"Preparedness." Jericho shuffles some of the files in front of himself.

The parade of nightmares does not go on much longer. There are a few minor threats not worth noting. The meeting ends relatively quietly and everyone is dismissed to return to their daily routines.

Gathering her notes, Mercy promised a full report by the end of the day.   Excusing herself, she left the basement to return to her Infirmary.

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
The basement room is illuminated by the light of dozens of monitors. Jericho is sitting at a desk with a spread of papers before him trying to get a big picture view of everything that was happening.

Leaning against his desk is a long rifle and atop a set of papers is a pistol he's using as a paper weight. Clenched between his collar bone and his cheek is a phone he is using to talk to someone in military jargon.

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Jericho sees David and Mercy walk in and sends a few more methods. He glances at a monitor and taps a few keys on his computer. He backs off and takes a breather. "Fresh coffee is in the pot." He motions toward a simple machine in the corner. "Don't use the one in the kitchen, I think Havoc may have 'fixed it'."

"The lock-down is just a precaution. Part of the protocol is getting a bead on where everyone is." He motions to about six dedicated monitors. They are showing lines of information on the names of every student and their last known location and when that information was gathered. Practically every line has been filled green with a few exceptions indicating some people are not accounted for on campus.

Stone, Kayla. Kivper, Kimberly. One or two others. Mercy can spot Masters, Joshua go from green to red.

Mercy noticed Kayla's name instantly, since the young woman was her assistant.
"I can call Kayla, if you want me to.  And what does that red light mean for Joshua?"

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
"It means he's going off campus. I keeping tabs on him. What we know for sure is that there are five possible targets. Number four on the list is Congressman Sullivan. Stone and Kivper are in the area but I can't get a confirmation on that. Chatter doesn't entirely suggest he is the target though." His words are cut short by a garbled message over a radio.

Havoc's broken message still manages to convey a panic he rarely shows. "Shit....t.shit.....spotted Legion, relay ..... Confirmed sighting...gion.... engage."

A look of genuine fear comes onto Jericho's face. He dryly repeats the name under his breath like it was a dirty word. "Legion. This is bad."

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Mercy paused as she was getting out her phone, her face pinched and her beautiful brown eyes wide with worry.
"Legion?  Havoc spotted that maniac??  "
She sighed with exasperated amusement at the idea of saying a sentence that contained the words "Havoc" and "maniac" and not having them, for once, be the same person.
"Where is he now?"

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Jericho waited in anticipation. The radio blared again, but it was Victor's squadmates who answered. "Priest, this is Awesome, over."

Rylis snapped the radio to his mouth to respond. "Awesome, this is Priest, comfirm sightings on Legion and status of Zero."

"Havoc went into some forcefield, we can't reach him on the radio. Zero took down Legion, but there isn't anyway out of the field as far as we can tell."

David stepped forward sheepishly. "Rylis, I got through like 90% of the threat files, but who is Legion? Wasn't Brimstone the one we were worried about? Is he a mutant of some kind?"

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Rylis nodded solemnly. "Marcus Milton, A.K.A. Legion. He's a replicating mutant who can somehow create copies of himself." Rylis pulled a file on a monitor. "There are a whole number of theories as to how he does what he does, but the longer he is in one place, the more copies of himself he can make. We didn't anticipate him being here..."

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
David shudders and shakes his heads. Everything was going to hell, this is when he would be needed the most. With one last emotional look at Mercy as his support he nods.

"Okay, so there is some force-field, blocking signals." He slides some important looking papers off to the side and start scrawling seemingly random symbols on a paper. "But we can see through the other side, means light is getting through. If there is fiber optic cable going along that road there is a chance I might be able to create a simplistic optic communication system by re-purposing a check station in that area via..."

Jericho stops him there. "I've heard Havoc gibber on like that before. If you got an idea go through with it." He returns his focus to diverting security forces from their old objectives so they can respond to what is happening on highway 80, he doesn't even notice David noticeably shiver at the comparison with Havoc.

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
David was quietly working for a moment when he started with a stream of seemingly unending requests to Mercy. "I need a ZI-168 module and a universal data converter." He pauses just a moment. "It'll be a green case with a gray metal tube going through it, and a orange cylinder with red and blue wires." He motions to a swarm of half made electronics in the corner of the room. It was the first request of many. Just as soon as Mercy completes one task David asks a her to bring him a new gizmo or device.

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
While the battle happens in Highway 80, under Reign Academy, Rylis scrambles to be prepared to take control of the situation. Mercy is running back and forth ensuring that David has whatever he needs to do whatever it is he can think of. For the moment they managed to call in reinforcements when the field went down as well as gain visual. Allies in the area setup cameras so the situation could be monitored.

David gives Jericho a list of all available military units in the area, the closest is a company of national guard. "Yes... that's right... the friendlies are the people on page six... Yes son, he can copy himself, just shoot 'em as they appear." He hangs up the phone and nods. "Okay, I have a unit of troops en route to that zone in the next fifteen minutes. We can only hope they manage to get that field down."

"David, didn't you say you could get us in contact with them?"

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
The young scientist shakes his head. "It was a long shot, but no. I could get past the field but I was relying on a specialized dimensional quirk that is... It seems that something is causing ripples and a disturbance. Like someone is teleporting like crazy under there."

Jericho narrows his gaze. "Like Havoc's teleport? Can you track it? Victor told me that it's possible to track when someone messes with the... you know, space time."

Daivd shakes his head. "Normally yes, but someone is muddying the waters. Tracking a teleport in that is going to be extremely difficult if not impossible. It seems to happen every time one of those copies dies."

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
"Shit..." Dean Jericho glanced a small communicator he had on hand. He recieved a message from Havoc.

SULLIVN NOT TRGT

Rylis ran every bit of intel he had gathered up so far. "David. You said someone sent us an encryption. It took you a week to break it right?"

David:
David snaps his fingers and opens his eyes. "That reminds me! Someone sent Reign Academy some encryption. I start a program to break it's code isolated from our systems like a week a ago and it should be open today."

David confirms what Rylis asked. "Could Rebecca Brown have broken it?"

Rebecca:
Rebecca leans forward and setup up her laptop sliding it so you can see. "That initiative thing you mentioned. I might have found something on that." She has a few dozen sights open and types so rapidly it's hard for you to keep up. "When I helped you find something that mention that Initiative around a week ago. I found a pretty harmless amount of administration code which is something really weird to be guarded by like a super duper crazy good firewall."

She nods with a smirk. "Next thing I know, someone is sending out a message to whomever got through their system and dozens." Suddenly it slows down to a large black screen loaded with an untraceable IRC chat program.

"It's her. She's the target. That code was them making sure she is capable of whatever it is they need." Jericho didn't have proof he was right, but the pieces started to fall together. They made an ugly picture. He sent Havoc a message, if he got it in time then maybe they could stop them.

David is listening on a phone. He nods solemnly. "Joshua, Stone, and Kivper managed to save the civilians. Havoc is down, unclear how bad. They got Rebecca Brown." He reaches out and holds Mercy's hand. "That poor girl." He says dryly.

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Joshua's voice comes in through a communication device. "It's Josh. No doubt you know they have Bec, and I'm worried what that means to our college. Get David to do a feasibility study on what would happen if Bec was coerced into messing with our AI. You need to harden things up like yesterday."

David looks around realizing the importance of what the young man just said. He would need to find out what sort of damage the enemy could cause with her power. Before David says anything Rylis nods and says. "It will take Rebecca Brown fifteen days to break through what we call vital systems. Banking, power grids, emergency services, military security, and national secrets. We have that time frame to get her back."

"In that case, we need to get cracking. Is there anything we can do here to get a trace on a teleportation signal? I have Havoc's cube, but I don't intend using it since I don't know how. I figured it might have something in it that would help trace a path though?" answers Josh.
