Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
In the basement level of Reign Academy there is an unremarkable storage area with a great deal of cleaning supplies and uncomfortable squeaky bingo chair. The room seems perpetually dusty and is largely ignored. In the back there is a rusted yellow and black radiation symbol from the Fifties back when a bomb shelter was built during the height of the Cold War.

Behind that door is a wood paneled room with dim lights and a poker table. There are old black and white pictures along the walls of Elsa with friends. Despite being two floors underground, it is marked L1

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Elsa Reign opens the door. She gives a welcoming smile to see her friend. Shifts her weight from one leg to the other and rests her arm against the door frame. "Mercy," She looks her up and down, and shakes her head. "This place is insane isn't it? We live and work so close to each other yet almost never see each other? Why's it gotta take a fake poker game for us to spend some time like we used to?"

Behind Elsa you see Rylis Jericho standing in the back of the room pouring himself a drink, Victor and David are playing a hand. David is sitting on tens and fives, but if Havoc's emotional line tells you anything, everything David throws into the center of the table is about to have a new owner.

Mercy smiled and walked forward, giving her old friend a hug.  Quietly she added:
"Don't blame me, hun.  I'm always in the Infirmary, so you have no excuse."

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Jericho waited for the two friends to say their hellos. "Mercy, we'd like you to go through the folder there." It seems there is one at every seat.

Inside you see various patterns of attack on Reign Academy. Elsa shifts uncomfortably looking at it. David finds it equally disturbing. Jericho flips through it with calm and Victor seems to be largely ignoring it shuffling a deck of cards.

Though not a tactician, or even the genius that most of the room was, Mercy looked to see if she could deduce anything from the unnerving files.

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
The meeting drags on and on as the group glosses over the multitude of terrifying ways horrible things can happen. It might occur to you that Havoc and Jericho would have to actively sit down and simply think up of new ways to destroy Reign Academy.

Some are as simple as government trained kill team sweeps, some are as ridiculous and elaborate as teleporting a tsunami in front of the campus. It sounds ridiculous until Victor pieces together three ways it can happen.

One light that shines through the dark is David. While he feels disturbed and shaken by the endless talk of doom and destruction, he always has a solution. It frequently ends with a shouting match between Havoc and David both convinced they are correct until Elsa and Rylis pull them back respectively so the meeting can move on.

Mercy hugged David again, feeling more like a playground monitor than an actual contributor to the conversation.   She tried to learn all she could, though, so she might have something to help with.   The situation felt like some kind of nightmare.    She felt like she was a child whose blissful ignorance about the fun world she was in just got shattered by watching cable news for the first time.

The group pushes through the catalog of nightmares to one page with a variety of designer bacterias and virus. Havoc speaks up. "Mercy, while were on the subject of the bio attacks, what's the most complex sickness you have been able to wipe from someone's system?"

David shakes his head. "I know where this conversation is going. First you want her to practice on a infected lab rat, then your asking her to make vaccines, and the next thing you're asking her to do is engineer plagues or something..."

Mercy scoffed.
"i am NOT 'making' any diseases.  And I've mostly used my powers on influenza and other normal illnesses.  I've never tried it on something man made."

Havoc shifts in his chair and points at Rylis. "The two of us have been in meetings VERY similar to this one, only with the exact opposite intention. There were some mitigating forces that convinced the higher ups not to delve into bio attacks on the mutants. These extremist groups do not have these mitigating forces."

"Let me take this scenario, 60% infection, fatal incubation in two hours. Assuming we know we were hit instantly, how much of Reign Academy survives?"

Jericho shakes his head. "Alright Victor, no need for melodrama." He gives a hollow chuckle. "But seriously, it would be helpful for us to know just how fast you could respond to something like that. Just in case."

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Mercy sighed and shook her head.  She remembered a line from some movie somewhere about the military, or perhaps it was some kind if first response team.
"I don't really sleep at night anymore, because I have to face the things in this world that would make you not sleep anymore if you knew about them."
Or something like that.

"Good grief...no wonder you people are always so high strung and cranky, if this is what you think about all the time.  Okay......."
She bit her lip, thinking.
"Okay.....I'm only guessing here.  Or guesstimating....but I'd treat the diseased and infected people like a kind of triage.  I'd work to stabilize them, hopefully prolonging the time before the disease was fatal, and try to put everyone's immune systems into overdrive to try to fight the infection on its own.  That would give me time to figure out the best tactics for defeating the disease, so I could 'mass produce it' for others."

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Jericho nods. "Alright, write us an emergency response list of things you might need, we will see what we can and can't get." He flips a few pages.

"Last thing on the agenda. A few weeks ago a dangerous mutant escape MHA custody, it was relatively close to hear so we need to keep this one on our radar." He sighs looking at the file. Mercy can sense Havoc become more tense as he grinds his teeth and mutters something awful.

"His name is Calvin Trask, better known as Brimstone." His file starts off with some basic physical traits.

"His genetic talent gives him control over a very specific set of chemicals and elements. Sodium, potassium, some other stuff. We aren't completely sure. Brimstone has been known to rearrange these elements within the bodies of his victims, he creates unstable high energy crystalline cysts out of these elements."

David turns a page in his folder and softly swears. "Holy god, he turns people into bombs." There is a gallery of unsightly pictures within the folder. He stops. "Why is he on our list, I mean there are a great deal of dangerous meta-humans out there. Why him?"

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
Mercy felt dirty talking about such things, but she shrugged.
"Perhaps he considers us the 'Uncle Tom' of mutants, here in our quaint little school, and wants to teach us a lesson about 'working with the enemy', or some such nonsense.   Okay, i'll make a list, and study up on my inorganic chemistry."

Re: Basement Level - Meeting Room L1
The reason Brimstone is in the threat folder is because he was released by Melora O'Malley while under the cruel control of a psychic Virginia. For his part he remains silent about this aspect of her involvement. "Brimstone is a dangerous man. I don't suspect he will come here, I hope he doesn't. But we hope for the best and prepare for the worst."
