Re: Dean Jericho's Office
Kayla narrowed her eyes and shrugged.
"I saw the man who kidnapped my parents, who'd come to my school to threaten my friends.  I had to stop him."

Re: Dean Jericho's Office
Jericho gives a slight smile. "Something you should know, they came to kill a prisoner who had information as to where they might be holding Rebecca Brown." He draws out a folder. "You helped Miss Brown without ever knowing it. Would you be willing to do that again?"

Re: Dean Jericho's Office
Kayla raised a dubious eyebrow.
"We're keeping prisoners now??"
Then she rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"No..don't tell me...i don't care.  what do you need me to do to get Rebecca back?"

Re: Dean Jericho's Office
"MHA ran a prisoner convoy nearby. They got attack and came here. It was a shit decision on their part, but they'd probably be dead if they didn't make it."

"That said..." He draws out a folder. "I was going to approach this in a diplomatic fashion, but things have moved our timetables. I want you to buy a slave."

"Orville Mahon..." The name is familiar, someone your dad knows. "He was offered artificial powers by a group we believe is holding Rebecca." The folder has pictures and files, sensitive financial files that should probably be private, both belonging to Mahon and Kayla's father. "For twelve million dollars, they are offering him the ability to interface with teleport. We want you to make him take that deal."

In reply to Dean Jericho (msg # 42):

Kayla raised an eyebrow at seeing her father's secrets on the dean's desk, but didn't mention it.
""Go over that last part again?  'Buy a slave'?  What does that mean?"

Re: Dean Jericho's Office
"Current technology of artificial mutants works like this. The Augmented human need regular transfusions of mutant blood with the proper compatibility drugs."

"This group is offering mutant slaves for rich people who want to know what it's like to be powerful. John here got us some intelligence that tells up that Orville Mahon was approached by the group, they are calling themselves the Exchange."

"We believe Orville declined, we want you to use your family's influence to change his mind. We monitor the transaction, then we ..." He looks off to the side. "Then we make sure everyone who was involved is properly taken care of."

Re: Dean Jericho's Office
Kayla frowned, looking confused and horrified at this part of the world to which she'd been ignorant.
"In other words, you want my help to find these people who are keeping mutants as slaves and livestock?  I'm in.  So, since not many people might know that I'm a mutant, do I pretend to be some rich human who wants powers and wants this jackass to lead me to someone who can help me?"

"I appreciate the eagerness, but enough people have seen Kayla Stone. This is the same group that you tangled with in Los Angeles. They'll know who you are by this point."

"We need you to put pressure on this Mr. Mahon to take the offer."

"How do I do that?   Does he know me, too?"

John was sitting uncomfortably shifting perhaps trying to get attention to himself. Jericho shook his head at Kayla's question. "He knows your father and what he told him about you. We want you to call your father and tell him to take the deal."

John finally speaks out. "Yeah... thing is. This little operation. It's less of a government sanction op and more... freestyle espionage." He points at Rylis and nods at Kayla. "Don't get me wrong! This guy is really good at this sorta thing. It's like all he does. He literally owns a cloak and dagger."

"But there are almost always unforeseen risks to getting involved, even when you think you are just a spectator."

"Finished?" John nods at Jericho. "He's not lying, we do everything we can to avoid blowback, but sometimes it happens. If you help us, this is your warning."

Jericho looks down at the side of his desk and frowns. "Make the decision of what to do soon Ms. Stone, I need a word with these people." He touches a switch and unlocks the door and motions Terri and Joshua to enter. "Come in."

Re: Dean Jericho's Office
Stepping into the office Terri looked around at the others that were there.  Kayla she knew, the man she did not.  Considering the nature of the information she had sge preferred to keep it as private as possible if for no other reason than to protect them.  "Dean Jericho l hope I am not making a mistake by giving this to you.  I need to trust someone and you are it by default.  All I ask is that this be kept quiet.  No body who does not need to be told gets told."

Passing over the thick folder she almost sagged with relief.  What ever happened now was out of her hands.  Inside the folder were names, dates, locations, processing facilities.  More than one influential politician and major industrialist would probably kill to keep the folder secret and destroyed if it came to light.  "A lot of that information is time sensitive. "

Re: Dean Jericho's Office
He took the folder and opened it going through a few photos with the look of a man staring at excel spreadsheets. The horror within seemed to have little effect on him. He closed the folder having gone through half of the pictures. "It's being looked into." Jericho hands the folder back.

John sorta leans to get a look. "Yeesh, that more of that lab stuff? Think maybe Vic should look at it?" He checks his phone. "Apparently old one eye is back too."

Re: Dean Jericho's Office
Terri stepped back from the desk not accepting the folder back.  "I don't want it back.  That is one story that I'm never publishing.  I just want it stopped by whatever means are needed.  I'm hoping you are the right person to see it gets done.  According to your file you should be."

One of the first things Terri had done when she came to the school was to start developing complete background folders on all of the instructors and some of the students.

"Terri, I need you to keep this quiet. Know that it's being handled." He sighs. "Take it to Victor, he's in his lab." He takes a glance at Joshua and nods, he felt he could trust the youth to get her in the right direction.

Josh had been a silent passenger so far, but at the mention of Havoc being home he felt a smile coming on. "Old crinkley is back in his lab? Great. Finally might have a chance of doing something to track Bec. Any luck so far on the leads we managed to pick up yet?" he queried.

Kayla walked into the office.   She seemed almost a little embarrassed.
"I'm sorry, but I'm just having some trouble working through this plan.  I'm just not a cloak and dagger kind of person, I guess.  Can you run through it one more time?"

Re: Dean Jericho's Office
Jericho was understanding and patient for the time being. "I want you to tell your father to use his influence to make Orville Mahon attempt to buy illegal black market genetics. When he meets his buyer we follow the path to the people running the deal. Once we find them, anyone who buys and sells mutants like they are property will be removed from the equation."
