OOC: There is no lock.

Lit by Grwns lantern, Kores carefully opens the lid of the chest. Within it are six crystal flasks chased with silver and gold, the clear liquid in them shimmers in the lantern light. Sea sponges are jammed between the flasks to cushion them during transport.

In reply to GM (msg # 946):

"Must be some divine beverage.  Based on the extra measures to reduce impacts and kinetic forces, these drinks must be quite sensitive to motion.  I suggest we refrain from dropping these."

Kores shuts the case and tries to stow them away somewhere where he can minimize motion and close to the floor in case he drops them.

Allocates the findings....

Brenar accepts the coins, doing a quick count of them before pocketing them.

OOC: Come to think of it, assuming we're not in a rush to go anywhere, Kores does want to try to identify them.  Are they reseable?  Screw tops?  Cork?  Or wax sealed?

The coins are old and quite tarnished, but Brenar quickly determines they are worth more than the modern silver coins..possibly quite a bit more to the right buyer.

The tops are sealed with a metallic foil of some type, possibly silver.

Sealed?  Then Kores will just stow them away and hope they don't detonate or emit anything toxic.

Lets resume the marching order in the opposite direction.  Come to think of it, Kores will consider using MOONLIGHT if they hear of anything.  Lets go quietly...

Dann takes the pectoral and whispers: "If people are really roaming around these tunnels, why would they leave these valuable items behind?" he wonders.

"Perhaps they don't need the money, not right away.  Must be many more Selentine artifacts to be found here.  Perhaps we might even meet people from the other side...  A most welcome experience...  we could exchange stories about the realms beyond..."

Would it be stealthier if someone else went on ahead?  Maybe if we go slow, and if we hear any sounds, Kores walks forward with moonlight.  Lets not try to agitate too many people.  Maybe conceal the lantern light with a cloak and just see what we're stepping on....

The pectoral is chill to the touch and feels slick against his fingers...

Rabbie looks at the mirror in the lantern light.  "Erm... I donnae have much use for this.  Besides, isn't this someone else's?"  He touches the smooth obsidian surface and examines workmanship.  With Kores' talk about Selentines he wonders if the items are as old as his shortsword.

He furrows his brow.  "Maybe it was stolen and hidden here..." He looks around the way they came.  "Which means they will be coming back for it."

Rabbie sneaks back down the tunnel a bit and listens for anything coming.

Dann continues to be surprised, after studying the pectoral: "Are all these magical items? Agreed, this might be some kind of storage area. Someone might get upset that we take them away..."

It seemed like Finan had been trapped in a void between the world of the dead and the world of men for an eternity.  Then he saw a single finger, hovering before his face...

Almost as if summoned by Kores words an image appeared within the mirror, the form was of a man composed of living flame, he raised his arms trailing fire and spoke words that went unheard...

...the former companions of Finan gasped as they recognised the figure as he.

Satisfied with his loot, Brenar kept à close watch of the passage in which they came in after he pocketed the coin.

Kores glances at the mirror.  Glances away.  Furrows his brow and he grabs at the mirror.

"Finan!  Are you dead?  Can you hear me?"

Kores tries rapping at the mirror.  Maybe this is an illusion, or just some strange communication device with the dead....

Hearing the name, Dann looks closer at the mirror. "Is... Is that Finan in there? Is he trapped or something, or is that an illusion?" He motions to break the mirror but hesitates, looking for answers in Kores's face.

"I'm inclined to do so too, but this might be the only connection we have with him."

Kores wants to see if Finan responds intelligently, or whether this is some kind of visual recording of Finan.  Kores will try a few rude hand gestures.....

The fiery image reached out towards Kores as if thrying to grasp his hand with a somewhat frustrated look on its face....
