't serve breakfast until 6.
I assume you wish to meet them today?

You assume correctly.  All things considered, they have done well so far, though cleaning up the Council's mess was a little louder and messier than I'd have liked.

Occupational Hazard when dealing with supernatural, especially wizardlings.

All things considered, it was probably for the best.  I assume Dr. Milos was killed before using his death curse?

Levy made no mention of such a thing.  I have to think it took him by surprise.  Milos was not overly experienced.  Which of course means he had a benefactor who understood mortal magicks.

That is why I backed you in starting these taskforces.  I agree something changed.  The amount of supernatural incidents have risen significantly, more than one man can handle.  Someone appears to be stirring the pot.

Like Chicago?

Ugh, I don't know what happened in Chicago.  It's unlikely some guy just stumbled on that kind of power though. I have the New York branch investigating the link between Sells and 3-eye.  Was he one of the suppliers?  Or just a local maker who was given a recipe? That's not a pleasant thought.

It's going to get worse before it gets better.  A lot worse.  Get your team prepared, Sergei.

<Brown>They will be, in due time.  I'm about to send them to follow up a lead on the 3-eye...

No! That's why I have Felix.  If it becomes necessary, I'll send for your team, but not right now.  It's time to put them firmly in the middle of things.  Sink or swim.  We've been asked for help in Wyvis, I talked to Dena, they can stay at the Lodge next to Loch Glass.

There is silence for a moment, Sergei staring hard at the table in front of him.<Brown>You are certain?

I will be after the briefing, one way or the other.  If the Piper is back, we can't wait.  This will let us know how capable Levy and Williams are, while also being a better test of their methodology. Oh, one last thing, about the previous mission, there was a gap in the real report.  What happened to the air spirit, and where did the gnomes move to?

Well, ma'am, we never ascertained the exact item the spirit was bound to, leading us to believe the object was destroyed while the spirit was out of it, thus freeing the spirit.  As to the latter, I'm afraid that's classified.

Sergei grins at his superior's grim look as Rebekah and Ariel enter, and get food.  Before they return to the sitting room, both previous occupants have left.

Israel rolls out of bed with a groan, his shoulder still sore.  At least there were no nightmares this time, he thinks. He recites his morning prayer and reads the daily Torah portion, before getting dressed and heading out for breakfast, grabbing his usual seat with Rebekah & Ariel.

In reply to Israel Levy (msg # 2):

Ah, here is our wanderer now!Ariel greets you jubilantly. It's been so quiet around here.  You and Jacob gone, Rebekah gone for a week.  Sergei in and out so often.  Well, maybe now we can get to a routine. Better eat quickly, something's got the boss on edge, but I've no idea what.

"Yeah, I'm like that bad penny, always in a turnip...or something like that. English proverbs are very strange." His eyes shift back and forth briefly and he smiles conspiratorially. "And whatever happened, I state for the record that under no circumstances is it my fault."

Re: The Piper  Picked a Peck of People

Since it looks like last week was a bit of a fluke on the "clock in" time, I'm breaking my PT up.  The run is first thing in the morning and the strength training is later in the day, presumably after leaving the office.  That way I don't have to rush through the rest of my routine to make it to the office on time (15 minutes early).

However, I am wearing a weighted vest and light ankle weights to simulate the weight of kevlar and combat boots.  I'm also pushing myself to bring my 10 mile time down by 5 seconds within the next 2 months.

(Atlhetics:  7 unless that should be an Endurance roll, in which case it's an 8)

I get cleaned up and head on in to the office via the cafeteria.

Mornin' ladies, Levy.  How's the shoulder?,

"It feels like I was almost impaled by a magical spear unintentionally launched by an exploding magician that was not caused in anyway by my own actions." He says with a sarcastic grin. Then adds more seriously "Better actually. Thanks for asking."

In reply to Israel Levy (msg # 6):

Rebekah scowls You'll make me look bad.  After all, I recruited you and you go and get hurt the first time I leave town? They'll think I'm going soft, or that I'm infatuated with you, picking you to come to my default base.
