Joshua too was pleased that the designs had come off well. Of course being able to manipulate energy helped when working with welders, cutters and the likes but there had still been some hiccups. He looked over at a pile of molten scrap with a grimace. That was a titanium alloy that came in at over $4,000 per ounce. Junk now.

"That's up to you. I only built what you wanted, with modifications of course. Physics. The frustration of many an inventor!" he said, with a grin and laugh.

Re: Another Set of Eyes
It was late in the night when Terri's drone was completed. Havoc walked into the lab. He looked at the young people and frowned for a moment. "Whether or not you are possessing the drone, remember, you push the RPMs on the engine far enough, and it's overheat, probably burst since we needed to shove the power source." The machine had everything stuffed into a very confined space. So while relatively well armored for an object of that size and utility, it could still be vulnerable to some damage.

Havoc unlatched the arm brace and tosses his brown coat on a nearby couch. He tilted the cat food dumping Cal some extra food. He walked to the end of the room picking up a case then turned to Joshua. "Pick that those two crates, bring your... Terri name the device then come follow me." It was close to three in the morning.

"What?  Now?  I don't even know if I can control this thing! "  With a grunt Terri managed to pick up the drone which in spite of its compact design still weighed almost 70 pounds.  "We still haven't tested everything!  I wanted to paint it blue...."  Staggering after the resident Mad Scientist she continued her protests.  "Where are we going?!"

Re: Another Set of Eyes
"Yes boss." replies Joshua cheekily. He heads over to the two crates and picks them up.

How much did they weight? He had no clue. He just picked them up like empty boxes and took them where directed. "You probably want to test it first. No sense going in unprepared and unable to co-ordinate yourself." he suggested to Terri.

"Yes I want to test it!  That's what I'm trying to tell Mr. Ratchet and Klunk!  We don't even know what the transmission range is yet or if I can switch back and forth between direct control and the automatic systems."  Terri was discovering the sad truth about design and development, sooner or later you had to stop adding options and accessories and actually test your brain child and see if it could stand on its own.

Headed out
Havoc looks at the machine and briefly smiles at the thought of a test. He bites his lip for a moment making a quick time calculation in his head. "No. We are headed out." His voice is cold and grim.

===> From the main grounds...

Havoc arrived to his lab and instantly started working. He prepared all sorta of measurements to determine what Becky could hear and read. For the most part she had to wear that terrible helmet to avoid the bright light.

Becky was ushered there by Havoc, unceremoniously sat on the couch next to an unfinished project, then largely left alone. She sat there cradling her arms as Havoc buzzed back and forth through his lab.

Headed out
Josh had entered the lab just after Havoc had, and though he wanted to help Havoc immediately, he knew that the poor girl must be finding it difficult.

"Hang on there Becky. We will get to the bottom of it as soon as we can, don't you worry about that." he says, and he gives Becky a pat on the shoulder. It was as much as he could do.

Walking over to Havoc, he grabs a few of the sensors the doc would need. "Hey doc. You need me, I know that. But what do you think to getting Jason in her head to see what he can re-wire?"

Havoc looks around frustrated for the part he needed only to realize Joshua is handing them to him. He looks at them surprised for a moment before swiping them. Victor let his guard down for a second and almost expressed gratitude. His grumble might have a muffled 'Thank you' somewhere in there...

"Little Jason is still... He's not well. He opened his mind to a vast ocean of conciousness, it's hard to say how long till he recovers." He was almost like family to that brat, the thought of the poor kid in the condition that he was in coaxed a frown on Victor's face. Havoc applies the sensors to another machine. "Actually, it's not that different from what is happening to Ms. Brown." He says with a dispassionate academic curiosity. "A mind opened to a flood of information so vast, it overwhelms."  As he fidgets with it, Becky winces beneath her helmet. "Modulate the flux of the emitter..." Havoc forgot to explain himself again, but the designs are clear. He is bouncing signals in every direction looking for a material that could suitably serve as a sink. If he could find the right material to vibrate at the correct frequency, the resulting field could potentially shut down all signals within a short radius, perfect for someone looking to escape the storm of wireless information surrounding the modern world.

Josh looks at the designs as he takes in the information. "Whatever these guys are doing, it's almost crippling us right now. Some of our most powerful mutants out of action, so much information about us and our defences seems wide open to all to abuse. At the moment, we are reactionary."

He removes his glove and touches where the sink needs to go with his index finger. "That should do it. Until you find something else to replace me." he says, his innate ability to soak energy replacing the need for a dedicated component temporarily. He wonders absentmindedly what might happen if he were, for example, able to chop off a small part of his finger.

Havoc stares at the sensor, the readings look promising for a moment, but they flicker away relatively soon. "Okay... that was expected..." He shift around some materials in the test area. "Let's try again..." The readings again repeat the same effect. "The reverberations are not strong enough, they won't cancel out what we need them too." He says annoyed, he was hoping for a quicker solution that would make him look good, this might actually take some real effort. "Shit, we need..." He suddenly looks up and around the room. "Well what do you know..."

Suddenly aware that not everyone can hear what he is thinking to himself, Havoc decides to explain. "We need a material that can reverberate at a frequency that would essentially absorb various forms of information so Ms. Brown doesn't go crazy."

From what I can see, Joshua, you would be capable of this, but unless you are willing to attach yourselves at the hip." He eyes both Becky and Josh to see whether that is a viable option. "The sensor is getting another reading. Somewhere on campus, there is another reading. Something in the... main building, the gymnasium section... will work for what we need."

Havoc takes the sensor, rewires some objects on it, then tosses it to Joshua. "Find it and bring it back here."

The thing about Joshua was that he didn't need any second guessing. There was another who had said she could absorb energy of a sort, and the crystal she had made was super tough. It just so happened that Josh still had the shield she had given him strapped to his back.

"Would this material be what you need, or are you looking for the provider of the crystalline substance?" he asked, offering the shield up for inspection.

Havoc looks at the shield the youth inexplicably produces and cocks his head to the side. Instead of tracking down the mystery of it's origin, he decides to look at the object itself. "Hrmmm..." Under the magnifying device he has he sees that it the lattice work makes it harder than tank armor. It was however spaced out to be incredibly light. Ironically, being so hard also made it brittle and susceptible to micro fractures from nano-harmonics. The constant resonance would likely shatter the shield in time. "Provider?" It must have come from a mutant. He recalled her now. "Yes, definitely, we will need her."

Nodding, Joshua turned to leave. "The gym, you say?" he asked. He wondered what state of repair it was in since his last visit...

It wasn't a long journey to the Doctor's lab, but Joshua was quiet as he made his way there. Lynn looked like she had been through enough, and he wasn't about to make things worse than he had done already.

He opened the door to see a small sizzling glass on the burner, which looked to be getting close to boiling. Sensing that Havoc was pre-occupied with something else, he removed the intensity of the heat to allow the liquid to reach boiling point without overflowing the receptacle.

"Hey Doc, this is the lady that I was talking about. How are you getting on so far?" he asked.

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
When they arrived Havoc was over a table using a blowtorch on a small circuit board perhaps three by five inches just a few feet away from some large red barrels adorned with flame symbols warnings. "Good, you're here."

Havoc recognized her from Lab-13. "Oh... It's you. I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Dr. Victor Havoc." He extends an hand to shake. "You can produce crystals yes? Yes. That's how you made that shield..." He stood there muttering quietly for nearly a minute. "I need you to make a crystal, not large, 3 by 5 by 1 inch. IT needs to be both very soft, but also incredibly dense."

He scratches his head trying to explain was he wants to say for it to be understood. "Glass is brittle, but very hard. We need something that is malleable, for a crystal anyway. You want to get it soft enough to be bent or scratched like gold."

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Lynn looked at Havoc for several seconds wondering if it would be safer to slowly back away and then run or to play along until a better chance came around.  "Uhhh, Yeah... No.  I can make a block of crystal, but I can't make it soft or bendable or stretchy.  I might be able to make it into specific shapes if that is what you are interested in."

Havoc looks around suddenly alarmed keenly aware that he has lost track of where Caligula has wandered off to. "I'm sure he's just..." Probably hunting an endangered species or something. "...resting?" He says unconvincingly.

"Try and make something as dense as possible, we will work from there."

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Hearing Rebecca's voice Lynn looked around quickly and spotted the other young woman laying on a cot back behind some equipment.  "WHATINTHEHELL?"  Twin daggers of blue crystal sprouted from her palms and grew to around 12 inches as she darted around Havoc and took up a defensive stance between the mad scientist and her fellow captive.  "What the f**k are you doing to her!"  Even in the light of the lab the daggers shimmered with rainbow colors as the razor edges split the light.

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Havoc stared calmly at the blades that sprouted out of nowhere. "During her residency at Lab 13, Ms. Brown's captors amplified her powers of being able to communicate with machines. Now, her brain is attempting to pick up every cellphone signal in the continental United States."

"In about eight to ten hours, the amount of information she will absorb will turn her into a vegetable." Becky is rather frightened by the omnious prediction. Contempt crawls into Havoc's voice. "I, am trying to find a method of creating a signal jammer so her brains don't leak out of her ears. If you are going to be a problem, leave. If you want to help..." Havoc taps one of the dagger points with a screw driver. "Actually that isn't bad, can you make one but more dense than that?"

Lynn looked back over her shoulder but continued to hold the daggers toward Havoc and Joshua.  She was careful to keep one eye on each of them.  "I'm sorry, I never got your name in the Cells, Is he really trying to help or do you need to get out of here?"  Under her bath towels armor began to bulk her out as she grew crystal over her more vulnerable places.

Re: North-West Campus, Victor Havoc's Lab
Josh, who had been holding Caligula the whole time (damn cat seemed to love him), turned to attend to the question. The liquid on the boil was just right for the process it was cooking for.

"It's Joshua, or Josh. And Miss, I guess if you believed all you heard about the Doc's past you would be right to be worried. I can only tell you about the hundreds of lives he has saved and the absolute focus he has on making sure the wrongs of his past are put right."

He looked to the floor, then back up at Lynn. "So yeah, he's trying to help."
