Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Becky could not actually see what was going on. She did however hear the voices around her. Lynn was making a valiant defense to save her. Havoc was predicting an awful future for her. Joshua was doing his best to diffuse the situation.

Lynn felt a tug on the robe behind her. "Help him... Please help Victor save me. Please? Please? Please help him." An awful desperation filled her strained voice. "Really, if he wanted us dead, at least one of the fourteen.." "Sixteen" Havoc interjected. "Sixteen null zone generators in this room!"

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
"I'll take your word that is a bad thing, but so not inspiring confidence here."  Straitening from her defensive crouch Lynn dissolved her daggers.  "I'll help you, but have you got anything I can eat in here?  I have not had anything for a couple of days."

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Havoc walked over to a refrigerator and opened it. Inside there were two assault rifles, six pounds of C-4, a box marked 'DO NOT REFRIGERATE' in large red letters, a detailed file of every assassin the Soviet Union hired to operation in Morocco in the 1970s, half a gallon of expired milk, an empty jar of pickles, and some General Tso's chicken from two days ago. He grabbed the the Chinese take out box and sniffed it. Nodding that is was passable as food he moved it over to her with a pair of chopsticks.

"Okay, eat up. We have work to do."

"I need you to create a crystals, as dense as possible."
He gives another dozen or so commands about size and dimension of the piece he needs.

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Lynn took a moment to shovel a few pieces of cold chicken and veggies into her mouth "Nummies." before stepping over to a table.  Sitting down the carton a bit away from the edge she placed her palm down flat on the table top and concentrated, muttering under her breath as she squinted at the back of her hand.  "Heavy and hard, heavy and hard, heavy and hard." she chanted quietly as she slowly raised her hand.  It took almost a minute to produce a rough block that was about 6 by 6 by 3 and by the time she was done the table was groaning from the weight of the block.  A soft glow came from the center of the blue crystal.

"That work?"  Lynn was panting slightly from the effort and looked a little faded.

Havoc is moving back and forth hectically occasionally shouting out commands to Joshua. He places the device into an icy red liquid before assembling it together. He tosses Lynn a remote control. "You have an important job. Watch TV, what time is it anyway? Ooooh Desperate Hou.... I mean COPS is on."

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
As Nodoroc approached Havoc's workshop he couldn't help but shutter. Someone had been popping through the veil like his brother popped balloons at birthday parties. He no doubt, after what the boy said, that it was Havoc's doing. They would have to have a talk about that at some point. But that could wait. Right now it was third on his list. He walked into the lab ready to cross off the first one.

""Victor Havoc?"  He said addressing the only one old enough to be the fables Hunter. "I've come to offer my gratitude for the rescue. I was glad to be of use to the students and was hoping to be so again. I understand correctly from the helicopter, the girl we managed to save, is being overwhelmed with modern signals. If you needed more time coming up with a permanent solution, I could take her somewhere where there are no signals."

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Havoc turned to see who was talking to him. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other he stared at him quietly for a moment crossing his arms. "Of those mutants we dragged out of there, you were the teleporter right?"

"Not that I don't trust you... but I'd sooner activate a quantum stabilizer to ensure you don't go anywhere too suddenly."
He glances over at Joshua for a moment.

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Josh sighed, the doc was getting all kinds of nervous with all of these new and non-background checked people in his thoroughly experimental lab.

Quantum stablizer? He assumed that the hurried glance he had been shot was a sign that the doc wanted it activating without the mutant knowing about it...what was the deal there? "Hey doc, I reckon Caligula will be about ready to get out of this stuffy box. How about I leave you guys to....you know, get to know one and other." he says, making way to the exit (and more importantly, to the store where Victor kept all of his tinker toys.</blue>"

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Havoc waited a moment. Joshua would be able to activate it, Havoc used his subtly to buy some time. "My cat... Caligula is my cat... He needs air... For cat things... Also mosquito."

Joshua found it easily. Part of the machine was cannibalized to fix a margarita machine at Carbones, a Mexican bar in a shady part of town that Victor frequented. A few quick adjustments and it was running. As it came to life, Joshua notices something strange, the panel on the front was reading zero anomalies. That machine should've reacted to the presence of a teleporter, but was quiet for now.

"I've heard of these decvices before. While I'm not quite sure how exactly they work, Dr. Temples once explained that they do not work on my skill set. A fact that once saved the lives of 30 people." Nodoroc said casually. "Perhaps I should have brought Elizabeth here, thought only to save time for the girls sake..."

"Lizzy told you that?" Havoc cocked his head to the side and pondered a moment. "Hey Joshua, you can turn off the quantum stabilizer, not going to do much here."

The old man looked him up and down his one eye glaring. "She's safe here. We're helping her. How do you know Liz?"

"I know Elizabeth from the war, she helped save the lives of countless people, wounded from both sides. From time to time she'd  me to help relocate some of the people she helped. I've encountered those devices more than once. Nodoroc turns to Becky. "I'm glade you remember me. I could take you to place where there are no signals to bother you. It wouldn't be for long, just until you friends can figure out a more permanent solution."

Havoc glares at the man for a moment. He considers what he says is true, then turns his back and continues tinkering. "With the help of these kids, creating a signal jammer won't be overly difficult."

"Tell me..." Setting down  small tool he solders a small node into the circuit. The scent of burning plastic momentarily whiffs through the room. "When you sent her to get intelligence from Hunter command, did you have a plan to extract her if she got caught or was she simply considered 'acceptable losses'." He doesn't even look up from his work.

Josh turned off the quantum stabiliser and returned to his station. He threw an apologetic shrug to Nodoroc and then hit the books. For the moment, it looked like Havoc had everything under control.

"Give me a yell if you want me boss." he called out to Havoc, then thought about the term...boss. He actually had some money lying around that he could happily use to buy stuff! Slipping on his gloves, he booted up the nearest PC and started to browse on Amazon.

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Going over beside Becky Lynn lowered herself stiffly to the floor favoring her injured leg.  "Hope you don't mind if I crash here for a bit."  She whispers to the other girl as she leaned back against the wall.  "Wake me up before anything explodes."  Drawing up her knees she crossed her arms across them then rested her forehead on them before closing her eyes.

"Elizabeth is an adult capable of making her own decisions and deciding what risks she is willing to take. Apparently she felt her ability to save lives was greater than the danger to her own."  Nodoroc glanced at the sleeping girls. ""I came here to help the poor girl but if you feel I will not be of use perhaps I should use this time to explain the dangers of your gratuitous use of what you call 'warp tech'"

Victor glares at Nodoroc. "They sent her to the Endless Shores facility you know. The took a hot iron and carved the word race traitor on her chest." Nodoroc's comment has stirred anger in Victor. His eyes follow the old man's movements with contempt and anger.

"Your excuses are a poor substitute for..." Havoc cocks his head to the side. "What the hell is she to you anyway? Ally? Acquaintance? A helpful tool that was discard when knowing her was inconvenient? Or is it that you have the pathological arrogance to call yourself a friend?"

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Nodoroc becomes mournful at the mention of Elizabeth's torture. He shifts his downward as the memory of his own incarceration convergences with hers. There at least there some purpose to pain. Albeit it was far from a noble pursuit it wasn't simply saddism. "I had no idea. After the mission, I found myself the Shepard of nearly 100 mutants. It was all I could do to stay one step ahead of the hunters an when Elizabeth went dark I had to a difficult choice: do I abandon the people she risked her life to rescue in order to save their savior? Or do I honor her sacrifice by moving forward and protecting the ones she tasked me to defend. What was she to me?" Nodoroc said brining his eyes back up."A beacon of light when all else is dark. A reminder of what selflessness can accomplish. An inspiration. I tried to share that with as many of those mutants we rescued as possible, just as you are trying to share that here, with young Joshua and Rebecca. Just as Julia dreamed of. I sorry I wasted your time you've important work to get back to." Nodoroc said before turning to leave.
"If you could, try to refrain from teleporting unless it's an emergency. Believe me when i say our world is not meant to be punctured like a junkies arm"

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Joshua, who had been minding his own business with the usual lack of attention to doing just that, pricked his ears up as Havoc and Nodoroc started what appeared to be a battle of words. They seemed to know of each other at least...

"Punctured?" he queried, sticking his nose into other people's business for yet another time.

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
"Our world is surrounded by plane of existence that acts as a barrier. From what I saw here and at the lab, warp tech needs to puncture this barrier in order for the tech to work. While a few holes is fine there is no way of knowing how many it would take before a larger is made, one that something might come through."

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Joshua looks with a withering look across to Havoc. If he had known the dangers to the world, Joshua would have most certainly have been a lot more careful in his recent warp jumping endeavours.

"That's interesting. And frightening. I recently must have punctured over a hundred holes in the barrier in a very concentrated area. If you are skilled at looking into the damage caused, perhaps you should look closely in courtyard!" replies Joshua, concerned at the damage his recent explorations may have made.
