Not a war horse, a riding horse.  One of these days I'll own a warhorse, and wonder why I spent all that money....

Chlainn needs solvents for medicinal purposes....

Re: Character Creation Thread.

Caith would nod in approval at Chlainn for having the wits to know what to do with such dire concoctions as Turnip Wine, and write 'Medicinal Use Only!' on the cask... :)

I'll go peruse the drinks section of the equipment list then, now I understand the party's priorities: Get Drunk, Get Rich, and Get To Glissom, in roughly that order.

BTW, I know the PC picture is probably a bit too pretty for Caith, but it's the closest one I could find to a female spellcaster in the lot that looked even vaguely like she'd had part of her face chewed off and hidden behind the messy fringe.

The black dyed hair is more disguise than vanity, as her usual particular shade of blazing red hair is likely to be a clan trait, and one best concealed close to home.

It does have exactly the right facial expression for Caith though, so close enough.

I'd say that if someone has had a gutful of the pointy traditional wizard hats, Tim the Enchanter's look is a good choice of something different in the way of wizardly headwear.

Tends to worry the villagers though, as apparently you have to be female to get away with horned headresses without the wild rumours of being a demon cultist flying around faster than you can say 'Burning at the stake!' in fantasy Pseudoeurope.

Re: Character Creation Thread.

In fairness, I like weird hats myself, so Caith's Padded Armour Coat/Wolf Hide Armour probably looks a little bit like this ancient roman dude's outfit:

She's basically the younger shortarse female version of The Soothsayer out of Asterix & Obelix as far as her wardrobe choices go.

However, she is quite sure she's not a werewolf, and will seriously consider stabbing people who ask that question of her. The cloak is really a warning to the next wolf that tries to bite her as what to expect in response.

Thank you, I haven't quite got the hang of the picture linking here yet. :)

And yeah, I like the standard bearers in wild animal skins out of the legions. Painted a few for my wargamer dad long ago.

Also, other than the barrel of cheap booze, still finding a cost by the barrel, Caith is all equipped, armed with spells and ready to rock.

What about a description?  Please.

If its booze you're after, you can get a bottle of Thulanch (Whiskey)
Cheap blend = 1F, Good Blend = 10F, Single Malt = 50F, Matured Sinlge Malt = 100F.
A Wolfskin cloak with headdress might cost 200F, AF0

Have you thought about a Familiar? A Hawk might be cool.

Working on a description now...

Caith can afford a bottle of the Single Malt, or half a dozen of the Good Blend stuff.

And she paid double cost for a Padded Armour Coat, and hunted her own wolf skins already. The one that makes up the hood has a human shaped bite mark out of one ear...

I haven't read up on Familiars yet, but if they're useful I'd consider one. Owl more use than a hawk though, particularly at night, or even underground.

Re: Character Creation Thread.

Sixty bottles of the cheap stuff and Caith will be too drunk to walk down the road, let alone cast spells...

That and she'd have spent the money to buy a mule to carry that many bottles on the bottles so that plan don't work either.

Small problem of having a Familiar is non-compatible career choices as a requirement.
Reckon Caith will be better off staying a Hedge-Wizard and sticking to summoning minor gods than the likes of Familiars as laid out in the book.

Besides, she'd rather take her chances haggling over live mice with Pangbur Ban for favors than trying her luck with that big demon wolf fella with the rest of the PC as the mice...

Oh that's easy. Just teach said barbarian Greek. :)

That's all that the ancient Greeks IRL needed to convince them that some outlandish chap in strange clothes was smarter than the average barbarian apparently...

Also see "Mongo only pawn in game of life..." for a less ancient example of the enlightened but limited in intellect fighter.

Conan MacFarnsworth sounds about right TBH.

Thats annoying...  just because AD&D 1ed does it doesn't mean to you have to follow their limitations....
