In reply to Colm Cernach (msg # 903):

Love reading about 15th century Yamato.  Watched 20 films of zatoichi in the past 2 years and love the akira kurosawa stuff.  But that's 15th century with gunpowder.  Bit of an effort to GM, seems we pretty much have to resolve combat quickly.

I think before the big warring states period they had some weird form of government and I've seen pretty much no movies that depict that time.  Lots of samurai movies tend to be during the Tokugawa 250 year peace time.

Bought some adnd 1ed kara tur stuff and wanna read up on that.  Oh and check out Sengoku on drive thru.  I think it sells real cheap and has a lot of information on etiquette and lifestyles and whatever.

So does the “hint hint” mean we should wait to move forward and spend some posts interacting? I’m down for that, but wouldn’t want to slow the game if that’s not the intent. Alternatively we could do some pm role playing.

Guderian saw tactical surprise, concentration of forces and the intelligent use of terrain as the keys to success for a given panzer unit.

Mainly just so at least everyone knows each others names, ethnicitys and standings...to avoid any future confusion.

PMs are fine if you wish to have private convos....seeing as I can see them anyway. :D

Hmmm...it seems Guderian saw no need for Sappers anywhere in his war machine. Tanks and Wehrmacht foot were enough to engulf the enemies of the Third Reich. ;D

Ah, but panzers fail when Sappers create defensive structures...

The defensive preparations included minefields, fortifications, artillery fire zones and anti-tank strong points, which extended approximately 300 km (190 mi) in depth.[37] Soviet mobile formations were moved out of the salient and a large reserve force was formed for strategic counter-offensives.[38]

Within the Central and Voronezh Fronts the fortifications extended to a depth of 110 miles. If the Steppe Front and Don River to its rear were included, the Kursk salient was 180 miles deep consisting of 8 defensive belts. T

Barbarians and Assassins can scale the walls under the cover of darkness and open the gates from within. Warlocks, Elementalists, Sorcerers and Mystics have their ways to either get inside unhindered or outright blast the gates open.

Knights...yeah they can't do much but wait for their colleagues to open the gates and let them come in...;P ;D

No, Knights can let the damned peasants do all the hard lifting, sapping, wall breaching whilst they sip tea.

Pretty much what the khanate nomads did when they had to take on a wall.

Toirneach Lann:
Lann takes the rear guard and climbs last.

Ok so this is my suggested approach to the situation:

Stealth force scales the cliff and invades from inside the enemy camp.
Dann, Brannon, Griff, Drake, Jon, Aphail(noncombatant).

Main assault force approaching by the stairway from the front.
Chlainn, Usopi, Lann, Lute.

IMHO, if Lann climbs with the Stealth force, the main assault force would be too small. Also, Lann is wearing heavy armor (chainmail) right? More suited to go from front than to sneak around...:)

Haha so long as Chlainn and I are both in the assault force then it is more than big enouvh.;)

But yeah, heavy armor should probably stay with us just to avoid exposing the sneaky folks.

Re: OOC Thread 2.

So I’m just a tad confused, weren’t we giving the stealth team some time to scout out the camp before they gave Chlainn and I the signal to move up, and THEN we were to give them a 600 count? I’m fine to go now, I just don’t want to jump the gun if I’m not misunderstanding the plan.

Hahahah...yeah so it's ok. Some confusion there but it's ok to go ahead with what's been done.

So now the front assault team gives a 600 count - basically 10min - for the stealth team to locate the priest and prepare to take him out. Or her.

Well, if we arrive early, so much the better.  Stealth team can chase down the stragglers that have dispersed into the woods once we've done all the heavy lifting.  We'll have our boots up and picking our teeth when they arrive....

A bonfire would've been great.  Set it at a distance, the time it takes us to get to the cliff face, the time it would take for them to check out the fire.  It would divert some of the youths without bloodshed and also kill a lot of woodland creatures.  Experience points for squirrels killed?
