Kores Varias:
In reply to GM (msg # 919):

Kores briefly looks anxious before resuming his usual frown and indifference.

"As good as these Gentlemen can make it.  You have a robust cellar, signs indicate that part of it was constructed when the Selentine legions were here.  Amazing Engineers!  Have you heard of the battle of Alesia?"

Old Tom scratched his privates, " That near Ongus is it?"

Re: (IC) Glissom City - Dockside

In reply to GM (msg # 921):

"Ongus...  is a little closer...  The conquest of old Chaubrette was decided by the Selentine and their amazing engineering skills.  They managed to trap a horde of Barbarians in a fortress, and were attacked by another party.  Their defensive fortifications allowed them to maintain a constant defensive network, keeping the barbarians contained on two fronts.  The victory was the completion of the conquest"

"The Selentine also make great aqueducts, bath houses, sewage channels and interesting catacombs."

Dann took up a pick and began smashing at the stone wall, chipping away slowly at the solid stone blocks.

In reply to Dann of Clan Valin (msg # 923):

Kores gives Dann words of encouragement, tries to point out weak spots in the stone wall whilst staying far away to avoid getting hit by flying chips.

"Excellent work!  A little more work!  Put your back into it!  See?  All working out well!"

After an hour or so there is space enough cleared for a man to squeeze through into the passageway.

Kores slipped through the narrow gap into the passageway, in the light from the cellar he saw that many years of dust coated the inner walls but there were places where recent activity had brushed it away and there were bootprints in the deep floor dust leading in both directions.

Before him was the direction he had first heard noise from, behind him the direction he believed the men, if such they were, had gone....

That's will be a tough squeeze with my armor." Brenar said after looking at the passage. "I risk being noisy, scrapping on the wall and will have to move sideway-ish." He added looking at the others. "Not ideal condition."

"What now? Are we supposed to line up into this tunnel like ants, waiting to be crushed by one of your fellow winged demons?" asks Dann, concerned by the size of the tunnel as well.

We'll investigate what they were looking at first, and then follow the men.

Single file...  Someone in armour move first, I'll stay in the middle.

Rabbie grins at Dann.  "Occh, if they've got wings they'll probably fly into the walls."

Entering the tunnel, Rabbie calls to Grwn to wait.  He checks the boot prints in the dust to see if there is anything unusual or any other prints, and the direction of travel.

Rabbie determines there are two pairs of boots, the owners of which have travelled in both directions.

As Grwn comes to a halt in response to Rabbies call, he sees the lantern light glint off of something metal further down the passageway...

The companions noted as they drew closer that there had been a bit of digging done here as well, the passageway had ended in a clay wall, but someone had dug it out and beyond it lay an assortment of objects.

From drag marks and empty spaces a large number of items had already been removed but there were still quite a few present:

A bronze chest that Kores recognised as being of Selentine origin, complete with eagle motifs.
An assortment of silver coins of great vintage, stamped with a head on one side and an eagle on the other held in three small pottery bowls.
A huge mirror, larger than man-sized, the edges were gilt with silver and it stood on a basalt base.  The mirrored surface was polished obsidian.
A large pectoral on a silver chain, it was covered in images of ravens and moons and dominated by a central baleful eye of amber.
A skull on a heavy brass chain, the skull had been dipped in silver and both it and the chain were heavily tarnished.

Re: (IC) Glissom City - Dockside

In reply to GM (msg # 944):

Kores will inspect the Selentine chest.  I hope we have some room.  "Dann keep an eye out, maybe we can somehow restrict the light."

Well, we're not assassins so who cares....

"What have we here?  The Selentine were so good to leave things everywhere.  Standard military symbols."

Kores considers the possibility that a trap might activate and he might lose his hands, but he's more excited about the contents.

OOC: Is there a lock on this?  He might suggest everyone back off if they can whilst he opens it, and Grwn can hold the lantern.
