What shape of tracks?  Hooved or foot like?

Assuming it was humanoid, based on the harpoon size and tracks, are we dealing with something 10ft tall or 100ft tall?

Am I in the vicinity?  Did the party reform or am I still standing in the path?

Impatiently Kores wonders what the hell they're doing...  He wanders over to find out whats keeping them and will follow his sense of smell....

Finan remained close to Guillaume, hanging back from the whale.

"I'm guessing this may just be the first catch of the day and whatever brought it up here will be returning with more shortly.  We should probably make ourselves scarce - this is no business of ours if someone wants to eat whales." Bael said, his movements hinting that he wanted to return to Finan and deliver Guillaume's body back to the town rather than meet someone who carries whales around.

"That's probably right. Let's try not to be on the way as much as possible." answers Dann, while getting up and moving fast towards his companions.

Yamousou looked nervous about tackling whatever this creature was. "Agreed. Whoever, or whatever this is, it is clearly hungry. I say we leave him to his dinner and be on our way."

"I've read stories of how sharks reject human flesh because it lacks the blubber which they are accustommed to consuming.  Perhaps whatever eats whale can't find sufficient nutrition in human flesh..."

The companions made their way back towards the city, They arrived well after dark...almost midnight...on the southern bank of the River Shadowspin.

Across the water to the north they could see lamps and torches burning in the city.

There were few rafts and boats tied to the wharves on this side but an old man crouched over a small hearth waved them over.

" Can I be helping a fine parcel of men this cold night? Ah, tis shame, was he your friend?", he queried pointing out Guillame borne on Yamousous shoulders.

He obviously marked the more unusual among them but said naught.

" Quiet lot aren't ye? You want passage across the water? Will be a silver each, nothing for the dead man."

That's bearing in mind that Kores has not needed to pull 'his' weight....

After handing over a single silver coin, Yamousou sat quietly until the vessel was underway. As they drifted gently across the water he trailed his hand in the water and stared into the distance. He began to sing; his voice was quiet, and the slow song seemed a sad dirge.

Bael hands over the coin and starts up conversation with the man - "We saw something quite peculiar out there.  A whale dragged up from the cliffs.  Do you see many giants around these parts?"

" Giants? Nae, hasn't been a giant around here since........well since the days long past."

" A whale dragged up.....a whale was dragged up the Sounders? Your having a laugh? Yer not, are you?"

" I've heard some fell tales from folks coming from the south. Now that we get folks coming from the south. Never used to, except some crofters, but now theres a few wagons up a couple of times a month."

" Dark things have come out of Ereworn they tell me, their renewal may be our ruin....maybe this whale-catcher has come up from the south as well?"

As they drew close to the north shore wharf he threw a line out to a shoreman, " Your here."

" Where you off to?"

"People coming from the south you say? What kind of people?" asks Dann, genuinely interested.

"To the church.  Our friend followed the Hanged God and he shall rest there."

"Things?  Interesting...  what sort of things...  What did they tell you?  And who told you?"

" Hmmm, oh, merchants, traders....that sort of folk. The poor ones mostly, them with money come by ship."

" You know where it is? Just up past the Crown and Anchor".

The man looked a little askance but answered nonetheless.

" Uh, travellers...as I said. Nothing of substance just stories...and the like...nothing for decent folks to trouble themselves with."
