In reply to Dann of Clan Valin (msg # 765):

Kores looks irritated.  But he resigns himself to waiting.  To help pass the time he lectures the players on Emphidian and Mercanian mythology, and the similarities between Wotan and Hermes in the creation of a writing system.  How Wotan exchanged an eye in a deal with Mimir for the secret of runes and hung from yggdrasil for days.

In reply to Kores Varias (msg # 766):

Trivel is not accustomed to long periods in confined spaces, and the prospect of an unexpected lock-in is clearly bringing out his claustrophobia, no matter how well he hides it. He paces back and forth, irritably, inspecting the statues, and only half listening to Kores lecture.

Suddenly the slab began to rise and the companions could see into the vestibule once more.

Carlyn stood on the other side of the plinth, " Glad that worked then....took me a while to remember which powder went where.....also I was napping....."

"So no ones dead then?"
, she queried. " Well, thats an improvement on last time..."

The great hound sniffed at some of the strange ichor on their clothing and sneezed loudly before bounding back to Carlyns side.

In reply to Carlyn (msg # 769):

Kores kept the lecture on for a while.  Unfortunately the timing of the slab didn't come at a right time so Kores finds himself talking quickly towards the end.  He will of course slide quickly to the other side when the slab raises to about his chest height.

Re: To Siren Wood.

The companions gathered together and ascended the spiral stone stairs out of the pit until they stood once again on the green turf and moss of the surface.

They began to make their way back towards the village under the afternoon sun when all in a moment the sky became clouded and grey.

Looking ahead on the path to the village there stood suddenly a lithe figure dressed in grey and green with a crown of beech leaves and snowdrops. Other figures came into view around him, but they stayed beneath the trees and were shadowed and hard to make out.

" Hold Mortals, I would speak with you."

Colm's jaw drops slack. Could this be a Prince of the Good Folk?  Come right out the forest to speak with them!
Colm gives a knee without hesitation, "Greetings to you LORD of the GOOD FOLK."

Colm carefully enunciated the important words so that everyone heard him! He keeps his eyes down, not looking at the Elf.
"I am Colm Cernach, Hearth Father of Gliss.  Speak lord and I shall listen."

Re: To Siren Wood.

The elf smiled, a too wide smile, and nodded to Colm, eyes glittered in the shadows when the others did not follow his lead but a slight tilt of the crowned elfs head had them withdraw a little.

" Men of Glissom, and beyond, you have done a service to your land this day.  An ancient evil that sat like a canker in our heartland has been sent away to the Shade from whence it came."

He leaned forward slightly and the amber-gold of his eyes seemed to wash over each of them in turn.

" I will grant a boon for your service...and another for your silence...."

"Knowledge?" says Dann, frowning. "In front of one of the most powerful being of this land, this is all you can think of? What about better weapons to help survive the horrors of these places you like to visit? Or resist the fiendish creatures with which you like to compromise?"

After saying that he looks at the elf lord again and starts immediately regretting his sharp words, impressed by the awesome presence.

" One boon you have claimed! we know of the Lost Legion. The men that came from far Selentia to die. They crossed our borders heading north, they lost some of their number beneath the trees and others died within Shaders Pit, the others ventured onwards north into the Bracks and were lost."

Dann of Clan Valin:
"Knowledge?" says Dann, frowning. "In front of one of the most powerful being of this land, this is all you can think of? What about better weapons to help survive the horrors of these places you like to visit? Or resist the fiendish creatures with which you like to compromise?"

After saying that he looks at the elf lord again and starts immediately regretting his sharp words, impressed by the awesome presence.

" Two boons you have claimed!", Dann felt his sword and shield suddenly grow warm as if by a roaring fire.

" These makings already carry some feeble sorceries of man but those dweomers now extend to the realms of energy and the weave."

OOC: The magical bonuses of Danns sword and shield now also add to his MA and MD as well as his ATT and DEF.

" You second boon is granted! A record will be kept of all that will and has transpired within our borders.  When we are gone and if men remain they will be allowed to retrieve it."

Gale Surefoot:
Gale shakes his head "If silence they want, it means no ballads for us... not being immortalized in a song of heroism and valor... a boon for that I shall ask."

"I'd ask for the gift of a sweet voice that would fascinate, beguile and charm any men, beast or spirit that dwell in this land."

The elf licked his lips slightly, " These boons I grant, I gave two. You ask for three....the first two I give. The third may come in time....if your candle does not snuff out before."

Gale suddenly felt a cool breeze upon his skin and tasted honey upon his lips.

OOC:

Gales Human Intuition and Looks rolls now function on both humans and animals as if he were 2 Ranks higher than his current Rank.

The elf chuckled, " I grant the first....I give you the strength of life. Did you not know that Death had already gathered you beneath her white wings? Greater strength in war you now have, for the strength of corpses is little."

" As for the second? This I grant, drink from your enemies heartsblood but once a moon and you will keep this gift for all time."

Lann felt a warmth wash through his body and the cold clamminess in his hands was gone. He felt more hale than he had before ever entering that pit.  He tasted blood in his mouth and felt a pricking in his thumbs....

OOC: Lanns Doom has been lifted and as long as he keeps the elfs bargain he has +2 to his MA and MD.

The elf cocked its head to one side and regarded Colm for a moment, before a wide grin revealing too-sharp teeth split its features.

" Your doom has passed away and you merely face the doom of all mortals now. You carry the fire of Brigantia within you, it is not a power we possess or have love for but as fire may burn your enemies, may the fire in your blood fuel your gift further."

OOC:

Colms MPs have permanently increased by +2 in his main category and +1 in his other two categories. Further, he may, if he wishes, use hps as mps to fuel his spells and Elemental powers.
